Turtle Tubing

My friends and I have done turtle tubing the past two years and have had an absolute blast every time! The tubes are legit – they have a solid bottom so if you don’t want to get wet, you won’t. The turtle bus is also fun and part of the experience that should not be missed! Shane is incredibly accommodating! His customer service is top notch and he really goes out of his way to ensure a fun time for the tubers. I would highly recommend this activity! Obviously, the weather can’t be controlled, but even in the wind and rain, this experience was memorable! My friends and I have our annual trip booked for July and are already pumped! Do yourself a favor and book this experience – you will not be disappointed!

People, stop the madness. You are making it out to be WAY worse than it actually is… take a BIG chill pill! You have to remember, this place has been in existence for 7+ years and is growing, you have a guy with a vision, and he is trying to make it happen!
Starting off, The overall experience was pretty solid. If you go into the experience expecting something big and fancy, stay at home. This adventure is meant to be relax, fun, and enjoyable experience. Consider it to be an all day affair, fun for all ages. Our group had seven people and the first order of business, Shane made us feel extremely comfortable. He greeted us, told us the rules and made sure we didn’t need anything special. The tubes were sturdy and comfortable, we had no issues with them. Our tubing ride was supposed to be approx 2 – 3 hours depending on the current. It ended up being 4.5 (yes, we got more for our money) LOL. The waters were super calm, which is what caused the ride to take longer than it did. When we were almost to the exit point, Shane and his crew were there waiting on us and helped getting the tubes out of the water. The ride back to the lot was safe, quick, and worry free.
Overall, it was a fun experience. Too bad it’s 2.5 hours from where I live in Denver, cause I would definitely do it again this summer. I am sure we will try to make it back next summer and bring the rest of the crew.

Do not risk your life with this company! I wish I knew about this site before now so that I could have warned people earlier! Seriously, there are hundreds of safe and affordable choices for rafting throughout Colorado. The owner of Turtle Tubing is very irresponsible and reckless. Here is how… PLEASE READ
Even when asked about significant safety issues that were present, he ignored them and put 20 adults, 1 senior adult with a heart problem and a 5 year old child, into the Colorado River without life jackets or a guide in the rear when a major electrical storm with high winds was rapidly approaching. The single guide went in first while the 20 of us tried to follow. Unfortunately the winds, storm and lightening came up so quickly and strong that we were actually pushed backwards against the current unable to drift or paddle down the river as we should have. The winds actually caused waves and whitecaps in the river and it quickly became clear that we were all alone and fighting for our lives with the only guide completely out of sight and who never came back for us. As we all struggled to paddle to a safe exit area of the river, to which there were none, our group quickly realized that we had faulty equipment as 7 of our paddles broke and we were left with one option… jump raft and try to swim to our safety and exit along the raging banks of the Colorado while lightening crashed around us. This is no lie… this was the most terrifying experience. After an hour of all 20 of us fighting the mighty Colorado and worsening storm, we all managed to make it out of the river alive but completely exhausted and alone. Several of us fortunately had cell phones with us and we called the owner repeatedly but only received an answering machine. We ended up having to walk over a mile to our drop off and entrance spot in hopes that someone would come rescue us as we were transported from Vail via the infamous green party bus… Oh, and rather than ditch the faulty equipment, we were beyond responsible and each of us dragged our large heavy rafts and broken oars the mile +. After waiting for over 2 hours in the cold and windy rain, finally, the bus driver returned to pick us up after we did not emerge at the exit point and the owner notified him of our voicemail. We were irate that we were essentially left to die and that the owner willingly and knowingly put us in harms way with faulty equipment and without life vests despite being asked and challenged before the trip began. We asked for our money back and although the driver, who was innocent in this whole thing, was deeply apologetic but said there was nothing he could do. He said that the owner gave him strict orders not to refund any of the money. When we arrived to the exit point to pick up the guide and one other person who made it down the entire trip, we saw the owner of Turtle. He tried to hide from us but I followed him and demanded our money back while berating him for putting all of us in harms way for $ 2000. He was arrogant and dismissive. He said that his guide made it down and therefore so should we have. When I asked why there was only 1 guide at the front and not one at the rear, especially since we had such a large group among other reasons, he blew me off and turned to the driver and said keep $ 20 from each person to cover bus transportation to and from Vail and refund the rest. He then glared at me and said, «You were never in harms way and I shouldn’t be giving you anything back» as he turned and walked away.
DO NOT PATRONIZE GREEN TURTLE BUS AND TURTLE TUBING!!! You are risking your life in more ways than one. The owner has zero regard for human life or safety and money is the only motivating factor with this company. Colorado is filled with thousands of legitimate and safe outdoor activities operators, they are not hard to find. Do yourself a favor and use one of them… Your decision could be the difference between life and death. This is not about the money… this is completely about safety… Please do not mistake this post as a disgruntled customer who didn’t get all their money back. I would have written this same review even if we had received a full refund and been given a free raincheck.

