Okay, this is getting weird. I went over to Bainbridge Island today to spend time with a friend. School is out. We both have young kids and do not have a lot of free time. We went to Andante for coffee. It was out of business. My friend suggested Mud Puddle. She remembered it was funky and«kid friendly» … but, it is also out of business.

The first official stop on the weekend getaway, was here at Mud Puddle. A little late of a start cost us a possible stop before our reservations at Bloedel, but gave us some time to waste for the same reason. Service here doesn’t happen quickly, or seem to come with a smile. It was not that busy when we stopped in, but the sole employee seemed overwhelmed, or something. She made no attempt at anything but the absolute bare minimum to take your order, and each drink took quite awhile to get made. I just had a cup of tea, it was ridiculously hot. Drinking it there certainly wasn’t going to be an option. Don shared a bit of his lemon glaze bread(or something) and it was ok. A little spongy, but a nice balance of the lemon flavor. It seems a nice little place though. Fun, unique drinks offerings in addition to the basics, a wide variety of treats and such, random gatherings of seating options, wi-fi, and I don’t know what they do during it, but they have an «open mic’ night, and the stage is, of all things, an antique Murphy bed.

This used to be Books Bagels and Beans. Now its Mud Puddle Coffee Inc. They have good coffee in a very comfortable setting. I checked it out when we lost power and they had plugs to charge your computer as well as free WiFi. They have a bunch of muffins and bagels to choose from too — I just went for the coffee as they had a bunch of Sugar Free flavored syrups! They also have a frequent drinker card — get a free drink after 10. I love the sugar free Irish Cream in a fat free breve! Yum!
