Worst Walmart in CT by far. The aisles are always a disheveled chaotic mess. Especially the seasonal and clearance shelves. On one occasion an item from clearance rang up wrong. After requesting a manager to check our price we were informed by the manager it was ringing up correct price. After a brief«discussion» I walked back to the clearance aisle and retrieved the upc sticker from the shelf and brought it to the register. The manager was summoned again. She explained to me that the black photo albums were on sale but not the red ones. After another«discussion» I again walked to the clearance aisle and found the upc sticker for the red photo album. When I returned to the register the manager was there waiting for me. After scanning the sticker it was revealed that both red and black were on sale for the same price. No apologies, and no admittance of being wrong. I had to personally walk to the aisle twice just to do a store associates job correctly. All the while people in line are witnessing my frustration and embarrassment trying to communicate with a lady who refuses to be incorrect. As I’m finally being rung out at the correct price I asked if I should be receiving this item for free since it was rang up wrong not once but twice. I was informed it was not a commodity and she would be doing nothing to resolve her mistakes. Fast forward about 6 months and I stopped in with my family to grab some painting supplies and a windshield wiper for my wife’s car. As we neared the auto section of the store we heard a loud high pitched machine start up and begin to work. As we got closer we saw that a construction company was redoing a section of concrete flooring. Once the machine started sanding or scraping the concrete floor the noise intensified to a level that was so loud I couldn’t hear my wife and daughter tell me they were going back to the front of the store. After standing there for 2min trying to figure out which wiper I needed I couldn’t take it the noise anymore myself. I turned to gather my family but they were already gone. After locating them in the outer lobby we left without purchasing anything. I can’t understand any reason a job that requires the use of those machines would be done during store hours. It did not just make our visit unenjoyable it was actually a painful experience to be in that building at that time. This type of construction and equipment is unjustifiable during business hours. Poor management day in and day out at this location. My money will be going to other local businesses in the area(Target, Kohls, Dicks, etc). With so much competition in the area corporate management should look into what needs to be done to retain local residents business.

If they don’t have it, you don’t need it! Prices are great. Place got even better this week now that they have self checkout! Very cool!

I don’t go there unless it’s my last option and to be fair it doesn’t matter which of their locations you visit as they all lack the minimum of the customer service any business should offer to a customer. They have lower prices than some other retailers and I think that’s what they rely on specially in the economy we have right now. We know that they can do much better than that but they obviously choose not to, I wonder why !!!

Good deals, as you’ll almost always find at any Walmart. The store is fairly clean and fully stocked with the typical necessities. They have a Subway inside. Not a large food section. No freezer section either. And no beer.

I have had nothing but horrible experiences lately at the walmart in Avon, CT. The last time,(last week) every register had a long line. I had one item and was waiting in express when the woman at the customer service register said she would take the next person. We,(myself, husband and 4 year old son) went over as well and got in line there. She watched this and didn’t say anything until she was done ringing the customer up, at which point she told us she couldn’t ring us up because she was taking the next person from the line we were originally in. By this point 2 more people had gotten into that line, so now we were in an even longer line. I feel as if she could’ve said something long before that. My son, who is autistic, was getting upset and uncomfortable, as the store was very hot and we were all sweating. We spoke to a manager about this and all she said was, «I’m sorry.» That wasn’t helpful. The time before that, twice we got in line and as soon as we got up to the register the cashier informed us she was closing or going on break and then shut off her light and walked away. Again, management didn’t care. I will never go to this store again. I have never been treated so rudely in my life and I am very disappointed. I went to this walmart often in the past, the issues have cropped up over the past few months.

I have encountered some very friendly and helpful staff at the Avon CT WalMart and my frustration is not with them. I live nearby and this store is handy for me to purchase fabric for my sewing projects. The problem is that they don’t staff the fabric department on a regular basis so I always have to walk around the store to find a clerk to cut the fabric. I have had to walk back and forth to the customer service desk 2 or 3 times in one visit because no employee answered the page for customer service in the fabric department. It’s worse after 4 pm. I have spoken to management on numerous occasions about this and they repeatedly tell me it’s a staffing problem. This has been getting progressively worse over the last several months. It does not get better. I’d go elsewhere for fabric but the nearest fabric store is 45 minutes away. I’m not the only frustrated customer. The customer service desk staff tell me they get lots of similar complaints but nothing gets done about it.

I don’t particularly care for this Wal-Mart. It’s not a full sized version I don’t believe. All the departments are small and have little in selection. The employees aren’t the most pleasant bunch. I only go to this one in a pinch because it’s close to my house. I wish it were bigger like other Wal-Marts or that Avon had a Target.

Definitely the better Walmart as compared with the Hartford store. Went last night to pick up something I ordered on . Associate named Adam was very helpful and even assisted me with a return where he helped me pull up a receipt that I did not bring from a computer. Amazing level of service. Adam also picked the correct blades for my saw, and seemed to be familiar with products.

What can you say about wal-mart? Politics aside, it does the job when your looking for cheap buys for the bathroom and $ 5 movies. It always seems as though there is only one register open at a time with the check out lines a mile long. All in all, clean and bright. I’ve been in far worse wal-marts.

When the Avon Walmart opened up in January 2001, the apocalyptic naysayers decried everything about it. They would create a traffic nightmare on Route 202, they would squash out dozens of small businesses, etc. They wanted to sell firearms. So here we are a dozen years later and Walmart has seamlessly become a part of the local landscape. Have I bought clothes here? Yes. Have I bought groceries here? Yes Have I bought toys here? Yes. Have I bought camping stuff here? Yes Have I bought electronics and cameras here? Yes Have I bought small appliances here? Yes Have I bought health and beauty aid things here? Yes, Have I bought lawn and garden stuff here? Yes. Have I bought books or magazines here? Yes Have I bought toilet parts here? Yes Have I bought paint and hardware and tools here? Yes Have I ever been disappointed here? No. They have just about anything you need for any room of the house. They are OK by me

Only Walmart that is tolerable to go into. Generally hate going in these places because of the weird customers and horrible staff the franchise employs. 3 stars for being clean and well staffed location of a normally garbage franchise.

This is probably the only Walmart that doesn’t make me want to stab myself in the eye. It’s nice and clean compared to most, and the customers aren’t cherrypicked from the pages of «People of Walmart».

Avon Walmart is so clean and everything is super easy to find. Great prices and I never have a problem there. Do most of my toiletry and triscuit shopping here. Plus, it’s right next door to a 5 Guys and Russell Speeders. Get your car washed and shop at Walmart!
