I can only speak to the sushi as I never have the Hibachi or items from the regular menu. It has good, solid sushi rolls that have gotten better since opening. My favorite is the Playboy roll.

One of the worst dining experiences possible. They truly do not deserve to be in business. Very long wait times for everything and the older woman who seemed to be in charge was incredibly rude and disrespectful. They treat you like you are inconveniencing them with your presence.

I think 3 stars suits this place. There is a fish pond as you enter which is entertaining for the kids. There is a small bridge that leads to the dining area. We were able to get immediate seating on a Saturday night at almost 7pm which made me worry a little bit. The meal was good overall. My Wife and I order Combos and shared with our daughters(5 and 3). The cook was nice and put food on their plate as he cooked rather than us having to transfer it. My wife got chicken and steak and I got Chicken and Shrimp. The steak and shrimp were excellent, but he overcooked the chicken and some of it was quit rubbery. The fried rice was very good and the show portion with fire and what not was good. We also got a Play Boy Roll on fire. It was kind of cool how it cooked at the table with fire while wrapped in foil. It had good flavor as well. One problem I had was I ordered a beer. I finished it before our appetizer came out and was never asked if I wanted another beer. Such a long time went by before the drink waitress even came back that I didn’t even ask for one because I was kind of put out. Normally places want to sell drinks but I guess it was too much trouble for this waitress.

Some of the Best Sushi that I have ever had. Love the Spicy tuna as well as the Hibachi style dining. As far as sushi goes(for the midwest and avon, IN) its the best.

I hate to give this place a bad review, but it was not good. First, it is frustrating to go with my vegan pal and receive a different answer every single time about whether their miso is vegan. C’mon, it either has fish broth or it doesn’t. It seems like a straightforward inquiry. Second, the service was slow as molasses and not nearly as sweet. Finally, the sushi rice was unseasoned and so bland! There are a few pros that might draw you in: — beautiful décor with koi pond in the lobby — gorgeously plated sushi — fresh sushi — tasty(and possibly fish-free) miso soup It’s not the worst place I have been, but it would take a lot to draw me back.

I have eaten here a few times. Always during lunch and I have only eaten the sushi. It was always delicious and seemed to be fresh. The owner is very nice. My only suggestion is that the waitress could have stopped by to see if I needed a refill but its no big deal she was a sweetheart.

This was the worst experience we have ever had at a hibachi grill restaurant. Terrible from start to finish. When I provided feedback to the manager, she nodded and walked away. My mother and I didn’t even eat our meals. Please, if you are going to spend that much on a meal, go somewhere you can actually eat and enjoy yourself without worrying about bad taste or food safety risks. Also, the bathrooms were disgusting. It’s no wonder that the place wasn’t busy.

Sub par food and the restaurant was rather dirty. Waitress was great-the only plus about the visit. It is obvious management doesn’t have it together.

We probably eat here twice a month rotating between the hibachi grill one time and sushi the next. While it’s not fabulous, out of this world food, it is consistently good food and the service is awesome. We always feel like valued patrons when we eat at Hirosaki.

We got to walk right in and be seated. However, it all went downhill from there. Our waitress didn’t really fill our drinks. Then our hibachi chef was meh. He didn’t really seem to know what he was doing and over cooked all of our food. The chicken was dry, the steak we asked for medium rare was well over well done and the veggies were slightly burned. My friend said his scallops were horrible and rubbery. Maybe the chef was new? But even then, someone should have been there helping him out. I know not all hibachi chefs do tricks but the tables around us got some and our guy didn’t do any. The portions were huge and we got a lot of food but it all ended up being wasted. Overall, I feel like I spent a lot of money on food that wasn’t very good and I will not EVER be returning.

Took 10minutes to be seated, the waitress was unbelievably rude, website menu didn’t match the store menu, wouldn’t be surprised to see them out of business soon.

Co-workers took me out for a fun, birthday lunch. However, there was a bit a of a wait. Service was sub-par and the chef didn’t do anything cool except for the onion volcano.

Long wait to be seated with reservations, lack luster grill experience, and the wait staff was attentive, but slow. Menu items were fresh, cooked well, and the prices were not bad overall, but there were a series of unexpected up charges for certain menu items normally included at such a place. However, the neat, open décor, unique koi pond bridge in the lobby, and pleasing atmosphere were soon overwhelmed by the average overall dining event. We were placed in a private room for our table of 12, but it was cold even table side. I was more entertained by my company than the grill ninja’s antics. From my history, you can see that I try to find something memorable, unique, or positive to pass along with my reviews, but sadly I would not encourage others to sink your chopsticks here for a special occasion. Maintenance meals, a fresh and light lunch, or a simple date night are the limits here. The place has good bones for potential and maybe a hospitality training course would garner better favor from me in the future.

