Excellent facility! The staff is very professional and highly trained. I the Ranch in May of 2008 and have been clean ever since.

My son was at the residential facility in Piru. The director and counselor for the family group meetings was one of the most rudest, arrogant, self-important people I have ever met. During group, he would provoke, embarass, degrade and berate the residents with their family and friends looking on. That may have been the way they did things in the ‘50s, but we’ve learned, hopefully, that’s not an effective way to help addicts. During the times they were not attending meetings, they were supposed to take them on field trips, hiking, swimming, gym time. This happened once and the residents were left to just sit in the backyard and smoke cigarettes. Also, it was near impossible to get anyone to answer the phones, even the 800 number. I tried returning their calls — they had a question regarding his medication — and a day laterstill no return call. After two weeks, my son left and attended their IOP(intensive outpatient program). The young counselor there was ineffective and would just rattle on like she was their best friend including cursing and talking about tattoos(for a half hour one day), Rarely did we speak about their issues or family issues. One particular session, she text the ENTIRE three-hour session. When I questioned her about it, she said she was texting an adolescent she works with. She also twice let the clients go a week without a meeting instead of getting a substitute. Unfortunately, it was during one of those weeks my son relapsed. All in all, I would not recommend this facility. Their procedures are archaic and ineffective and the right hand doesn’t seem to know what the left hand is doing.
