Wash & Run Auto Detail

My car was absolutely COVERED in dog hair and smelled like smoke when I dropped it off to be detailed. I paid for the marathon service because my car was in such a poor state. It took them almost three hours to finish but overall they did a great job. They got all of the dog hair off of the seats and mats and the cigarette smell was gone. Considering what an awful mess my car was I think they earned their money. There were a few short comings with their work; there was some dog hair and stains on the roof of the car they didn’t get, the interior plastic could have been wiped a bit better, and there is a stain on my passenger seat. If you are the kind if person that this would bother then I wouldn’t go here. It doesn’t bother me considering I know how hard they had to work to get it as clean as they did.

Just drove my car over 1,500 miles with a cat roaming my car. Needless to say my car was covered in cat hair and had a very musty smell due to a cooler leaking during the trip and the entire exterior looked like it had been ambushed by a paint ball gun (bugs) from the drive. They were so accommodating! I was able to bring it in the morning after I called, and in two hours I had a beautiful looking car again. I will for sure be back here again!

Absent during business hours on a Thursday. Merchants nearby say that is typical. If you decide to go, make an appointmwnt and realize that they are in the office park, hidden from the Ben White feeder road.

I recently had a full detail, it was Avg. I’ve had much better but the price was great ($ 125 SUV). Just dont expect to be blown away.

This would be five stars but the company moved that morning into a new space and no waiting area. BUT the owner drove me to a Starbucks to wait while they did excellent work cleaning my vehicle. I carry about bikes and stuff and it was a mess. They were polite, efficient, and the car was clean everywhere. Seriously, the wait time was 33% faster that other companies in town. I will go there again and I know the service will be excellent.

Finally a decent place for a car wash.
I’ve had a hard time finding a place here in Austin that actually cleans your car without leaving crap behind. Coming from San Antonio, there’s a place (hand car wash of De Zavala) that pays attention to every detail, using pressured air to get the water out of hard places, among other things. Packages start at $ 18, awesome! But we’re talking about Wash and Run, point is, this is the closest I have gotten to the place in San Antonio.
I had to get there at 9am for an appointment, a bit early for me, setting an appointment for a car wash is odd, but the more I thought about it the more I liked it. Better than sitting and waiting for bloody hours, which I used to do in San Antonio, in the sun. Just like everyone else has said, there is an Austin Java across the street where you can wait, which I did for about an hour… which is also as long as they said it would take, so it was expected.
When I went to pick up my car I noticed there was some major scrapes and gouges on my passenger door. It was from a recent road trip that I didn’t notice, I wasn’t too happy about it. I was told about a guy that does painting for them on the side and that i could come back and get a quote. Cool! So I told him I was interested and he sent me a message later that day with a time to come back, very persistent.
This place has great customer service. If you’re not happy with the wash, I’m sure they’d do anything until you were. I got the feeling that they want you as a return customer, so they’re not going to give you bad wash or bad service.
Only down side for me is, I like to get my car washed every week or 2… I’m not about to pay $ 40 for a weekly touchup. I would be willing to do $ 20, but I don’t need a detail that often. They do offer an unlimited monthly wash. That might be worth it. Still debating.
Anyway, If you’re looking for a place that actually gets your car cleaned, the right way, try them out.

I love supporting locally owned business and I was so excited when my dad gave me a gift card to Wash & Run for my bday last year. He’s an out of towner & not familiar with Austin, so I was so proud of him for using Unilocal to find a good locally owned business to support!
These guys are busy busy but still managed to get my car detailed & waxed in an hour & ½. I was very pleased with the detail work they did & the waxing job. My car was dirty dirty & needed a inside cleaning badly. They did a wonderful job making it look good as new. The owner, Emory was great with getting back with me regarding my appt. & any questions I had.
It can be difficult to find their location because they don’t have a Wash & Run sign up but if you look for the gas station off Exposition & Windsor, you will see it. If you turn left into the gas station, off Exposition, wind around & you will see it!

I just had the marathon treatment completed on my car today, and what two express car washes could not clean up last week at a different place, Wash and Run was able to make sparkle. My car had just completed a long road trip and was quite filthy. I was very happy with the spanking clean car that was returned to me.
I had reached out to a couple of different auto detailers in the area, and the owner of Wash and Run was the only one to respond to me quickly. As the hours are M — F from 8 – 5 pm, I requested if they do a drop off and pick up service. They do, but I was outside their normal zone, but they for a small extra fee were flexible to arrange this for me. There was a first time Unilocal discount for the marathon treatment which was also a great bonus.
The place was a bit hard to find at first as the location is shared by two businesses, but someone quickly pointed me to the correct spot which is next to the Texaco and under a green awning entitled Ceasers.
The owner was super friendly and as a local gave me a lot of tips of places to check out. They also accepted all forms of payment. I would definitely go back here again once my car needs some TLC.

