Alley Cat is the quintessential Bakersfield dive bar. Although rough at times, it’s a place where people from all walks of life can go for cheap drinks. Even though it can get really packed on weekends, the bartenders are pretty quick. Although the beers are cheap and the pours are strong, I usually come here to kick the night off with a couple of shots. My only complaint about this place is the urinal placed dangerously close to the sink in the men’s room.

Thought this was upgraded bar looked good til you order a drink! Bartender with the ugly thin long hair was very rude an was too busy flirting with girl s I’m assuming cuz they were pretty young like he had a chance ! Won’t bother to go there again me or my 5 friends

Perfect little dive bar. From the jukebox to the hospitality of the bartenders. Never a dull moment at this establishment. Bubba, Ryan, and John can turn your frown upside down. If your ever in the downtown area of Bakersfield, don’t forget about the world famous Alley Cat.

Without fail, Drew and Bubba make the Alley Cat my favorite place in town. They take such good care of me. Service with a smile, prompt, and a sense of family make it «my local pub.»

I just recently turned 21 & this was the first bar I went to downtown, the bartender bubba has made me want to go back every time since! His drinks are the best and he’s one of the coolest people to talk to! Plus his drinks are delicious, I definitely suggest the pornstar & vampire.
