Hudson Performance Engineering

Love, love, love Hudson Performance Engineering.
My husband and I won’t go to any other mechanic. And one of our biggest worries about moving out of town is literally being able to find another mechanic as honest and reliable as Vincent at this little Oildale mechanic shop.
I trust this shop so much, because they’ve earned it. And anytime I get that annoying laundry list of fix-​its from other car places that serviced my oil changes and what not, I take it in to Vincent at Hudson’s to see if I really need to get it done. Usually, he says what’s on that list isn’t really necessary. And he’s kept my jalopy running for way more years than it should have, so he would know.
I’ve saved SO MUCH money on car-​related stuff with Hudson’s. I really can’t recommend them enough.
That being said, this shop isn’t for everybody. Here’s a quick run down of pros/​cons to know if it’s right for you.
Pros:
— Doesn’t fix things that aren’t broken.
— Reliable: always finds what’s wrong and fixes it. I’ve never left with an issue unresolved.
— Price: fair, even cheap prices for what you get (they could charge more, honestly).
Cons:
— Sometimes takes awhile to get in. It’s a tiny shop with limited space, and they’re in heavy demand. Call ahead. He’ll usually tell you to «bring it by Monday morning, okay?» :)
— Sometimes takes awhile to get your car back. They’re thorough and kind of laid back in their approach (an almost Southern approach to timeliness). You won’t get a lot of urgency unless you push for it, which I don’t recommend you to do.
— Sometimes you have to call in to check on your car yourself if they lose your phone number. Small price to pay for the high caliber and low price point service, if you ask me.
Hudson Performance Engineering is for you if: you’re on a budget, have an older car, have an issue in your car other mechanics can’t fix, or resent it when mechanics give you a laundry list of fix-​its when you just wanted an oil change.
Hudson Performance Engineering is NOT for you if: you want slick waiting rooms with big screen TVs or service on a second’s notice.
