Very kitschy and sandwiches/​food is so delicious and fresh! Would recommend the bagel with lox sandwich! Just as good and better than the average Starbucks (of which I am a huge fan)

Great atmosphere, food, and service.
There are lots of drink and food selections, and for the most part they taste good. I will mention that there are no pumps for the Tourani syrups for coffee, so the employees just dump an absurd amount into your drink and it ruins the drink, so I just skip any drinks that come with the syrups now. But the bagels are great, their flavored cream cheeses are great, and the employees are always SO nice even when it’s busy.

Really cool place to meet friends for coffee and a bagel! The cinnamon rolls are to die for! The staff is always friendly and helpful, especially when you have questions on specials ect. I can’t wait to try the ice cream window once it gets warmer

Stopped in for lunch after a meeting and it is not my first visit. But every time I come I enjoy the food and the casual atmosphere! I ordered a BLT on sour dough, toasted. Perfect! I will stop for lunch anytime I am in Ballston Spa.

Stopped in for an iced espresso. Good flavor, friendly service, free wireless, nice funky vibe. If I lived here I would come in everyday.

Excellent coffee house in the Village of Ballston Spa. Great lattes, breakfast sandwiches and bagels. Create your own breakfast sandwich on bagel or croissant. Great community vibe and meeting place. Not corporate and the staff is excellent. They have live music certain nights. Forget about the national chains and hangout here.

This is my lunch time go-​to! When I lived in the building, I literally ate here every day. There is no other atmosphere like it in the area. The bagels are the boiled, hot, fluffy, smushy (it’s the technical term I believe) kind that are simply unbeatable. The sandwiches are HUGE and fabulously yummy, and you can always count on a SCRUMPTIOUS selection of coffee. They are always incredibly friendly, and their service (God Forbid there should ever be a problem with your order) is attentive and speedy. In my mind, you simply can’t beat a wonderful, cozy coffee shop with incredible coffee and smiling faces!

I ordered an organic coffee and a sandwich on my visit. The coffee was delicious and it really hit the spot. The sandwich also would have been awesome had it not been absolutely soaking wet. I asked for dressing on it, but it was quite literally drenched. Don’t get my wrong — it was still delicious, but it was ridiculous. I wish they had rationed their liquid a bit, seeing as how sandwiches are much more enjoyable when they’re not soggy. I have hopes that if I were to order the same thing and skip the dressing, it would be great. I’ll go again next time I have like 30 minutes to spare to make sandwiches for my friends and me. Fer realz. Super slow. Don’t go if you’re in a hurry!

I love stopping into Coffee Planet for a drink and/​or sandwich either to-​go for the road or to enjoy in the café while working.
It’s a bright place to spend your day and often has live music. It can get a little crowded on weekends but I like the vibe.
Sometimes the service can be slow. Last time I stopped in for sandwiches it took nearly 20 minutes and we were in a rush. They were also not as high quality as usual. However, this was a one-​time lackluster experience.

Stopped here today with my family for a quick lunch on the way to Vermont. What a find. We had gumbo soup and various sandwiches. All were delicious. The coffee was great and the staff was super friendly. I’m glad we stopped in!

This place is so cute and the staff is so friendly I would come here daily. The décor is comfortable and the outdoor seating is perfect for nice days. The cream cheese flavors are delicious (scallion bacon) and the coffee will make you roll your eyes at the next Starbucks cup you see.
Best part is they give a Veteran’s Discount :)

One of the endearing continuing revelations about living in the CRUST (Capital Region of UpSTate, as we’re calling it) is the relatively smooth distribution of population across our little cities and pre-​urban towns. This produces nice surprises like a decent coffee place in the small town of Ballston Spa, Coffee Planet, where one really ought not to be if you just look at the size of the town. Ballston Spa itself has a downtown that is livelier in a way than Schenectady’s, and I always take the slight detour to go through it when I’m wending my way through this part of Saratoga County. Coffee Planet has beckoned to me before, but I finally availed myself of its services for lunch-​and-​coffee, and I daresay it’s in the upper tier for the hangout coffee café in the CRUST.
So the first plus here is they could tell me where they get their beans; they’re Panache customers, which is a Farmer Brothers subsidiary and not quite on the fair trade/​sustainable/​organic end of the spectrum but they’re higher on the quality end of things, and the blends were all good (yes, I tried six) even if the roasting is done off-​premises. It gets an acceptable three-​plus stars on the coffee maven spectrum.
Then they’ve got really decent sandwiches and baked goods, including a yummy multi-​pepper wrap. We’re not quite beyond what one could make at home given enough time and motivation but it was really nice and prepped fresh. Ice cream available.
Then we’ve got the amiable hangout joint in an old 19^th century brick corner office building (the former «Hannah») with the tin ceiling and the old tile floors and the used book shelf and the local art hanging on the walls and the casual two-​room layout. Seating is café — no comfy lounge chairs — but casual. Nice vibe.
So our bottom line is it was well worth a stop and a loll.

