Rad Thrift Store

Yikes! Enormous store filled mountains of trashed items. Seriously this stuff looks like it was pulled from the trash or a filthy hoarder house. That being said it is a giant store and I’m sure if you put the time in you could pull out a gem or two. Prices are reasonable /​cheap.

Yep, everything they say is true but employees are great and you can find some real bargains here so it’s worth it.

This place is a beautiful mess! It very dirty but the things you find… Would not recommend you shop unless you are ready to battle. There is stuff everywhere! It is like going into an old house that has been abandoned for years.
The plus sides are:
There is always some type of sale going on.
They staff are friendly.
Vintage heaven.
Low prices.
Again this place is very dirty but tons of fun for those who truly love a bargain.

It’s dirty and smelly. I spent about 2 minutes in there and will never return. I would never buy anything in there. I wouldn’t even take anything for free. I would for sure worry about bringing home bed bugs or other creepy stuff.

Cleanliness is not a strong point here. It’s large and defiantly has potential to be better organized.
With that said, they had exactly what we were seeking ! Can’t beat the prices, goodwill charges more for the same used up stuff !
I really like browsing through things, and find that the clothing being in color order fulfills the OCD side of me!
The shoes though, please someone throw some odor eaters inside them, or even hang a few car freshness on the racks ! Ironically enough we needed pair of shoes for our Halloween project, so I held my breath grabbed those boots and ran to the register ! Hand sanitizer to the rescue .
Need costumes, Halloween dummy making, furniture refurbs, even antique looking dolls. They got it !

Don’t bother donating stuff. They DON’T come to pick it up & your front stoop looks like a garbage dump for a day.

I found stuff here for an 80’s party a while back. I often come to check out.
This place is dirty and a bit unorganized, haunting really.
However, it is a bargain. If you can come in and NOT feel like you just walked into a hoarder’s home, then YOU’LL HAVE FUN!

There are some great finds to be found here from time to time. The owner/​manager is a nice guy and usu will work w you re pickup and pricing. Store looks messy upon entering but don’t be fooled.

Gather its a thrift store, this by far is quite a filthy place. Its chaotically disorganized and you would spend hours searching for what you want. The place could use a huge makeover by cleaning it up and categorizing stuff in order so its customer friendly. Its quite similar to a disorganized yard sale where everything is thrown out on a tarp. I bypass places that lack some sort of organization instead of wasting time sorting through it for them.

This place is huge but very messy! The workers also seem clueless about store procedures. I asked about a price and a worker didn’t attempt to find out with management. Not the greatest customer service.

Mom and I both found some treasures here today for cheap, but neither of us could get past how far downhill this place has gone over the years. This place is dirty; I mean disgustingly filthy. It’s dusty and smells moldy; this place is not good for my allergies, and I was a little concerned that it might spark an asthma attack. All the racks are in disarray, and there is no air conditioning. None of the customers with children were keeping an eye on them. Compared to this place, Goodwill feels like Nordstrom; looking at this thrift store, it just seems like nobody cares.
Which is rather odd, because each of the three workers we interacted with were friendly, helpful, and seemed like really on-​the-​ball go-​getter types who gave us great customer service. There is a real disconnect here that I find quite puzzling.
5 stars for the customer service,
3 stars for the bargains,
–2 stars for being disgustingly filthy and possibly putting my health at risk,
It all averages out to 2 stars and the feeling that I’ll never be able to scrub hard enough to get myself clean.

In an attempt to cut down on the horrors of «fast fashion», sweatshop labor, and the mass production of disposable clothing, a while back I decided that 90% of whatever clothing I buy would be second hand.
I’ve been bit by the shopping bug, so I spend alot of time now at various thrift stores. Unfortunately, most like Goodwill or Salvation Army are crammed with 2000s+ clothing, and an abundance of low quality brands, like Target, F 21, GAP, etc.
For some reason, Rad is one of the few thrift stores that still has a decent amount of legit vintage clothing. Maybe the people selling back to consignment stores don’t want to dig– because at Rad, it’s a neccesity. It’s always too busy, far too messy, slightly musty, and not even close to organized. Not for the «non shopper». But real treasures can be found, at ridiculously low prices. You just have to be absolutely prepared to spend a while, and to have an open mind.
Last Sat, I went and dug and found a beautiful vintage linen skirt (50s?). It was .95 cents… with a 50% discount! What the. I paid 51 cents for a gorgeous skirt you can’t find anywhere else. With a bit of tailoring, it’s now compliment city.
All in all, Rad is pretty.rad. It’s probably one of the cheapest thrift stores in town, and it’s great for those who can’t justify the prices of antique/​consignment. Just make sure you’re in the right mindset, you’ve had a good meal, and you brought the hand sanitizer. It’s all worth it, for that shopping high.

I was driving through Bakersfield, and I thought I would see if there were any thrift stores open on Sunday which is a rarity. Rad Thrift was on yahoo voices as one of the «Top 3 thrift stores in bakersfield» and they were open on sundays! Yay.
The parking lot was full, and it was open I was excited. Upon entering I realized it was bigger than I expected. Big and MESSY. Nothing is organized and there is stuff all over the floor. I would normally shy away from that because I hate looking through a ton of stuff, but I was here one time only so I delved in hoping to find some treasures.
I found a few things, but nothing spectacular. There was a sale on womans clothes with green or blue tags (none of the stuff I had), but I was glad even on sundays they had some kind of sale.
If I am back in Bakersfield for some reason, I will stop by and see what else I can find!

Besides it being messy, Rad’s has a lot of clothing for sale at low prices. They have sales both Wednesday and Saturday between morning and afternoon hours. I’ve found good items here every time I’ve gone, so I gave it four stars because that’s the whole reason I go there anyways! It doesn’t smell, and it’s not as bad as other reviews are making it out to be. The next time I go I’ll take pictures of the inside and post them here.

So far the biggest thrift I’ve found in Bako. The actually have a good selection of stuff in the men’s department. I bit dingy, but worth checking out at least once.

This place is very dirty and it smells!!! I had to use the bathroom and it was so disgusting I almost threw up! I’m never coming back. The clothes are like rags, the place is a dump!

I wanted to leave after 5 minutes. Yeah its a thrift store, but at least at the others its what I call organized chaos.