I had their most expensive «Marathon» detail done for my car.
Simply put, it was not clean. There was actually visible bird crap in several places and many bug smears that I had to clean myself when I got the car back. The front bumper still has bugs on it. The side skirts were _​filthy_​, as if nobody even looked at them. In some areas, wax was literally still sitting on the car unbuffed. There’s still sticky stuff in my cupholders. It was pretty dirty, but that’s why I take it to get detailed. To their credit, the areas where they actually put in the effort look pretty nice.
Also, my girlfriend dropped the car off and headed to the gym and that interfered with their plans for closing early at 3PM instead of their advertised 5PM. They hemmed and hawed with her on the phone and told her they could leave the keys with the gas station next door so they could get out early. She didn’t want to do that so she had to rush to accomodate their early closing.
It seems that these guys were in a big rush to do pretty much anything except clean my car right. Very frustrating given all the positive reviews on Unilocal.Also pretty much the worst possible hours for a car washing joint. Not open on weekends? What?

This review is for a while back. Being that I’ve been on the hunt for car washes around town I admittedly haven’t found any other car wash service that does as great a job as this place does. I’m the type of person that likes to find the best «bang for his buck» yet I also want too notch quality and after visiting several other car detailing shops around town I can say without a doubt that Wash & Run is that place. I paid for their 80 $ service and left a 20 $ tip. They said it would be about an hour to an hour and a half being that they fit me in (back when Wash & Run was on S Congress) so I went for a walk with my girlfriend at Zilker Park and they said they would give me a call when it was finished.
When I left, my truck was a mess. It was dirty & dull, it had white paint on the silver paint, I had driven through a massive paint spill at my apartments in the middle of the night, and the inside was just atrocious.
When I came back to inspect it I was blown away. It looked like it had just left the dealership. The wax job was excellent and so was the interior detail job that they did. I have high expectations for the money I had spent and I truly couldn’t have been happier. What blew me away the most was that they took off most of the white paint that I had driven through. There was still some left but it was 95% removed. I could tell they worked their asses off trying to remove that paint.
Upon finishing up my inspection and grabbing my keys the manager showed me the product he had used to remove the majority of that paint. I couldn’t have been a more satisfied customer. Though 100 $ may be a little much to pay, after visiting other places in town, it’s worth every penny.

I made an appointment for a Friday morning for the Sprint. However, I also wanted them to wipe out the interior, but didn’t want anything else from the Mile service. So, they said they would do the Sprint plus an interior wipe down for $ 10 extra (total $ 40).
I arrived around 10am and they promptly took my car and directed me to an Austin Java across the street. Since they’re now in a Texaco parking lot, they don’t have a waiting room or really any signs. They need to add a sign, it was confusing…
They said it would take about 45 minutes and after about 35 minutes, they called me to come pick up my car.
The exterior of the car looked squeaky clean and the interior was much cleaner, but there were some spots that didn’t look as clean as I would’ve like. In particular, there was still a decent bit of dust in the air vents and the carpet around the mats in the front had a decent bit of dirt still, like they didn’t really vacuum that area. And since that’s the whole reason we pay to get our car washed from time to time, that was a bit disappointing. However, I suppose you get what you pay for. They are also only open M-​F 8am –5pm, which is terribly inconvenient.
So, we might try somewhere else next time.

My «unofficial» rating is actually 4.5 stars — I’m rounding it up to 5.
I drive a black late-​model Audi S4 and wanted a detailing shop that was known for doing a great job — without spending too much money. It was past time for my car’s first wax job. Wash & Run Auto Detail stood out to me, with its nearly universal positive reviews and reasonable prices. (If I had taken my car to the dealership they would have charged me a lot more — even with their discount promo.)
So I booked an appointment for last Friday (⁶⁄₁₅) morning. Booking process was simple and straightforward. Selected «The Mile» service. When I got there, Thomas told me that the job would take 1 to 1 ½ hours. So I walked across the river over to Austin Java on 2^nd St, had a light breakfast and a mint-​flavored espresso, and used their free wifi to surf the web on my iPad. Sure enough, a little over an hour later, Thomas called me to tell me my car was done. I walked back and gave the car a walk-​around inspection — in a nutshell, the car looked every bit as good as new. W&R did a great job on the exterior, the wheels, and the interior. It looked just about spotless. Thomas told me that the mats were still slightly damp and advised me to keep the windows open for a short while. No big deal.
After I drove home, I decided to give the car a much closer inspection — and noticed a small spot above the left tail-​light that they missed. That’s why the «deduction» of half-​a-​star. With that said, my overall impression is extremely positive, and I will definitely return to Wash & Run for future professional detailing jobs. Yet another case where a locally-​owned shop is superior to chains.
I had no difficulty finding the place (Google Street View helped). Right next to RunTex. If you approach from the north like I did, it’s on the left-​hand side and easy to spot. On the other hand if you approach from the south then I can see how one could have difficulty finding the place.

