This place was absolutely awful. Our waitress got our order wrong multiple times, she brought my girlfriend a red wine and insisted it white. The appetizers were delicious but the tiny steak sandwich came on a log carved to look like a piece of bread.

Horrible service and the place was pretty empty. Food was OK but nothing special. The cook came out to talk to us while we were eating and he was filthy from head to toe. He looked like a diesel truck mechanic, filthy shirt, pants, hat and even his hands were all dirty. Not that there’s anything wrong with diesel mechanics but you don’t want to see the guy who just cooked your food to look like one. We all pretty much lost our appetites after seeing him.

Last year I would have given 3 ½ stars but this past year(2015) I couldn’t give them more then 1 star. The waitress was scrapping the floor grout for 5 minutes before being told that our food was ready. She actually lifted herself off the floor, went in the kitchen and brought our food(which was the worst dinner any of us had ever had). We will never go back.

The food here is surprisingly good for a roadside bar looking place. The burger patties are fresh, not frozen meat pucks like you’d expect from most bars. The chicken strips are actual cuts of chicken battered and fried to order. The onion rings are fresh sliced onion dipped in batter and fried. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because the batter was a bit thick and hard for my taste, and the fries would have been better if they were thick cut, wedge style fries. Overall, it’s good, fresh food made to order.

Glad we stopped. Service was excellent. Staff friendly to both locals and we travelers. Had ½ chicken salad — plenty, husband had chili — said was great and liked the tortilla chips with it. Coffee fresh in middle of day. We appreciate that. Prices reasonable. Would definitely stop again.

Barski is a bit of a diamond in the rough– it looks like a roadside bar both inside and out, but has amazing food and great service! My wife had the Bloody Mary, which she said was very spicy and flavorful. I just had a ginger ale, so I can’t comment on the drinks. We shared the breaded provolone appetizer, which is a lot like a large triangle shaped mozzarella stick, served with a garlicky ranch dressing. My wife had the perch sandwich; the roll was a bit dry but the fish itself was moist with a delicious tartar sauce. I had the Barski Burger, which is a very tasty and giant burger with ham, egg, pickle relish on a pretzel bun. It normally comes with a garlic aioli, but I substituted thousand island dressing because I’m pretty sensitive to garlic– little did I know the burger meat itself is heavily seasoned with garlic and onion! I am feeling pretty sick tonight due to all that garlic but it was one damn tasty burger! In the past my wife had the polish sausage and sauerkraut which was awesome, all house made. I also tried the pirogies at a previous visit which are served with a heavy mushroom cream sauce; quite a heavy meal but very rich and flavorful. I highly recommend Barski– just be aware that they aren’t shy with the garlic!

Went here on our way to Silver Lake from Traverse City. Good choice! Great burgers, especially for the price! Had the Cajun Burger which was delicious. Got lettuce added for free, and it was only 8 $ and HUGE. Very filling. The only thing that could be improved is a reduction in the oil used, because it was a very«oily» burger. Not that that made it less delicious. Super fast order too and friendly waitress

From the outside I was nervous, what a hidden gem. Best Olive Burger I’ve had in a long time. Place was full with one person waiting on bar and diners but she did an excellent job and was on go entire time. Friendly staff! Would come back again for sure!

Went here tonight for dinner. It was ok. We had a party of 7. Most had hamburgers and everyone said they were«fine». One of our party had the fish and chips and said they were very good. I know this is a popular spot, it was full for dinner. I tend to like The Government Lake Lodge over Barski for the atmosphere, among other things.

Good service. Burger was great(even the ½ I had leftover for breakfast was good). AYCE fish my hubby had was a little greasy but tasted good. Want to go back and try the pizzas which looked great as they passed by our table.

I was so surprised at how awesome the food was. I had ahi tuna appetizer. It was the best appetizer I’ve had in years. We tried onion rings and a bbq bacon burger. The smell of the burger was just insane. Don’t hesitate to go here, seriously.

This was our first time eating at Baski’s.( ) My wife, son and I arrived on a Tuesday afternoon around 2:30PM and had a great experience. We were the only one’s eating at that time so we had the whole place to ourselves. The three of us shared the wonderful Bacon Cheeseburger Bites appetizer plate. My son had the burrito and my wife had the perch with a side salad. Both thought their food was excellent and my wife was amazed at the size and variety of ingredients in her side salad. I had the 12 oz. rib-eye steak cooked medium with macaroni-and-cheese and kapusta for sides. An excellent perfectly cooked steak. Generous portions and reasonable prices all around. We will definitely be back as we camp nearby at Pickerel Lakeside Family Campground near Bitely, MI quite often during the summer.

We’ve been eating at Barski’s for a few years now. The food is something you wouldn’t expect from an out of the way bar in Lake County. We often order the fish sandwich in a pretzel bun which is not in the menu. They love it when you challenge them off menu and it’s one of the best fish sandwiches you’ll get, make sure you add cheese. Try any of the menu items, the Monte Cristo is very good. Steaks are cooked perfectly and are good sized. The cheeseburger bites on the starter menu are very good. Hell, it’s all good.

Wow. I have made due with a lot of places in this general stretch between Reed City and Baldwin. I don’t eat boxed, processed Franken-foods as a general rule, so while there are some decent options, there isn’t much wow factor. Barski avoids one of the pitfalls many up north establishments by keeping the menu streamlined, and yet somehow has a wonderful diversity, like mussels and blue crab stuffed mushrooms. I ordered the pork cutlet with kapusta and the garlic smashed red potatoes, and added some cole slaw. The cole slaw came first which was much appreciated. It’s real veggies, neither too chunky nor too small, not to gluey, sweet or runny, had plenty of flavor. Lots of red onion which I thought was perfect, but kids and onion-phobes might find it strong. The pork cutlet may or may not be recognizable as such to you depending on your Grandma, but Texans will recognize it as chicken fried… Pork. It was tenderized like a minute steak, had a nice, I’m sure hand breaded coating which was perfectly thick and perfectly seasoned, and a nicely loose cream gravy with an appropriate amount of pepper. The gravy is divine on the wonderfully seasoned potatoes, and I preferred the carrot and paprika enhanced kapusta with the pork chop, it was the perfect foil to all that richness. Everything appeared to be homemade like Grandma. If there was pre-packaged GFS type stuff my palate was completely fooled. It’s no joke about serving size, the portions are epic. I made it through the cole slaw, pork chop and 4⁄5 of the kapusta and maybe half the potatoes, and one bite of bread. I am a pretty good eater but wow. It’s a lot! I’m really glad I came, this menu is going to need some investigating. I think the husband and kids will be impressed, and I foresee some date nights in my future. :)

The outside of the bar is a bit dingy. The inside is not much better, but the food is really good! I was very surprised to receive the delicious burrito and fries. My brother had the kalbasa and cabbage which was very good too. He said the kalbasa was cooked to perfection(almost as good as our grandma used to make!). Some of the other guys had chili cheesy fries and really enjoyed it.
