Awesome restaurant! Definitely one of top Chinese restaurants in New Jersey! The dim sum is always fresh and the majority of the dishes served was always cooked to perfection!

How can you tell that you’ve arrived at a good dimsum restaurant? First, you know the dimsum game is real when you see the implementation of pushcarts. Second, the crowds start coming in fast right after the doors opens. And third, the waiting game. But the best things come to those who wait so I ain’t complainin’.

The best Dim Sum around my area. The dinner isn’t that great, but the dim sum is almost always on point. This is our go to place.

We only went a few times for Dim Sum so I can’t speak for all the other food they offer. Nothing was bad per se but also nothing memorable. With Dim Sum there are just certain places that do certain things you can’t get anywhere else. Me, I could literally eat it every day and I’ve been to just about every place you can imagine in Manhattan and queens. Part of the issue I have with a place like Royal is you always feel rushed. Dim sum should be savored and enjoyed. They are trying to turn the tables which I understand but doesn’t make you comfortable either. Again there nothing working wit the food but noting I’m running back to get and thinking how I can’t wait for the next time.

I was on my way to another restaurant sitting in traffic when I saw a Chinese seafood restaurant and started to crave HK-style steamed fish. I saw they had dim sum– a huge plus! Ordered a steamed flounder, and it is fresh and cooked perfectly. At $ 25, I must say it is a great value compared to American/Italian seafood restaurants. My dinner even came with a surprise green bean dessert– yum. Why minus one star? I ordered shrimp dumping as an app for dinner and maybe that’s my mistake. It was probably previously frozen since all four of the dumpling stuck together. Good flavor though. This is where families and communities gather. Such a warm feeling. The owner went around every table, asking about how the diners’ children are doing at school, talks about the housing market, whether a law degree is worth it… Will be back.

If The Avengers were based in NJ and/or were real, I think they’d come here after every battle with the sinister forces of evil. There’s something for everyone: BYOB for Tony Stark and splitting the bill = no one pays more than $ 20 which = Spiderman is totally down. They’ve got something for everyone… I would try everything and anything at least once… not just here, but in life. Mind blown, right? You learn a lot too, so it’s also an educational and cultural experience. We were there for about 3 hours last time and when the check came it was like, cheap. I brought wine and soju and they have little cups for tea that you can use for shots. Go, be free.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I’m Asian and I’ve eaten at a lot of Chinese places in Chinatown even, but this place takes the cake with rudeness. The employees are rude and actually talk back to you when you ask why you haven’t gotten your drink in 30 – 40 minutes. Our order was completely wrong and the employees are basically unapologetic. Awful service and that’s saying a lot from someone who has dealt with Chinatown establishments. They will get zero tip from me for zero service.

I have been coming to this restaurant for as long as I can remember –my family continues to come here for any birthdays or special occasions because it’s probably the most authentic Cantonese around the area. They have good dimsum here in the afternoons on the weekdays and because the owner personally knows my family, we always get expedient service. I think most of the waiters here mainly speak Chinese so if you don’t understand the menu completely, it might be confusing to get past the language barrier. Maybe because I eat here so often, I am somewhat impartial to the food now but I suppose the fried rices and the stir fry noodles are decent albeit a bit on the greasier side. I like the way they cook the lobster Cantonese-style and I usually always order the shumai if I am coming here for lunch. If you are staying for dinner, you usually get a complementary desert of red or green bean soup which might be an acquired taste. Over the years, this place has gone under many different owners and managers but the physical restaurant itself has been here a really long time which is a testament to its popularity.

This place has solid dim sum. My family is picky when it comes to dim sum so we make the 30 minute trek here to get some delicious food. It’s very crowded on Sundays(especially from 11AM — 2PM) and there is a good chance you will have to wait. Come here on Saturday and you won’t have to wait as long! Royal Seafood also has some«American» dishes in their dim sum rotation, which is kinda weird. They had fried chicken last time I checked. I didn’t grab it but I guess they wanted to appeal to their non-Chinese clientele or get dim sum newcomers acquainted with the cuisine. Until better dim sum places open up in the area, Royal Seafood will be our go-to place!

Still the best Dimsum in NJ! All the specials come out early: Clams in Black Bean sauce, Crabs Cantonese, Roast Duck, Soft Shell Crabs in addition to the standards such as Shumai, Pork Ribs, Congee, Pork Bun. Come early, it gets busy for Sunday Brunch

Have been here for dinner with friends for Chinese New Year weekend for the last couple of years. The friend who arranges it is Chinese American herself so speaks the language & knows the owners. Always orders everything, so I would have no clue what to order if I wet on my own LOL. Food is great and comes out fast. Nice portion sizes & reasonable prices. Some of the fish & pork dishes have been especially delicious! BYOB.

