The ham and cheese omelet I had was really good and the waffle was too. Coffee is pretty good.

Good food, descent prices. Only problem for me was today, when I didn’t get any service. It wasn’t just bad service, no one came to take my order for 30 minutes! I kept seeing at least 3 waitresses tend to the other customers, some of which were seated after I was. They just kept walking past me without even acknowledging me and my friend. The first 2 times I went, the service was okay, but this is just ridiculous. So disappointed, I can’t help but think me and my friend were deliberately ignored because of how we look. After all, we were the only 2 ethnic people in that restaurant at the time.

Hands down the best french toast in town!!! We’ve been coming here for a while and I’ve always got their biscuit and gravy, which is fantastic. It’s just as good as my Great Aunt’s, which is a strong comparison. I’ve been on a french toast kick and tried theirs. Love it! I will get it all the time now!

We love this restaurant. Every item we have ordered is delicious. My favorite is the wester burger on sourdough with the chicken fried chicken patty instead of the hamburger patty. Love it.

Immediate star reduction for closing at 2:30. The volume of customers makes me think they could serve dinner too, but I’m not the boss. The food here is good, but not quite as tasty as the Rosedale location, in my opinion. I’ve had good service here and not so good service, and sometimes you have to wait for a table, because this location is small and usually packed. This café has the BESTCOFFEE I’ve ever had at a restaurant! Brewed strong, fresh and hot– I’m a happy customer. The food is standard, stick-to-your-ribs, American fare; portions are big. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and amount of food. Parking can be a pain when it’s busy.

Great tasting food… Big portions… Great service! You can’t go wrong at this restaurant! Manager & wait staff here are always very personable. Never had bad service when we go. They’re only open until 2.30pm. The restaurant is not that big so wait time can be long(especially with a big group) but worth it for us. This restaurant is located on the east side of town so it is very convenient for us. It is clean, love the stainless steel top on the tables, restrooms are ok, interior décor is cute. Just too bad they are not open for dinner or we would be here more frequently. Our daughter loves the 3 times 3. That’s what she orders each time we go. It’s an omelet with ham, bacon, sausage and melted American, jack and cheddar cheese. Hubbie have previously ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken and it was good! It’s a chicken breast made like the Chicken Fried Steak. Great option for him since he stays away from red meat. I’ve previously tried their New York Steak with Eggs. It’s was alright. Not bad but I’ve had better. Also tried the corned beef hash at a recent visit. It was a little too salty for my taste. I will give it another try. And hubbie ordered a protein style burger and salad to substitute the fries at a recent visit. He said it turned out good. Children’s menu has a lot of choices as well as their senior plates. And both have big portions for being kids and senior plates!

Giant portions and everything tastes great I had the country fried chicken and it was perfectly crisp. The gravy was peppery, the country potatoes were well seasoned, and the scrambled eggs were just fine. I barely had any biscuits and gravy which seems like a overkill for a meal of that size. I even had some pancakes which were nice and fluffy, not rubbery like sole other places(hi Denny’s). It’s also insane that the lunch includes a free dessert. How does anyone leave here without leftovers? and if you like coffee, they have plenty of flavored creamers

What can I say, I’m a fan of Spencer’s regardless of the location. I frequent the one in Southwest Bakersfield and absolutely love everything I’ve tried. Once I got the menu here and saw that it was exactly the same, I was a happy guest! I am trying to eat better so I went for a grilled chicken sandwich on wheat bread with guacamole. It was very tasty! Their guaca looks like it was made here with big chunks of avocado in it. I really liked it! The side of fruit, on the other hand was not so good. It for sure came out of a tin jar or something covered in sugary goop. Not too fond of it but oh well… Can’t be great at everything I guess… I’ve had their breakfasts at the other location and everything has been very tasty. My friend had their crepes today and ate every last bite! They looked delicious. The service was ok. It wasn’t fantastic but it wasn’t bad either. It was just ok. It might be because I’m not a regular here and I am at the other location so I expected more but it was fine. I did see a few regulars, though and it was nice to see the servers greet them so nicely even hugging a couple of them! The place looks fairly new and was very clean. There’s TV’s at this location too! ;) The décor is cute as well. I’ll definitely be back sometime!

The service was very friendly! They are a little local diner and it felt like it. We enjoyed the food very much here. It was down home comfort food for breakfast and my husband, my 9 year old son and I all loved our meals. Would recommend to anyone. Really liked it.

