The 2015 – 2016 season will be unlike any the BSO audience has ever experienced. We have ended the long two year search for a new music director and have appointed the position to Stilian Kirov, Juilliard graduate in orchestral conducting and prize winner at the prestigious 2015 Malko Competition. This year, we have an incredible lineup of season concerts as well as special concerts outside of our regular schedule. The BSO is proud to provide musical entertainment and inspiration to the Kern County Community. Join us as we celebrate BSO’s 84th season of exceptional music.
History
Established in 1932.
Beginning in 1932 with a nucleus of determined, dedicated, and talented individuals, the Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra (BSO) has expanded into the multi-faceted organization it is today. What started out as a few small performances, in local high school auditoriums, turned into 60 – 80 musicians performing in massive concert halls for thousands of people. 84 years later, the BSO stands as a tribute to the community it serves.