Was in the city of Ballston Spa for the week and pasted this place while on route 50 and always wanted to try their coffee. Well I wasn’t the only one thinking about it. As I enter there was a pretty good line, I didn’t mind because it gave me time to look at their menu. I ended up ordering a bagel sandwich on a toasted everything bagel with bacon, egg and cheese on it and a medium coffee. I was pleasantly surprise that they actually use REAL eggs to make their sandwiches here. No precooked/​prepackaged eggs here! The coffee was just ok for me, I like a coffee that I can actually taste the coffee without being overly strong. Theirs was teetering on being overly strong, even when I put creamer in it. The sandwich was delicious. Fresh ingredients are all used here and you could totally tell. I was FULL after eating the bagel sandwich. I will come back just for one if those bagel sandwiches.

Nothing against Starbucks (consistently good coffee and espresso) but it is really nice to have a place like Coffee Planet nearby as a reminder of what a coffee house was like before huge corporations took over the café business. Coffee Planet is not perfect, but they have great coffee and espresso in a nice location in Ballston Spa.
Pro: Great coffee and espresso. Homemade ice cream. Good selection of freshly made sandwiches and snacks. Great atmosphere.
Con: The things that Starbucks brings to the table (professional service, consistent cleanliness, speed of service) are a little lacking. The employees seem to have a bit of a hippie attitude, and occasionally seem to be more focused on chit-​chatting with each other than helping customers.
Overall: It is great to have this place in Ballston Spa. Excellent place to enjoy coffee.

I’ve been a patron of Coffee Planet since I can remember. Any time I need to meet anyone, I suggest meeting them here. The food is fresh, reasonably priced and delicious, the menu is simple and the girls working there will pretty much make you anything you ask for. It’s a friendly atmosphere with comfortable seating, homemade ice cream, and delicious espresso drinks and coffee. They usually have calm music playing: Cat Stevens, John Mayer, etc. I’ve never had a bad experience here and could sit in the café for an hour with a book happily.

Stopped into Coffee Planet while waiting for a spot at the Whistling Kettle. We were just going to grab some coffee and a small bite to eat. When we saw it from the street it looked warm, welcoming and cute. Then we opened the door.
The lady at the counter in her LOVE shirt made a point of saying as little as possible to us, speaking mostly in grunts and shrugs. We ordered a coffee, a latte and an egg and cheese on a croissant. They were out of croissants so we chose an everything bagel. That’s when I saw another girl behind the counter beating our eggs in a bowl. Awesome, they’re fresh! Then I saw her place the eggs in the microwave and nuke them to death. Is it really too much trouble to have a small skillet and provide a better quality product when you’re going out of your way to make them fresh? The bagel was ok. A lot of toppings, but otherwise unimpressive. I also remember taking note of the girl smacking and popping her gum while she prepare our food. Not exactly hygienic or professional.
It took us a minute to find the sugar/​cream area which was pointed out to us by a head nod from the counter lady. It’s positioned behind the register and amid tables of patrons. A simple restructure of the space would fix this and make the flow more apparent.
The latte and coffee were fine and the medium size was larger than expected. Nothing amazing about the taste, which I was hoping they would be since the place was so full despite the rude staff, poor quality of food and general appearance of the place. Put something on the tables to make them more inviting! A single flower, a sugar packet holder, anything would work better than the nothing that exists now. The music was good — low key mix of Jack Johnson, DMB, etc.
Also, another layout problem… If you sit in the back room (which has most of the tables) be prepared for loud, disgruntled banging. One of the girls brought dishes to the back area and threw them loudly into the sink. I don’t understand why this back room doesn’t have full length walls and a real door vs saloon style.
To really drive home the culture of the business, as we were leaving, a third girl was taking the trash out. She got to the door first and said excuse me, then proceeded to walk out with the trash bags ahead of us. Had she hesitated, we probably would have held the door for her, but she was on a mission and we were in the way. Worse, we left with the smell of trash in our nose. Fitting.

— culture of the brand. No one seem accountable or cares enough about the small things. Apathy should be the death of a business, but without competition, they continue to thrive. Sad.
Edit — trying to figure out why I was so upset with this business, it occurred to me that the problem has to be coming from the business owner. The entire staff wouldn’t behave the way they did unless the owner accepted it and bred that behavior themselves. Unless the owner sees these reviews as a real opportunity to change and grow, I don’t see us returning in the future. I’d rather wait an hour in the cold for The Whistling Kettle.

I stopped here on my way to Vermont from Ohio. I walked around the small town to find a place to eat and this was the only interesting option. They had a half sandwich and cup of soup for $ 5.95 (similar to the Panera Bread deal). I got the hummus sandwich with sprouts and butternut squash soup.
The «half» sandwich was huge and is a normal person’s full sandwich. The hummus tasted a bit salty for my taste, and their sprouts were a piece of lettuce. It tasted fine though. The soup was very rich and had an odd consistency. Overall, I was pleased with my choices, making Coffee Planet a nice, cheap spot for an on-​the-​road meal.
I feel bad not reviewing coffee at a coffee shop! From what I saw on menus, they are very interested in fair trade coffee and supporting local artists. That’s always a sign of a good, local coffee joint.
