I have been shopping here for quite some time, in no small part because I believe in shopping locally and supporting small business. However, my last experience was enough to keep me away. I bought a chew toy because I was looking for something that would stand up to my extremely chewy dog. When I told the person at the store that my dog was a big chewer, they told me this was one of the more durable toys they had and recommended it for dogs that really enjoy chewing. Well, I took this $ 14 toy home to the dog and he had it ripped up in 10 minutes! I thought that was pretty nuts, so I brought it back the next day. The employees– different from the person I spoke to– said that they couldn’t take it back unless it was a manufacturers defect, and from looking at it it didn’t look like that, it looked like the dog chewed it. No kidding– but if you tell me a toy is durable, is more than 10 minutes of play time too much to ask for? As the other reviewer said, there was no apology, no offer to make things right, or anything like that. It was a very frustrating and unfriendly experience. I cant say Im inclined to go back, and that’s unfortunate, but I do think customer service and good advice are the hallmarks of a local small business, and Im simply not getting that here.

The worst experience in a pet store ever! I took my six year old son in this store to buy a goldfish. He was carrying his wallet with his money that he earned himself. The two employees began talking to him in a condescending manner and would not sell him a goldfish because they do not live very long in a tank. Apparently 10 cent feeder fish belong in a pond. Because of the tone of these two adults, my mature for his age son, began crying in the middle of the store. There were no apologies, and we left feeling like criminals. I took him to Petsmart in Silverdale recently, we got the same speech, but the delivery was COMPLETELY different. We left the store with a Beta fish, smiles, and feeling a little more educated. I am all for shopping local, but you need to earn the respect of your customers. I will NEVER set foot in that store again. PetSmart for life!

When I left New Mexico (and, yes it’s a state!) I left an amazing pet food store called Long Leash on Life. I sort of pined for my pet store. Then I walked into Paws & Fins… I’m feeling like I can live here on Bainbridge Island now. Great food selection, prices are normal, super nice people, and a huge selection of pet treats.
My dogs are going to be so happy that I found this place.

I was here last week to get a new engraved tag for my dog.
The staff was polite and helpful. They carried excellent brands of dog food (Orijen), and everything was reasonably priced. I feed my dog Acana Ranchlands, which is relatively difficult to find on shelves. They didn’t have it, but offered to order it for me whenever I need it, which is awesome!
The store locally owned and operated. I will be back!

A small pet store but full of items and at reasonable prices, which is uncommon for smaller, non chain pet stores.

This is a great pet store, friendly and helpful owners and lots of good quality products. Unlike Petco and PetSmart they do not carry animals for sale in the store which is fantastic.
A previous reviewer said they are closed — this is not true, they moved and the address in Google Maps is currently wrong.

My daughters love going to Paws & Fins. Sometimes we take our pugs, Freddy and Yoda, into the store on leashes so they can snort around. They have all the foods we need: cat, dog, rabbit, and toad. I bought my father in law a parakeet there and he loves it still. This was about 2 years ago and the birdie is still alive and healthy. The owner, Wiccan, is a nice lady and the folks who work there are always helpful and friendly. They have a good selection of top quality dog and cat food. They also have cat scratching posts, leashes, harnesses, chew toys, nibbles, and assorted ointments, shampoos, and remedies. It’s an event destination sure to please any pet luvah.
