It’s true that this location is premier, what’s not premier or ‘luxurious’ as advertised by the hosts is the actual accommodation. Even when a place has minor problems, I don’t write negative reviews as I know how hard it is for folks to run quality lodging.
We arrived at 3:05 and were greeted by the host who told us he had returned from Europe the night before and hadn’t had a chance to wash the sheets, he asked if that was OK that he would make the bed as the sheets were clean.
Red flag # 1 — the place is not professionally cleaned
Red flag #2 — he only has one set of sheets.
I had gotten a flu/​cold a couple of days before and my husband was getting sick — we just wanted to settle in, but agreed as I didn’t see another option. Keep in mind that this rental is advertised as ‘Luxurious Waterfront Lodging”, and the host says this is one of the «premier accommodations on the island», again, I agree that the location is premier, but the rental is far, far from luxury.
Red flag #3 — as you pull into the drive, straight ahead you see a huge plastic tarp on the roof of their home Red flag#4 — the walkway to the rental is half blocked by a large unsightly trailer covered in a blue tarp. The walkway was not swept and was covered with leaves. Since we had a couple of hours to wait, we walked down to the beach and saw the gazebo seating was unavailable as the trellis above had caved in and was hanging dangerously (and unattractively) above the chairs. All of this was most unwelcoming.
The old refrigerator was very loud AND the stove was dirty as well as the cookware having years of dirt on them.
We awoke the next morning by loud talking upstairs — the owners were arguing, obviously not concerned about their guests below. We showered and left for the day. But before we left we discovered these no longer red flags but blatant problems: 1) Mildew on the shower tiles 2) Mold on the shower curtain 3) Slow drains, both in bath sink and shower 4) Dim lighting in the bathroom 5) Only 1 roll of toilet paper
This rental has only the bare essentials — it’s stingy in its amenities, dirty and in need of upgrades. In no way ‘luxurious’ or ‘premier’, I’d call it subpar and in desperate need of some updating, cleaning and TLC. The hosts need to replace many, many things to get this place up to speed starting with the old saggy mattress, noisy refrigerator, threadbare towels, thin sheets and the cookware. Décor is a matter of opinion, but 3 vases of fake dusty flowers throughout the house won’t please anyone.
I took pictures of everything mentioned and am happy to share. The hosts need to see their place from a guests eyes and step it up.

We stayed here recently and loved the place. The hosts were available and responsive when we had a question and the suite looked exactly like the pictures. We happened to have great weather so could see Mount Rainier and the Ferry in Eagle Harbor.
The bed was super comfy and the location is minutes from downtown. I think the price is very competetive for being right on the water with a staircase from your entrance to the beach!
Will come back next year for sure!

My wife and I had a wonderful weekend getaway at Abode By the Sea. Great location, view, and neighborhood. The place looked exactly as pictured. It was very clean and had enough basic amenities to make you feel comfortable away from home. We will be back!

Can’t beat the view. Cute little bedroom and living room and kitchen and bath below the main house on the water. A bit dusty. Bed is pretty old now and too soft also. For the money ($ 250 per nt), its over priced. No food stocks in frig. Never saw the owner but that’s OK. Dated accessories and furnishings, although mostly cute.

Stayed here a couple days in January. A 35 minute ferry ride and another 5 minutes in a taxi and I felt a world away from Seattle. Located on a bluff above Eagle Harbor, there is ample outdoor seating to enjoy the massive expanse of water and sky. A curving set of wood and stone steps lead down to the water where one can barbeque, go kayaking, sit and relax, or walk on the beach. I saw an eagle swoop on some cormorants that were sitting out on a floating daïs (they dove and easily escaped him). The view of Mt. Rainier from the beach is unique and if one walks down a ways one can see the Seattle skyline.
The place is everything it is advertised to be: the windows overlook Eagle Harbor with the ferries coming and going, the kitchen is well equipped and the stove has gas burners, the bed is very comfortable, the television has more channels than I would ever watch, Wi Fi is free, the bathroom is clean and the showerhead is powerful. The owners were friendly and honored my privacy.
Photographers, artists, birdwatchers, couples, small families, kayakers, an individual looking to relax — I could go on — will all find something here. I found true peace and quiet.

This place is a piece of paradise… Quiet, Clean, Cozy and with a great view. Bed is very comfy too… its a place you hate to leave and want to come back to.:0)…marigene
