Established in 2002.

Psychologist and Spanish teacher from Colombia. I worked in my country as Therapist, but always worked as a teacher also. Both of these specialties combined, brought me to this position today. My background helped me to understand that each individual learns at a different pace, and that the motivation for each one is also different. So the method of teaching needs to be a flexible and tailored to each student.

If you want to speak spanish within a few months and you are motivated– Maria’s language lesson is what you need :). I had an amazing experience with maria’s spanish lessons and I’d like to share it here. I came to miami from switzerland and i couldnt speak any spanish. Due to the fact, that almost everyone is speaking spanish in miami, I wanted to learn spanish as quick and as efficient as possible within 5 months. I am overwhelmed with the spanish skills, that I have gained in only 4 months. Maria is a really professional and good teacher. She has her own technique to teach spanish. Not only can she explain in an understandable way, she also keeps you really motivated. Additonally, It’s a really nice and relaxed atmosphere at her house. In the end it also depends on you and your effort but I have to say: muchas gracias maria por la experiencia contigo. :-)

I worked with Maria Gaviria for one month. I had had many classes and bits of tutoring spread out over many years with long bouts of nonpractice and nonstudy leaving me with great gaps in my vocabulary and grammar. We met twice a week to work on language, grammar, and conversation. Maria helped me gain confidence and gave me strategies for developing an ear outside of class. She encouraged my speaking and guided conversation and questions to force me to go beyond simple present tense.
I was very pleased with my classes and really enjoyed our discussions. Maria is an excellent teacher: knowledgeable and personable. I highly recommend her for anyone wishing to learn Spanish — beginner to advanced– she is the tutor to have.

I have been studing with Maria for few months now and already able to talk quite well and understand almost everything is being said around me!
I have a little baby so my time to practice at home is limited, but I do know that if I would put some more time myself after classes I would have been almost fluent by now!
The classes are enjoyable, combining conversation and learning from the text book, Maria is pleasant and kind and the lesson is always going by so fast. Location and parking are convenient and valet is quick.

My sister & I took private Spanish lessons with Maria for 5 weeks twice a week and it seems like we barely just scratched the surface of this language. The time flew by so fast and in such a short time I know that I definitely learned much more than I ever did before. I took a basic Spanish class a while back in HS but only learned how to say a few words.
These private lessons are offered out of Maria’s home office and truly afforded me the personal attention I needed to learn much more than I ever have previously. Nonetheless, we still have so much more to learn and a long road ahead of us to become fully fluent. Maria is a very encouraging, smart, kind and patient teacher. She helped us with our pronunciation and introduced us to conjugating several verbs and taught us many new nouns and adjectives. At the end of five weeks we were able to structure a few basic sentences.
All-​in-​all, I was very pleased with the private lessons and wish I could afford to keep going until I become an expert. If you are able to take private lessons with Maria, you will indeed learn a lot. She is a terrific teacher and I would recommend her.

If you want to learn Spanish, I mean really learn it well, then this is the place to go. No matter what level you’re at, Maria from Conexion Languages can help you out. I already spoke Spanish before coming here. However, I had holes in my grammar, lacked some vocabulary, and needed work on my verb tenses. I also needed help with my writing, annunciation, and overall confidence in the language. She discovered this about me rather quickly and after just a few months with her, I can communicate better with my Costa Rican wife, my Colombian family, and all the Spanish speaking guests I encounter at work (I work in hospitality). I got all this at this at a super affordable price!

I have honestly been trying to learn Spanish for close to 5 years now. Throughout this time, I have taken several Spanish classes in the Miami area, and have always had a hard time staying interested and motivated. I found the class room, group class environment to never really fit my needs. All of the students were always on different learning levels and the classes always seemed to be taught in general terms to fit the class.
After taking a short break, I decided to get serious again about learning Spanish, and this time would look to find a private lesson structure with classes tailored around my learning level. Upon my new search, I found Maria Gaviria of Conexion Academy, who just happened to be located within 10 minutes of me in Aventura. I’ve now been taking classes from Maria for 5 months, and absolutely love them! The classes are a great combination of conversations revolving around current world affairs, and also working on reading and writing through our text book. The cost is very affordable, and best of all, Maria is extremely flexible with my busy schedule. I really appreciate Maria’s passion for teaching Spanish. I would highly recommend you taking Spanish classes from Maria.

I have studied with Maria for about 2 years now and my level of conversational and written Spanish has improved immensely. I needed help with proper Spanish for business and professional dealings in my field, as well as help with turns of phrase and contemporary conversation for everyday speaking. I have taken previous spanish classes through MDC for over a year and could not hold a simple conversion. When I found Conexion Languages and Maria after 6 months I had the confidence to speak and through time working one on one have been able to have conversations in spanish with ease and comfort. She gives you the tools necessary to believe within yourself to grow in the language. I never would have believed that I could be fluent in Spanish and now I am. I am amazed when I think about it.

I highly recommend Maria Gaviria at Conexion Academy of Languages for anyone interested in looking to improve their Spanish or learn Spanish for the first time. I learned Spanish as a second language in Spain and speak fluently; however I was looking for a teacher that would help me improve my grammar and my accent. I was skeptical of taking classes since I was so advanced and I have a very particular learning style. I was looking for private lessons that did not cost a fortune and a teacher who would be flexible in working with me at a brisk pace. Maria is very professional and very detail oriented which is extremely important when you are perfecting a second language. I have noticed that in the time I have been taking classes with Maria that my Spanish is so much cleaner and I feel much more comfortable speaking in a professional setting.
