History
Established in 2013.
The Dayaalu Center is the dream of Sue Steindorf to colocate practitioners of Traditional and Western healing arts. It began as The Island Yoga Space in 2009, a yoga teacher collective. In 2012 an opportunity arose to move the center into central Winslow and expand the offerings. With the help of a great builder, architects, and craftsmen, the new center opened in November 2013. It is a place of simple beauty and calm. It currently houses many yoga, movement and dance classes, a psychotherapy practice, meditation and painting classes, shamanistic healing, concerts and the Sukhi (happy) kitchen featuring vegetarian take out. Soon body work and a Sauna are set to open.

Business Owner
Sue is a graduate of the University of Washington with a degree in Kinesiology. She received an MS degree in Physical therapy from Boston University and then worked at Seattle Children’s hospital and became Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT) certified in 1991. She also became Sensory Integration certified (SI). About 10 years ago Sue completed RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) certification in Yoga for the Special Child/Integral Yoga. In 2009 she moved her practice to The Island Yoga Space and began teaching adults as well.
Since then she has continued her training, completing an additional 200+ hours of RYT certified training and deepened her study of yoga philosophy and texts.
Sue is sought out for her gentle but deeply authentic classes which combine the traditional yogic elements– breath, chanting, postures, meditation and relaxation. She has assembled a group of outstanding teachers practicing across the spectrum of yoga to help you restore your inner wholeness.
