This is not a place I would come by to eat. I got a chicken Sandwhich and my boyfriend got hot wings. They both tasted the same. It was not very good. If you want to play pool and listen to music that’s fine. Bartender/server was too busy talking too much. We couldn’t get her attention to pay our bill. I wouldn’t go there for the food.

I am giving Mc Murphys zero stars based on the fact that when I see the words Irish pub, that is what I expect., we went into McMurphys on a Saturday night after a friend found an Irish Pub on the Internet. Unfortunately my phone was dead or I would have Unilocaled a better option. Upon arrival we were super disappointed to find a lame club scene with a hip hop vibe. If I wanted to go to a club I would have stayed at the Padre hotel not my scene. Unfortunately our friends had already ordered a beer so our ears were tainted for the 3 minutes it took them to pound it. Hey you wanna be a club be a club but don’t claim Irish pub. When I walk into a Irish pub I expect to hear The Pogues, or The Cheiftans or at the very least some Flogging Molly or Dropkick Murphys.

My wife and I expected a lot from the fantastic reviews. The first issue– they had ONE«Irish» beer… Guinness. BUT! They had Dos XX’s and Modelo on tap! Viva Bakérsfiéld! The second-my wife ordered a Long Island. Result = windex. The third– I ordered a house whiskey and water and was charged for Jameson… what I got was of a quality lower than antifreeze. The fourth-my wife ordered BONEIN wings with BLUECHEESE and got boneless with ranch, the the server wanted to argue with my wife and tell her that she was wrong about her order. The fifth– I ordered a side of sweet potato fries and got regular ones. BOTTOMLINE– if you want a fake Irish bar with crappy«American» and Mexican beer with terrible service and fake liquor come here.

Came here on a Saturday night. The drinks were good, not too overpriced. The bartender was nice and informative. Later in the night, they had a dj. The music was a great mix of country and random 90s hits. I love that their pool table is coin operated and only costs a buck per game! Did not get a chance to taste any of the food, or check out the outdoor area. Interesting mix of people were there. I wish they would stick to the irish theme a little more? Maybe have a drink menu with some clever twists of classic irish drinks? Maybe have more irish décor? Ditch the cheesy leprechauns, please! The location is not the greatest, but also not too far of a drive from other downtown bars and eateries. I would come here again.

This place is a joke, nothing more than a corner bar Forget about ordering food, menu is pretty shallow Not to mention the chick behind the bar was more interest in drinking her shots the customers were buying her, had no interest I’m taking my food order(yes I was seated at the bar) Thanks but no thanks I’m outta here

Not quite sure what to think of this place. It’s hard to find and get to, has weird hours, and calls itself a «gastropub», even though they only serve lunch. Came in one night, and it was totally dead, about 2 other people in there, and the bartender said she was closing soon. It was 10 pm. So, decided to go in for lunch one day with my guy– and I ordered Fish and Chips. They were just so-so. The breading wasn’t very crispy and it didn’t stick to the fish at all; fries were ok for industrial, frozen French fries. It wasn’t exorbitantly priced, and the portions were good sized, just didn’t see what every one raves about food wise. Maybe I went in on a day when someone was filling in for the cook? I might try the food again, I may not. Beer was good, decent selection, fresh and served cold :)

Stopped in here today for a quick lunch… was I ever surprised by the food… I ordered the special. Shepherd’s Pie… kudos to the chef for a beautiful prep and presentation. The meat filling was perfectly seasoned, vegetables were al dente, mashed potatoes were covered in a delicious cheese and browned to perfection. This was served with a nice garden salad and corn bread. Makes me wish I still lived here so I could visit more often… I will definitely be back for lunch when I visit again.

Wonderful spot. Love the old brick and great food. The owner is great and she is there to serve you and to ensure you are well satisfied. You won’t be disappointed. Plus, there is plentiful scooter parking out front! No negatives here

My husband and his friend rode down on the Harley’s today and met me here for lunch. None of us had ever been here but I have passed by since my office is a block away and I am pretty happy we did. We walked in and I was really impressed with the cleanliness and look of the place. Brick walls, a nice long bar, a small stage, a pool table and a few tables. They have 11 beers on tap and daily lunch specials. Today’s special were chicken enchiladads… odd to have at an Irish pub but whatever. I had the Assiago Tri Tip sandwich that came with a sauteed cabbage with bacon. Both items were wonderful. My husband had the Irish Nachos which were criss cut fries loaded with wonderfulness on top. My friend had a burger and he loved it. The bread was great, the lettuce and tomato were fresh as well. The bartender was nice and always asked if we needed anything else. All in all a good experiance, I would definitely go here again!

I came here late one night. We ordered a few drinks(I drank Coca-Cola) and hung out at the bar. I never felt comfortable here. It was probably all of the Oakland Raiders jerseys being worn by other patrons. That never feels comfortable for me as a Niners fan. Oh, that and it was late June, early July and there was no NFL football at that time! Anyway, I won’t be back any time soon.

A beautifully little Irish bar with red brick walls and a kitchen in the back. I stopped in for lunch this week and ordered the Thanksgiving Sandwich $ 10 and opted to swap the salad that came with it for sweet potato fries for an additional $ 3. The food was very good, made with quality ingredients and a skillful hand. It’s clear they have a talented cook and that food was not an after thought for this bar. Sandwich, fries, and a coke came to $ 16.09. Unfortunately for me, this is a bit much for a lunch time sandwich. Although, If you were out drinking and were hungry(who cares about money at this point), this would be a nice place to end up.

Odd location, it’s kind of under an overpass, but not quite. The place has been around for ages and the everything is pretty consistent. Good selection of beers on tap and apparently great food(I have yet to try). This place is insanely crowded on St. Patrick’s Day(as most Irish pubs are), but try them out any other night. I know I’ll be back for their food!

Let me say that I was very impressed with McMurphys. I drive by all the time but can’t stop for a bite to eat since I’m always with the kiddos! Today I got my chance!!! The menu had a bunch of game time foods since Sunday football is on with the exception of the McMurphys burger. It was a fresh hand made angus burger with lettuce, tomato, carmelized nions, bacon, and a jalepeno guacamole on a ciabatta type bun. I’m not sure if there was cheese but the thing was very juicy and didn’t need the extra ooomph that cheese gives a burger. The burger was cooked well and I am pleased I took the bartenders recommendation. I also had a side of sweet potato fries which were the best I have ever had. They had what looked like parsley and lime seasoning which made them very good. Cooked crispy just the way I like them. I finished the meal off with a cold glass of beer which went well with the burger and fries. The service was good. The bartender didn’t let me run dry and the other staff was very friendly. I would really call this pub food since it’s mile beyond that. Anyone who likes burger should definitely give McMurphys a try. I will be back soon to review more of the menu!!!

Well I’ve been coming here for lunches for the last couple of months, and the quality and cosistancy of the food has been getting better and better. They run a daily special, and the quality of the fresh products the chef uses shows up on the plate and on the palate. It is refreshing to find a chef excited about his food in Bakersfield, and I would highly recommend discovering this place for yourself before the downtown lunch crowd overwhelms this place.

The second I walked into the bar I was in awe. It immediately looked like what I always picture a bar to look like. Currently for lunch they offer food by Culinary Creations. I had the Hamburger and Sweet Potato fries. I usually don’t eat hamburgers unless they’re home made on a grill. I’m in LOVE with the hamburger. It was amazing. I can’t wait til I go back again, I would really love to try something new on the menu but I don’t know if I can NOT get the hamburger it was too good! The staff there is super friendly and very helpful. Its a great place to stop in for lunch and a drink!
