High Performance Tennis Academy (HPTA) strives to offer the best tennis coaching in the Philadelphia/​Main line area for both Junior and Adult players. No matter what the level of your tennis game from the first-​time player to tournament champions, HPTA offers a program to suit your individual needs.

Our international, world-​class teaching pros under the leadership of Director Charles Wheeler offers private/​semi-​private lessons, squads, clinics, and league play on our 8 indoor courts. HPTA’s tennis teams compete in intra-​club singles and doubles play as well as local Del-​Tri and USTA competition.

We also offer court rentals by the hour or contracts for full year play.

HPTA’s summer camp (June 9^th — August 29^th 2014) is an extension of our highly successful academy programs that are offered indoors throughout the year. Summer Camp is hosted at St Joes University’s premier tennis facility each year.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

Charles Wheeler, one of the original founders of High Performance Tennis Academy has 20 years of coaching experience, primarily with high performance juniors.

Charles played collegiate tennis at UC Irvine, a Division 1 school that was ranked in the top 15 programs during his time there. He has held world rankings in both singles and doubles and has competed in two grand slam events. He has coached over 50 Division 1 players has previously been the National Junior Davis Cup coach for South Africa. Charles was the junior coach to Kevin Anderson (currently ranked #20 in the world).

Charles also founded Charles Wheeler Tennis Coaching in Johanesburg, South Africa and is now proud to lead an world-​class coaching staff at High Performance Tennis Academy in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania.