For the past 2 years this has been our favorite Japanese resturant. Tonight we went with family for dinner and the entire experience was horrible. We waited 30 minutes to be sat and then another 30 before they started cooking because they had one cook and one waitress. All of our meat was undercooked including a piece of chicken that was completely pink in the middle. The biggest reason I will never return though is a ROACH crawled across the table in front of me. I’m very sad to see one of my favorite places go down hill so fast.

Their food tastes good, but might be missing a few ingredients to kick that japanese taste in. I usually start of with a roll, and get their grill entrees. I love to see the cook preparing my food amd grill it They use garlic, so be careful if you cannot stand the garlic, or causes you problems in the stomach.

I give this place a five star because we were seated quickly for hibachi on a Saturday night, prices were perfect, we ordered a spicey California roll and it was very fresh. For my entre I ordered steak and with that I got soup, salad, steak, fried rice, veggies. It was a ton of food. I took home enough for another meal. Our waitress was super sweet. The chef was hilarious and made dinner an entertaining experience. We will definitely come back!

The food is not good and I would not recommend. When you first walk in the atmosphere is relaxing and there is a nice little pond with coy fish in it. I decided to sit in a booth instead of at the sushi bar or hibachi tables. Soon after being seated I noticed that some paint was chipping off of the walls next to me. There was also a dirty vase on the table with a dusty and broken plastic flower in it for decoration. For my beverage I ordered the hot tea. It was your average tasting Oolong. I ordered the steak entrée, some edamame, and a cherry blossom sushi roll for my meal. The Edamame was very good. Not too much salt, just the right amount. Next was the salad which had a good ginger dressing but was on top of what seemed like an iceberg lettuce and carrot mix that you would find in a bag at the grocery store. After that, was the onion soup. I always look forward to this the most because it is a comfort food of mine. Sadly it tasted like fried chicken juice and not really like onion at all. The onions that were in it were oddly mushy. I was not impressed. When the entrée arrived I was hopeful that it would be good because it looked fresh. The portion was a bit too big but that seems to be the case at most hibachi restaurants. My steak was good, maybe a bit under seasoned but I would rather it be that than the alternative. Unfortunately the rice was overcooked and way too mushy. The cherry blossom roll was supposed to have crab in it and tuna on top but it seemed to have ground up tuna in it instead of crab. The sushi rice was also overcooked and the tuna tasted old and I didn’t eat the rest for fear of getting sick. All in all it was not a good experience and I will not be returning.

This is your standard fare hibachi restaurant. It’s great for entertaining younger kids but leaves a lot to be desired for the adults in the crowd. The hibachi menu is identical to the ones found in similar looking restaurants all across America. The drink menu could be substantially better. The beer options are very limited and the cocktails all are some variation on sake. Despite the fact that there are few places in central Indiana to be served draught Japanese beers or Japanese whiskey, Hirosaki does not capitalize on that. We arrived before our group and were immediately told that we couldn’t be seated until all members had arrived. That was understandable but we had to be the ones to ask if we could sit at the bar and have a drink until then. I was given the impression that they may not have offered because the bar staff was being used to fold napkins despite it being 5pm on a Saturday night. If you can’t make it to the other parts of town, Hirosaki is serviceable for the west suburbs but it would be worth 20 minutes in the car to go elsewhere for a better experience.

It seems like every other week a new Japanese steakhouse(complete with teppanyaki grills) opens. I personally don’t see the attraction of the pomp and circumstance so I typically sit at a normal table and order off the regular menu. Hirosaki is pretty generic in that respect. The miso soup was meh. If you blindfolded me and didn’t tell me that the salmon was seasoned with curry there would be no way for me to tell. Service wasn’t too bad, however I was there for lunch on a weekday so they weren’t busy at all.

After a few years of coming here now, we’ve seen the service slip and the price increase. The food is still really good, don’t get me wrong. The service is spotty, especially if they are very busy. Recently, we purposely ordered sushi rolls well before our entrees, so we could enjoy them. We were pressed to order and ended up being rushed through soup and salad to have everything show up on the table at once. Not a huge issue, but not what we were looking for. The last couple of times we’ve been here it seems that the overall check has been about $ 30 higher than it had been previously.
