Southern California’s première Christian Camp and Retreat Center with the most unique setting: a remote stretch of private beach on Santa Catalina Island near Avalon.

Church groups and Christian non-​profits rent this campsite for youth retreats, men’s groups and bible camp. Also offers family camp programs and youth sleep away camp plus outdoor education in marine science.

Week long, fully programmed summer camps available for individual or group registration for High School and Jr High students. Operated by InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.

Just 3 short miles from tourist village of Avalon — close enough for excursions but feels like a world away. Residence camp is only accessible by boat or hiking trail. Groups brought to campsite by private chartered ferry operated by Catalina Express or by contracted water taxi. Getting here begins the adventure!

History

Established in 1951.

Located at Gallagher’s Beach, this cove served as a survival training camp during World War II and has been rented by InterVarsity Christian Fellowship of the USA since 1951.

Originally established to be the Southwest Training Center for InterVarsity staff and students who participate in the many on campus chapters of this Christian club that seeks to see witnessing communities of Christian students at the University.

CBS plays host to these conferences as well as group rental site for Christian churches and non-​profits.

Manager

Shane is the Guest Services Manager for Campus by the Sea and has worked in Christian Camping since 1993, serving at other notable facilities like Forest Home and Mission Springs. Many of the current management team has served at Forest Home and other notable facilities. Collectively, their experience is like a bah-​zillion years. So we know how to serve your group and serve them well.
