Empire Eye and Laser Center

I recently bought a pair of glasses here and they made my face hurt so badly I had to stop wearing them. It took three days for the pain to go away.
The frames are simply too small for me. When I called to see if they could take them back, they said they don’t do refunds. I realize it’s not in their best interest to take back lenses that were made for me, but the Prada frames can certainly be returned. And the lenses are covered by my insurance, so it’s no loss to Empire. A partial refund should absolutely be possible.
It’s a huge hassle for me to have to go back in, see if the frames can be adjusted (they’ve already been adjusted once), and then endure all that pain again. I can’t take time off work to spend another hour in their waiting room waiting to try something that won’t work. The first one didn’t work.
What am I going to do with my $ 300 new glasses that I can’t wear? Let them collect dust? This entire visit was a huge waste of time and money.
The other thing I didn’t like was the $ 40+ add-​on eye photo they very heavily «suggest» you get. It should be included in the exam fee. I had two people with a heavy handed sales pitch insist that I get it, as if it were urgent, and then the photo showed absolutely nothing of concern. What a waste of my time and money. I prefer my doctor to focus on my health, not sales.

I want to give an update to my last post about this business. It is not often that the level of integrity of a business surpasses my expectations, but Empire Eye and Laser has clearly done that. After my last visit, I was contacted by the Dr.‘s office. Immediately they acknowledged their error and apologized. They owned it. That is a HUGE deal in my book. The next day (a Saturday) the office called me again and reiterated their apologies for the error and indicated that Dr. Chang wanted to «make it right.» I scheduled another appointment, to which they were extremely accommodating to my schedule. I am so glad that I did not let one experience deter me from coming back. They clearly care about their patients and hold themselves to a Gold Standard of service.

I wont recommend this place. First I called in for the purpose of seeing the ophthalmologist but the lady insist that their «optemetrist dr.» can see and take care of my husband. Well, since my husband’s eyes are soo red because of the abbrasion I decided to make an appointment. When we came to their office the optometrist started to looked at the eye infection and he said it’s just an abbrasion. He started saying about getting blood work which my husband did, guess what??? When we went back for the follow up check up he was expecting us to go to our primary doctor to get the blood result, when in the very first place we seek for a specialist to check for us, and I think that’s their job to contact about the blood work result. Second, he started saying that «maybe my husband has lopus» like it’s a joke or something, due to what he said we finally contact our primary physician to ask about the blood work and told what the optometrist says about lopus, our primary physician said that the optometrist did not even ask for a specific lopus blood work. It’s very disappointing we felt like we just went to this office to get a «maybe» kind of answer. It seems like he was just guessing and doesn’t have enough experieced. We will never come back and we will definitely look for another eye specialist that must have much experince! What a waste of time and money!

The eye doctors are all good here. But the 5 stars are for the support staff, especially Andrea! She is extremely helpful and professional with a healthy sense of humor! She just repaired my glasses on the spot before the holiday weekend so I would not have to imitate Mr. Magoo for 5 – 6 days! Awesome!

Today was my first time to go to Empire Eye to get my eyes examined. I had gone to one of the large box store for a couple of years and didn’t feel I received a good exam. From the receptionist to the girl who did some of the initial examination they were all great. After the lady did the initial work a another man came in and finished it the exam. Then the Dr Dang came in and double checked everything that was done. Dr Dang is friendly and extremely impressive. He explained everything in detail as I had been concerned abut having floaters. I left feeling like I had received a excellent examination and my husband and I had found our new eye Doctor. I highly recommend this office and doctor.

The entire staff here is friendly and helpful — from the assistants at the front desk, to the employees helping you choose your glasses, to the support staff in the doctor’s offices, and, of course, the actual doctors. I’ve seen Dr. Bajwa, Dr. Dang and both Dr. Changs here, and they’re all always professional and personable. It’s just nice to know that a visit to the eye doctor is actually going to be an OK time.

This is the best Optometrist I’ve been to in Bakersfield. The other reviews are for the Southwest location which has it’s own Unilocal review board and those should be moved there as to not taint the quality of service provided at this location.
I used to go here a while back, switched jobs and my insure wasn’t excepted there so I had to move. Now my insurance is and I’m back. I really like this place. They are your one stop shop for anything eye related. Lasik, contacts, eye lid surgery, glasses, you name it they do it.
The girls at the front counter are always friendly and will work with you to get you the appointment you need. Initial contact with the staff is always good. I guess my only complaint is that sometimes it can get pretty busy and you may have a little bit of a wait if other patients take are taking a little long.
They have a great selection of glasses and their contact specialists are amazing. Gave me a better fitting contact and was super nice.
I highly recommend them if you need a new optometrist.