Came here on a whim for dinner and it was great. Everything is served family style. Get the Peking duck… it’s amazing. They serve it to you with these little pancake pockets. Yum! Service could be faster but can’t complain too much. We didn’t have to wait for a table on a Saturday night so that was great too. My family and I also want to try their dim sum one weekend.

Wide range of dim sum and speedy service make me a happy camper. They also regularly walk around«special» dishes on trays such as clams with oyster sauce, wok stir-fried noodles, fried calamari, etc. Haven’t tried a bad dish here yet. My absolute favorite is tofu fa(sweet tofu dessert) which the lady served meticulously by straining out the extra water and carefully layering the tofu fa in a bowl. I have never seen such dedication to dim sum craft in NJ. You go tofu fa lady! By the way, it’s also available as a savory dish, but I wouldn’t recommend it based on sheer personal preference. Their entrees are also available during dim sum hours. We ordered the crispy noodles with seafood and it was delicious — the edges of the noodles served sufficiently crispy, not limpy, as other restaurants have done in the past. True to Chinese/Canto style, the service is straightforward and can come off a bit brusque, but efficient. The manager is very involved in making sure the place runs smoothly, and I even heard him berating staff for milling around in the back when they were supposed to be walking through the dining area to check for tea refills, clearing tables, etc. Berating them in a public may be a turn-off for some, but it brought a nostalgic smile to my lips as it reminded me of many no-nonsense establishments back in Hong Kong. A dim sum meal + noodle entrée for five came to around $ 95, including tax + tip. Place gets pretty busy within an hour after it opens on weekends. Plan accordingly.

I can only speak for the Dimsum here, as we come every Sunday on this exclusive weekly tradition. This place is always packed, and for good reason! The Dimsum carts are constantly rotating, with the food being the freshest it can be straight out of the kitchen. The atmosphere is lively as it is exciting, the room is in constant chatter and there I’d never a dull moment. As a person who does not understand the native tongue spoken here, I always have a very easy time communicating with the servers as to what dish I want from the cart! All in all, a packed house, with fresh out the kitchen dishes, and a manager that is more than accommodating, makes for this 5 star review!

I was in Jersey and in the mood for some Dim Sum, looked up on Unilocal and found this place so decided to give it a chance. I got here around 1pm on a Saturday and there were people but not packed. We were seated and I love how they start coming around with trays full of different things. As always I eat with my eyes so I got trigger happy and got way too many items from the first carts which was a mistake because I got full fast and missed on some great items that came out afterwards. Maybe next time I will remember and actually wait. Overall the food was great and the service very fast.

We came here in a Sunday around 12 and had no issues getting a seat. Service was pretty fast, but the food was only OK. The har gow had like 4 shrimps in it, which was a little too overwhelming for me and took away from enjoying it. The spare ribs was pretty good, but overall it was pricy for dim sum and the food wasn’t satisfying. We probably would just rather go to flushing where the food is better and cheaper.

By far, this is one of the favorite places for Dim Sum/Cantonese places in central Jersey. Fair warning, if you are interested in going for Dim Sum be there«EARLY,» and I believe they only do Dim Sum on the weekends. Oh and bring someone who speak basic conversation Chinese, it might help you from being coaxed to try everything on the cart(every dish has a different price). From that being said, «Let’s Begin.» I have been in this restaurant numerous time for Dim Sum with my family and it doesn’t disappoint. Despite being having to wait in line from the crowds of customer, once seated, the food is up for grabs. The Dim Sum that I like are the pork ribs, beef ribs, the congee, and the tofu dessert, sorry for being to general, I usually said in Chinese. But there is a diverse varieties to choose from, so don’t be afraid to try something out. However, if you have food restrictions, I highly recommend to bring a friend who is used to this type of dining, because a lot of the dishes are a combination of ingredients.

So this is my 2nd time eating at a Royal Seafood Restaurant in as many weeks. However they are not affiliated — I asked :). The restaurant is spacious and more comfortable than their Chinatown cousins. Unfortunately it was equally as dirty(carpets) and heavy on the MSG. We had the after taste in our mouths hours after our meal. The food is good — rice noodle crepes(shrimp, beef and fried crueller varieties), giant shrimp dumplings, Phoenix claws or more boringly aka chicken feet. They had an original treat which I had never seen before — Durian crème pastry which was quite tasty. Shrimp, beef, crueller rice noodle crepes Final verdict is it wasn’t anything special and the excessive MSG was it’s downfall.
