Scott is an amazing man and massage therapist. He really does the best work, EVER! I haven’t received many massages but he definitely aims to be your best yet. Everything he uses is all natural and his herbal methods really shine through. I felt so comfortable and relaxed the whole time and he gave me a great deal being a college student at CSUB. Couldn’t ask for better service.

I’ve been looking for a good massage place and I think I found the spot. Reasonable price with excellent service. Did a last minute reservation (Thank you to the person who canceled, I was due for a massage). I had THE BEST MASSAGE by Scott. He took care of my knots in my shoulders and neck that I have been suffering from for the past 3 weeks. I definitely will be coming back!!!

The best deep tissue massage I ever had! When you want more pressure she will give you more not like them other places. I left this place able to feel my fingers and toes after being numb for days! U will not be disappointed

I have been a customer of Bakersfield Spa Institute about 5 o 10 times per year. I have seen their prices increase from a very low $ 15 to $ 25 per hour and then to $ 28 and now $ 33 dollars per hour. I would always give a tip from $ 5 to $ 8 per visit. Even at $ 33 dollars an hour now days, they are still the most affordable massage workshop in Bakersfield.

A great massage for an unbelievable price! The aesthetics leave much to be desired but I feel great and am glad I trusted the Unilocal reviews and took a chance.

I’ve had a lot of massages, but where can u get a 3 hr deep tissue massage for $ 84? This is the place. I’d just driven 5 hrs the night b/​4 and felt like someone had inserted an iron plate just above my hip. I could barely walk, and it hurt!
Enter Fumi and the 3 hr massage. Saved me. The price is great! The masseuse very good, but the smell is a little stale. This is likely due to their location in an old house on a busy street. They’ve done a good job in eliminating street noise within, as the Spa music is peaceful and calming.

I had a massage there a few weeks ago and was both disappointed and impressed at the same time. I agree with the other reviews that Fumi definitely knew what he was doing and used very good techniques. The reason I am not giving 5 stars is because I was a little uncomfortable there. As other reviews stated it the décor was certainly lacking but I was fine with that. The reason I was uncomfortable was that the towel they give you to cover up with is the size of a hand towel (no sheet) so I left my shirt on. Also, I was uncomfortable with the amount of touching on my behind (now please don’t get me wrong, I did go in there complaining about my lower back and by NO means do I think he was inappropriate at all) I’m simply putting this in here so others who are uncomfortable with this as well are aware. But like I stated earlier he used very good techniques, and the price was amazing.

I had a massage yesterday with Fumi. This was, by far, one of the best massages I’ve ever experienced! He is obviously very knowledgable about the body and was very thorough and gentle. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is that the building is very dirty. It was a great massage, though, at a great price!

Greatness has to come from somewhere, right? This place is definitely a place to visit if you need to relax for a economy price. Sure it’s not the Hilton’s or a massage room in Bora Bora you BUT get your BANG for your buck here. Personally I enjoy soft touch and they always put me to sleep and I wake up relaxed. I can help but ask if I snored I was in Dead sleep lol :))

The prices have gone up to $ 28/​hr per person but still a great deal. They are normally closed on Sundays but can fit you in if you call ahead and make an appointment. The place is a bit sketchy since it’s a house remodeled into «spa». They massage your whole body with oil and hot towels, which were my favorite part!

The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is the cleanliness and lack of decoration of the lobby. It really could use a friendlier entry.
Other than that, everything was great! Erica gave a WONDERFUL massage that was extremely relaxing and veeeery professional. I was very impressed.

be sure to go on their website to check the specials first to get the best deal. Excelllent service and extremely unbeatable prices. There is no need to go to places like Euphoria to get the same service for 4x the price.
I paid $ 28 +tip for my wonderful 1 hr massage, Euphoria STARTS at $ 70/​hr +tip. Don’t waste your money there before you try this place out! i’m sure you will love it

Fumi is great for working out knots in my back. $ 34 for an hour. The environment lacks some to be desired but the massage can’t be beat. Access is from the alley behind Stockdale between Curran and MacDonald Way.

I really didn’t like the smell of the place. It smelled like an old home (because it is an old home) and cigarettes. There were a lot of fans too… so if you were contacts, bring your sunglasses with you. But I kept my ground and decided to stay. I’m glad I did.
Maria did an excellent job. She really worked my knots out. I think she used a little too much oil though.

I had an amazing 2 hour massage from Fumi and I’ve decided to go back and get one a month. Fumi is excellent and he worked on the areas that always hurt to help them calm down and behave. I know I’m going to undo the good work he did by the ordinary stressors in life, so getting a
monthly massage should help in a big way.
I encourage everyone who wants a really great massage to go to Fumi!

I wholeheartedly love this place. Came across it through Unilocal on the off chance that I can get a quick massage in while on my road trip. I got an appointment day of, loved my massage so much (plus my massage therapist offered to come in an hour earlier) that I returned the next morning before leaving Bakersfield for Monterey. Fumi is not only skilled in his trade, but a very kind and compassionate man. I wish I lived in Bakersfield because this is a top notch massage clinic. Beware parking is in a small lot behind (south) the building, and by building, I mean, former house. It’s a cozy, homey, earthy type of place. My kind of place.

I reserve five stars having my mind boggled by the experience but with that being said, I will be going again because I understand it takes time for a masseuse to know the ins and out of the body. I’ll review again on the return visit.
Fumi was my masseuse and he did an amazing job. He, with some time, found some of my chronic injuries that have my become ropey and tight with time. Like all massages, the hour of deep tissue splendid pain passed quickly. At the end Fumi gave me heads up that know that he knows what areas he knows need work he’ll go straight to it next time, I’m excited to return in a few weeks for him to mash me up.
Also its 25 for an hour, say whaaaaaaaaaa?!? Amazing.

This place is great and the prices are cheap!
It’s kind of hard to find — located in an old house on the South side of Stockdale Highway that has been converted into a business space. You have to access the tiny parking lot in the back from a side road (took me several trip to figure this out). The trick is to turn South on Curran and then turn into the alley on the right and drive behind the houses. If you’re not good at creative backing up, don’t even try it! You can always park on Curran or McDonald Way and walk around. The entrance is in the back, though.
You have your choice of having an experienced therapist or a recently graduated student work on you. I have found it is hard to tell which one is working on you because they are all so good. There are room dividers between each massage station to give you privacy from being seen, but they don’t reach all the way to the ceiling so you can pretty much hear everything that is going on at the adjacent stations. If you’re overly shy that may be an issue for you (it’s not for me) There is soothing music playing in the background to mask the sounds, and who really talks that much when you’re being massaged, anyway? The lighting and décor are subdued and create a very relaxing atmosphere.
They always seem to be running specials. Early this summer the massages on Mondays were only $ 20 an hour! Then for a while you could get all the add-​ons/​additional services at no extra charge on Mondays. I think that currently (until Sept. 17, 2011) all massages are $ 25/​hour Mon — Sat. You’ll have to check their website for whatever the current specials are, but it’s hard to beat their prices!
