Catalina Snorkeling Adventures

After calling around to multiple snorkel companies in Avalon, we decided to book a tour with Catalina Snorkel Adventures. When I called around they were by far the most caring and kind company I spoke with and even though they didn’t offer a groupon like some of the others, I chose them because of my experience over the phone with them versus the others I spoke with, and they didn’t disappoint! We asked the most basic questions that I’m sure they get asked all the time, but they were so sweet about it and answered them thoroughly. Our guide was Robert and he was great! He’s been a scuba/​snorkel instructor for over 30 years and he knew his stuff. He was very patient and took us through the water explaining the different fish that we saw. Even though he does this everyday, he was still so excited every time we would see a new fish. It was a great experience and I will definitely do it again next time we are on the island. Thank you for the great experience. It was the highlight of our trip!

We just got off the Carnival Cruise and walked along trying to find a snorkeling place. We kept walking till I spotted this friendly smiling ‘young’ man (Robert — he’s 69 btw). I walked up to him and told him we were looking to snorkel so what options are there.
Robert was very friendly and helpful. After assuring us that even non-​swimmers can do this. We told him we have 10 in the group. Robert was willing to do a private group session for us and it turned out perfect. Next thing you know we were all getting suited up. Our group ranged from age 8 — 46. All had a great time and this was definitely highlight of our Catalina stop.
I was hoping to see one or two fishes but there for hundreds of them even as we were getting our fins on they were swimming up to us. Best part was when Robert got us all together and fed the fish. It was unreal how many were just swimming around us.
Thanks again for a wonderful time Robert… you guys are amazing and helped us make memories for the kids! They talked about the snorkeling experience the entire time we got back on the ship.

This place was just perfect. Everyone was so polite and so helpful with everything. I have never been snorkeling and they made this experience one I will not forget. I felt a genuine concern for us to have a great time. We had a blast!!! The shop was well organized and the prices were great too! They even gave us some good info about the eateries in the island :]
Ann, Robert, and Wade were so informative and understanding to our previous issue with the «dive Moore» guy Ron. Made us feel 10 times better after that nonsense.

A great family fun visit and Such a great place to snorkel so different than any other snorkeling I have done in the Bahamas, Mexico, or anywhere on vacation! The people are so nice and just really neat people that are extremely knowledgable about snorkeling and the sea life! Also you get an extra hour of just free swimming as well! I’ll be back next time I come to catalina!

after having our reservation cancelled from the snorkeling shop down the road, my wife and I stopped by Catalina Snorkeling Adventures to see if we could squeeze in before they closed shop around 5pm.
Ann and Rob were very gracious and took us out for a tour. Once we were in the water, it got even better. They provided excellent information as to what we were seeing, and were very attentive and engaging. We will definitely come back here and strongly recommend it to anyone else.

I rented a mask and snorkel from here and both people working were so helpful and friendly. They answered all of my questions and told me exactly where to go. When I came back they asked me all about my snorkeling and pulled out the fish chart when I was asking about certain fish that I saw. The mask and snorkel was only $ 10 for the entire day.
Bring a bag of cereal or something to feed the fish! They surround you and beg like dogs its hilarious. You don’t even have to go out far to see the fish they will come up to you as soon as you get in the water. If you go out towards the big rocks on the farther end of the cove there is a lot of kelp and it has better views than just the begging fish.

First time snorkeling and we had such an amazing time. Ann was very friendly informative and honest. Ann even saved my GoPro that I dropped Thank You so much. We are hopping to return in the summer.

We had a great time snorkeling with our tour instructor Rob. He was very informative and he made us feel very comfortable before heading out to the ocean and when we were in the ocean. Thanks Rob for the unforgettable experience. We definitely recommend this place. See you guys again in the summer hope you guys remember us :)

You couldn’t ask for a better time than snorkeling with Catalina Snorkeling Adventures. Rob and Ann are great! If you have any hesitancy about snorkeling, don’t because this was the first time I had ever snorkeled and didn’t know what to expect and Rob totally put my mind at ease. He makes sure that everybody, no matter what level you’re at, has a great time and enjoys themselves. We saw about a million fish and were not disappointed. Not only do Rob and Ann give you great snorkeling instruction, they go the extra mile in answering any questions you might have about the island, food, ect… They also have a fabulous walking tour where you learn just about anything you want to know about Catalina Island. I would highly recommend this company to everybody!

This place is great. The people running it are friendly and knowledgeable and want to make sure you have a good time. I would highly recommend coming here.
They were really accommodating for us, we got there a little late in the day (about 3:15 pm), but they still let us go out for an hour and helped us get set up quickly to maximize the daylight in the cove. We didn’t need the guided tour, but did need gear. We had decided not to lug our own equipment with us to the island so we were looking to rent (fins, mask, snorkel, wet-​suit). I can’t remember the exact pricing (my friend took the pamphlet home with her) but it was really reasonable. We asked some questions about the water conditions and where the best place to get into Lover’s Cove was and they were able to help us out immediately (even had the water temperature written on a sign outside their shop).
I was impressed that they were able to get us sized for wet-​suits just by looking at us. I haven’t worn one in a while! The gear was in great shape and they made sure everything fit, didn’t just let us fend for ourselves. They also held our bags for us so we didn’t have to run to the lockers in-​between.
They gave us an extra 10 minutes as well for walking/​changing which was great. We were able to maximize our time in the water.
Overall, these guys are awesome. They got us outfitted quickly, directed us where to go and had the answers to our questions about the water conditions. Will definitely keep them in mind for future trips.
Just remember to look for the red sign!
