Years ago when I was completing my Masters coursework at Azusa Pacific University, I happened upon this 7-Eleven… «Happened upon,» because it is quite literally in a quiet neighborhood of apartments and condos. Zoning laws tend to cover a whole block, so you end up with multi-use properties across the street from residential areas. But I digress… Anyway, this particular 7-Eleven is small and older… Almost as though it was a liquor store/mini mart before a 7-Eleven opened here. The parking lot is small, and inside is a little dingy and cluttered, but they have the essentials: hot(usually) fresh coffee, fountain drinks, lottery tickets, etc. Parking in the small lot is tough for big trucks, and the adjacent street has hit or miss parking rules, due to the nearby University. However, access to this 7-Eleven is a lot easier than the store a few blocks west on Foothill, especially when you want to head eastbound to APU. There are some neighborhoods within walking distance that might get a little tough, but for the most part, things are pretty mellow around here. Oh thank heaven…

It’s a 7 – 11. It’s got 7 – 11’y things. Be wary of the wife of the owner, she’s rude and always on the phone. I mean you’ll still get your cigarettes or jerky or slurpee but you’ll be angry when you leave.

Doesn’t matter where the hell you are. 7-Elevens are always interesting places to be, especially once the sun goes down. From Long Beach to Fontana, to Azusa, it’s all the same. The dirty homeless, scandalous Morrissey listening latinas, bros and bruthas, a dozen different languages and all the snack foods, booze and what not that you could want. This particular location just happened to be close to our true destination that was The Donut Man. After some sweet donuts we needed something to wash it down with and coffee sounded nice. They’ve got that. Not as well attended like some of the other 7 – 11’s I’ve been to, but they have those STOK caffeine shots, which sadly don’t work. I was yawning no less than 30 minutes after drinking a coffee with two of them in it. Stay away from the 100% Columbian. Not good. Anyway, come here for your vintage Iron Man 2 cups, your I *heart* 7 – 11 t-shirts and Arizona hats, because you know, Azusa is so close to Arizona and all.
