This A&W is part of a large truck stop complex, one of many in Baker, CA so find a lot of people stopping here. It has a shared seating area with places like Pizza Hut, Subway, the convenience store. Think of a food court in a mall. While it sounds great, be aware the several 1000(or more) people stop here and they place looks like. They think they do their best to keep it clean, but it’s not super pretty inside and has a very cluttered feel. Also, don’t expect super friendly service. I wouldn’t even call them that efficient. Not really their fault, it’s just the circumstances they are presented with. That being said, I always stop here for a Root Beer float because NOTHING beat A&W Root Beer!

We’ve stopped in many times on our travels, each time hoping for some improvement. This has to be the worst A&W on the planet. I’d like to think that if A&W corporate ever got a whiff of this place, it would close it and issue an apology to anyone who ever chose to eat here. The staff is shared with other«food» outlets in the food court arrangement they have. Sometimes the staff either doesn’t speak English or pretends not to. The food is never that good, and even the root beer doesn’t taste right. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re actually pouring it out of cans in the back. They don’t even use frosty mugs. If you’re traveling through Baker and are hungry, stop at the Chevron station instead and get a Snickers bar to hold you over.

Stopped by here on the way back from Vegas and, I must admit, for a mini food-court place, its not that bad. I got the chipotle crunch single patty burger, with fries and a drink. While the burger is kind of small, it definitely packs a punch. The chipotle sauce found in the burger is amazing. I loved it! As for the fries, I don’t know what it was, but I really enjoyed them. You get a good amount of fries, and mixed with a burger, you will surely be full by the end of the meal. The combos range from $ 6 – 7, which is standard pricing. Don’t forget to try the root beer, duh, its amazing!

Came by for a snack the other day on the way to Las Vegas. This location is a joint-location w/Pizza and some Wing Joint inside a gas station/rest area stopover. The location is dirty and the patrons are ghetto. The chicken tenders were oily, previously frozen, and very salty… yuck!

Root beer floats are made with hand scooped vanilla ice cream. They are not bad at all — pretty good for a quick serve restaurant. They don’t fill the cup with root beer because the ice cream makes it froth and spill over. You can add more rootbeer yourself at one of the soda fountains. You place your order at the counter and eat a the common tables in the mini-food court inside a gas station. I would come here for a snack and to take a break from highway driving.

I am biased as I live in Los Angeles and every time I drive to Las Vegas it takes you past Baker where I always pull over for A&W. How can you resist taking a break… enjoying some fresh french fries combined with a greasy burger and an A&W Rootbeer Float!!! There are not any A&W’s where I live anymore so this is a TREAT to say the least… just toss your diet out the window and enjoy!

Must try their cheese curds! Delish little snack that is the perfect size for munching in the car. They are made with white Wisconsin chedder and are probably the best gosh darn thing on the menu. No joke! My boyfriend and my friends are hooked on them all because of me! I also enjoy their rootbeer floats just because it’s A&W :)

This was a pit stop heading back home to Los Angeles from Vegas. You would either stop here or Barstow. Personally, I stop at both to give my car a rest. The only reason I came here is for the A&W float. I love it especially in a hot day. There are no A&W stores where I come from so try to make it to this one every time I come back home.

When you feel like having an A&W root beer float out in the middle of nowhere, look no further! All of their root beer floats come in to-go containers and not the glass mugs that I usually have the floats in when you dine in. This location inside the gas station is interesting cause it’s 1 of 4 different restaurants in a food court style setting. I had their root beer float and an order of chili cheese fries. They’re both your standard fare that you’ll get an any other A&W minus probably better ambiance.

This place is interesting. The food is average, but A&W is famous for its root beer. The worker was also working the registers for two other fast food options in the Grewal Travel Center, which I thought was an odd way for the owners to save money. I hope he’s getting paid to work 3 jobs, though they’re at the same time! After he took my lovely wife’s order, he had to scurry two kiosks over to take another couple’s order for Pizza Hut.
