These classes are mostly for adults, but teenagers are welcome. I have been teaching couples-​style dancing for 35 years. I teach the following:

Ballroom Dancing: Foxtrot, Waltz, Swing (East Coast, West Coast, Lindy) and Polka; Latin Dancing: Cha-​Cha, Salsa, Merengue, Tango, Rumba, and Samba; and

Country Western Dancing: Country 2-​Step and Country Waltz, plus the old standards like Cotton-​Eyed-​Joe, the 10-​Step, etc.

History

Established in 1981.

I began teaching in 1981 at a local nightclub, and progressed to training with the GSDTA (Golden State Dance Teachers Association). I have taught as an independent contractor since 1988.

In 1977 for fun and exercise I started taking lessons in Hula and Tahitian dancing, and was soon dancing on the Leilani Kalihi performing company. In 1980 I began learning to Country Dance and within five months was teaching classes at the popular Funny Farm Saloon where I taught for seven years. In the late 90s I branched out into West Coast Swing, and then Ballroom Dancing and Latin Dancing soon came after that. Most of my training was with the Golden State Dance Teacher’s Association. I have had four performing teams, and taught for Bakersfield College for 8 years and for the City of Bakersfield Parks and Rec for 8 years. I have been an independent contractor for the last 25 years, and currently rent studio space from Studio 9.