We had a party of 15 that they left high and dry at the end of the tubing trip! We showed up, the bus was there and they told us they would only take two of our drivers so we could shuttle ourselves! We paid for the shuttle and the use of the tubes, we only got to use the tubes. They have guys on jet-​skis riding up and down the river making sure everyone is ok and never once did they say anything to us to hurry up or we are going to miss out shuttle. They did pick someone up in our group for a joy ride though. Ill go with another company next time.

Back again for our summer 2014 Turtle Tube trip. The river is higher and faster moving this year so we were able to float through the Glenwood canyon. What an awesome day on the Colorado River. Thank you to Shane and his staff for another incredible tubing adventure!

Turtle Tubing left 27 of my friends and I waiting at a campground at 9am because of a dirt road. The road was fine, my hatchback was able to go over 50mph. All of this was gone over in detail months in advance by me and our campground was about ten minutes from their headquarters. While we were up there a ranger told us Turtle Tubing was booked for his wedding and they never showed at all. Do not use their service.

Spare yourself the trouble and go with another outfit — Poor communications, lack of information on website. They never answer the phone, and are late to respond to requests. Considering it’s a commercial business they could be much more comprehensive!!!
So lame man…

LOVED our lazy Sunday spent Turtle Tubing! Shane was especially helpful scheduling our trip of six people. When we were running late the morning of the trip, but he was very flexible and stayed true to his «go with the flow» mantra. We hopped in the river with a cooler full of a taste of the rockies and proceeded to float down the river for 3+ hours. What a fun, relaxing way to spend the afternoon while taking in the gorgeous scenery. I plan to make this a repeat trip for next summer!

Purchased over $ 100 of Groupon’s for this place. They were always will to take my reservations until they found out I had a Groupon, then they told me they were booked. I’ve tried calling now for 2 summers.
I’m left with coupons that I can’t use now. Needless to say I will never use this company. Not a good experience at all and not a good way to introduce yourself to new customers. Sounds like there are plenty of other folks were caught in the same predicament.

I purchased a coupon for a two person tube trip that expires 2 months from the time I contacted Turtle Tubing. Shane, one of the owners, was quite friendly when I initially inquired about a start time for the trip. When I mentioned that I would be using the coupon, I was told that there was no open space for the rest of the summer. I find it hard to believe that the river is «full» until next summer. To be noted, I wasn’t even trying to book on a weekend. This was for a Monday, our first Monday as newlyweds after our mountain wedding. I asked how I could get reimbursed and the response was «Hi! We are not responsible for reimbursement». I would not be writing this review had Shane been pleasant and offered any kind of explanation but he was dismissive and tried to take payment without offering a service. Fortunately, the coupon company was gracious and quickly offered a refund after I showed them the email communications. The mountains have so many more activities to offer with people who have common Colorado courtesy. Go elsewhere.
