This place is awful. Bad service. The Armenian cashier has a bad attitude. And the fat guy who works at the meat counter looks like a pervert.

Hidden inside the liquor and convenience store is a meat market, and in the meat market itself, they sell cooked food. $ 1.10 for tacos, any kind of meat. Today no carnitas though ;(they get the meat straight from the meat market display so it’s quite fresh. I had the chicken, carne asada and tacos al pastor, all three are quite good. It could have a little more meat though. Otherwise I am quite happy with my order. The green salsa has a good kick to it. I am going back for sure to try the burrito and other offerings. Probably get the uncooked meats too.

I just ordered 20 tacos, large beans, rice and a huge bag of freshly made chips and salsa… grand total, $ 30. That’s pretty freaking cheap if you consider the authenticity and shear awesomeness of the food. I can’t tell you enough how thankful you will be when you listen to me and check this place out. Tip: Bring a translator if you don’t know how to speak Spanish.

If you’re reading this, you probably have the same concern I did when I first came here. Let me tell you, this place is for real! They not only carry the basic essentials a market should carry, they have an incredible meat counter. The meat here has a tremendous amount of turnover so you’re certain to get the freshest meat any time you visit. If that isn’t enough, Baldwin Park’s best kept secret is the restaurant in the back of the place. The entrance to the dining room is through a door off the parking lot in the rear of the building. The food is freshly made, and as you can imagine, the meat is super fresh and choice cuts. There’s no menu, so you’ve got to be open to go with the flow. Just ask what they’ve got today and go for it. I enjoyed tacos de tripa, which is a house specialty. The tacos are served street vendor style and the tortillas are just larger than silver dollars. I ordered 6 to fill me up. I washed it all down with a Mexican Coke, which uses liquid sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. Always a good combo when you’re eating Mexican food. Give this place a try if you’re in the area. Expect a little wait if you drop by on the weekend. Let them know you heard of this place through Unilocal
