Avondale Expert Alterations

A customer should never have to fear being called «difficult» for pointing out a problem with the service they paid for. Well that’s exactly what happened here.
The proprietor was friendly enough until I took back some items for additional alterations. After making me wait while she helped other customers, including one who came in after me, she rushed me through my fitting. She was very defensive of her initial work. I only asked for items that fit. She argued with me, then agreed to do the work for half the original fee.
I went today to pick up my items and was horribly disappointed. The first item has a crooked seam, so it does not lay flat when worn. The second item does not fit at all; it is far too tight. Did I mention the items are virtually identical? Clearly no comparison was made between the two to check for accuracy.
When these faults were pointed out, the proprietor told me she could tell I was difficult and would be hard to work with. The only difficult thing here is the quality of her work. I will now have to spend additional money to have another shop fix it. Hopefully readers will consider her poor skill and attitude before employing her services.

I had the straps on a camisole shortened for $ 8, the complicated top of a dress brought up at the sleeves for $ 25, and the hem of a silk dress shortened for $ 30. The work took a week. I think the alterations on the dresses are great, but the camisole straps leave something to be desired; the way they’re tucked in still shows at the back. However, the ladies were friendly, I felt the turn-​around was fast for everything I was having done, and the prices were reasonable. I’ll be back.
Important: BRING CASH. I didn’t know that they would expect a deposit (in cash – no cards whatsoever) for half of the final cost on the day I dropped off. Because it was my first time, they begrudgingly forgave me, but I didn’t know! Now you know. :)

I have used these wonderful ladies for countless alterations over the years. Just recently I needed the lining of several wool coats repaired. They do a great job inexpensively and timely.

I have been using Avondale Experts for the past 13 years. I take my clothes no where else. The owner alternates to your body no matter what I bring in. I recently moved and will travel the 35 mile distance knowing that my clothes are taylor made just for me. I promise you will not be sorry. Maybe sorry you took your clothes somewhere else.

I have brought several pairs of pants, a suit, and my wedding dress here with consistently perfect results. The turnaround is usually a week and the workmanship is excellent. I never go anywhere else!

Sewing on a button is about as self-​sufficient as it gets when it comes to repairing and mending my clothes. Luckily for me (and let’s face it, you too if you’re reading this) there are people known as tailors that are more than happy to do it for me. So when I recently needed a pair of pants hemmed, I went to Avondale Expert Alterations on the recommendation of a friend. Service was fast, the price was great and I am now enjoying my just-​the-​right-​length pants!