Had breakfast at Spencer’s for the first time this weekend I should’ve left as soon as my coffee was brought to my table. It had a lipstick stain on the cup. So me and my BF decided we’re here what can possibly happen. We ordered and our food was not good. The country potatoes were hard not cooked all the way the eggs didn’t taste like fresh eggs my BF said they may be egg beaters which I have never tried. Not returning to this restaurant :(

We eat here very often. The food is reasonably priced, service is good and it is consistently good quality. They have lunch specials that vary. A few weeks ago my wife got a taco salad and it was like a nacho with a little something more(not to greasy at all). Today, I had the tri-tip sandwich and the wife had the fish a chips. We also shared a small bowl of veggie soup. The sandwich was perfection. I could only eat half and took the rest home for later. Meat was cooked well(not pink, but not dry), the bread was a fresh soft roll, it had perfectly melted cheese and my favorite an ajuoe dipping sauce(sure I spelled that wrong). I have to admit our fries were a little overcooked; if we weren’t in a hurry I would have sent then back, but they were still good. My wife got fish and chips. Again, a very hearty portion! Really good, not greasy, big cuts of fish(not fishy) and a perfect tarter sauce. As always, they offer w complimentary desert with your meal. I had sherbet, and the wife had peach cobbler. I usually get bread pudding because it’s my favorite. Our usual order is chicken fried steak(the breakfast-not the lunch) w/biscuits and gravy!!! It’s served all day. My wife likes the all y can eat salad and soup with the yummy cornbread. I can’t say enough about this place, but honestly, would have gotten more if my wife didn’t know I had already had lunch earlier(don’t tell).

I love this place! I have lagged on leaving a review but hopefully, I’m not too late to sing their praises. Spencer’s has a been one of Bakersfield best kept secrets. I whole heartedly agree with my friend Sheryce’s statement of Spencer’s paying«ode to good olé American, hearty breakfasts». That statement could not be 150% correct. The omelettes, the biscuits and gravy, chicken fried steaks are among their signature menu items. Lunch is just as great too. I fell in love with their French dip sandwiches — the ratio to meat and bread are a great proportion… the BLT’s are great too.(Although, I prefer BT’s because I’m not a fan of T’s.)

The first thing that went threw my head when I walked into the restaurant was this place is awesome. It has an old rustic modern barn feel. The lady in the front found me a table asap. Coffee was good not the best best it was okay. Orange juice was yummy. We order«Mexicali» and«The border» my Mexicali plate was good but my has browns were cold. and the border was delicious. I wish I order it. Our server brought fresh salsa which was great.

Been there twice for breakfast. The best place on the east side. Close to 178 for those who travel. Highly recommend the chili verde scrambled. Surprised how good it was. The Verde is a western style instead of south of the border style and that’s what makes it work with eggs. Today I had the Border Skillet with country potatoes and biscuits w/gravy. I’ll post a picture. On my third visit I noticed that there is an outside eating area. I don’t know how to change my original information.

This is probably the best café food place on the East Side. Certainly best in NE. Very busy, bustling… super cool the Fox News was on big TV’s with KUZZ going as the Background music. A lot of older clientele mixed with some business lunch types. Cindy’s be on alert, this is what you used to be. Had a hamburger and fries and it rocked. The Chili seemed from scratch and had some great flavor, Cumin and the right heat. Friend had chicken strips and it was a huge plate of them and they looked from scratch. The girls were all nice, especially for how busy it is. Saw some pies going out the door too(Day before Thanksgiving) would love to try those next time. If you like American down home diner food, eat here. Again, best in NE Bakersfield… period.

The search for a egg cooked right is still on… had high hopes here but over medium = the whites are firm not snotty! The rest of my breakfast experience was great thus the 4 stars. Ordered the biscuits breakfast with sausage patty. The gravy came in the side in a shop bowl, biscuits were delicious and huge, the sausage patty was like nothing I’d ever seen! Definitely worth stopping in for breakfast.

Always hunting for more east side eats! When I saw the sign for this place from the fwy, I made my hubby pull off the at the next exit to do a drive by to make sure I was seeing correctly! A Spencer’s?! Jackpot! Spencer’s pays ode to good olé American, hearty breakfasts. I dig their scrambles, biscuits and gravy, and crispy hasbrowns. Stick to the classics here and you won’t regret it. There is a photo of The Duke on the wall and old school country music was playing inside. And, you have to see what they’ve done to the place! It’s so cute and modern inside. Mosey on over and check this place out!