Primarily based upon the «reviews» off of Unilocal,my wife took her Range Rover in for detailing.
#1, the quality of the work for the «Marathon Detail» was sub par.
#2, Wash and Run admittedly tore the leather on the drivers side door and initially agreed to pay for the cost to fix it. The manager /​owner gave my wife the name and number of some obscure and inconvenient leather repair shop. As my wife can not be without a car for her job, my wife stated she would take to the Land Rover dealership for an estimate as she will receive a free loaner car during the time the car is in the shop.
Upon presenting the estimate to the manager /​owner, he has now refused to pay for the repair.
We have now had to get our attorney involved and reported to the Better Business Bureau

I was blind, but now I can see (out of my windows).
These guys did a great job cleaning my car today. I admit, as my car has gotten older, I’ve stopped taking the best care of her. With a visit to Austin by my mom looming, I figured now was as good of a time as any to get the interior vacuumed and dusted as well as the outside washed and spray waxed.
I was going to go to the Genie car wash by my work, but after reading the terrible reviews that other people had left, I decided that these guys would probably be better to go to. I was glad I did — they didn’t haggle with my on the price, (which was really reasonable for how thorough of a job they did) were really polite and professional, and were done pretty quickly (it only took them about 45 minutes for the whole thing). They called me back quickly when I went to make an appointment and squeezed me in over my lunch hour.
The only negative is how difficult it is to find the place — I highly suggest looking it up on Google Street View beforehand so that you know how to find it.

Why is it so hard to find a reliable, quality hand car wash in this town? I think this may be the only car wash with 5 stars on Unilocal.I have had an older car that I was ready to sell detailed at Wash & Run. I also had a new car washed here recently. Both jobs were done extremely well.
It took about 2 hours for the detail and one of the employees drove me to Austin Java on 2^nd Street so I could work, use the wifi and get some food. And he picked me up when they were done. Car was spotless!
The new car was dirty from all of the pollen. I got an appointment within an hour of calling them. They quoted 45 minutes but it was done in 20. Also clean as a whistle.
The staff is friendly and attentive. I will be back and happy to refer anyone.

I found this place on Unilocal and the 15% Unilocal discount plus high reviews sold me. I did the Marathon service (mid level)
LOCATION: This business is located on the NORTH SIDE OF RUNTEX. They do not have an easily visible sign from the road so get into the Runtex parking lot and find it from there. If you’re going south on 1^st street, make the left into the Runtex parking lot.
They did not answer the phone when I called to set an appointment but they responded to my email within 30 minutes and also responded and accommodated my change of time the next day very quickly. Kudos to them.
My car acted as the quintessential example of «I’m in college and haven’t cleaned my car in over a year .» Trash, papers, pens, lighters, papers, straw wrappers… They did an excellent job and even put the pens they found in a cup in my cup holder! The inside looks and smells brand new.
The cleaning wasn’t perfect– side view mirrors were spotted and the plastic guard in the trunk was wet/​a little dirty. I found those issues pretty insignificant.
I highly recommend this business. It took about 1.5 hours for them to clean it so I walked over to Upper Deck (about 5 minutes away) and used their free WiFi. Also a good idea.

Wash & Run is a local business owned and operated by two twin brothers.
The location is wonderful as it is located in the parking lot of Run Tex on the corner of 1^st and Riverside. It is directly across from Auditorium Shores so you can drop your vehicle off and go for a run, or bring your dog and let them play with the other dogs while your vehicle gets washed. If being outside isn’t your cup of tea you can use the pedestrian bridge which is right outside Wash & Run and go sip some java or shop or grab a bite of food from the 2^nd St district which is straight up the bridge downtown. If you are feeling especially randy you can bring your own posters and do some Occupy Austin protests while you get your car detailed as that is also happening downtown right up from the pedestrian bridge.
They offer 3 different packages with their most expensive being the full out detail known as the Marathon Wash. This costs $ 150 before tip (yes, car detailing should be tipped at least 15%). Depending on your vehicle it will probably take around 2 hours to do the biggest detail.
My truck is a black Toyota Tacoma and when I came back 2 hours later from it getting the Marathon Wash I couldn’t believe my eyes. My truck looked like a new truck. The waxing job was amazing and really deepened the hue to a rich black. The inside was clean and my beloved carpets shampooed and fresh.
I think because this is such a small operation run by the two twin brothers that your car will get more of a detailed TLC than say, taking it to H2O. I highly recommend taking your vehicle here next time you need a good clean.

1. I was able to get my car detailed the same day I called to schedule an appointment.
2. The work was done on time.
3. Overall, my car was the cleanest it’s been in a while. My boyfriend normally washes my car, and does a good job. But, he can’t get into all the crevices like Wash & Run did.

Cons:
1. I purchased the Marathon package, and the work looked great when I was at Wash & Run. However, when I got home, I noticed some oversights. Namely, my trunk was not vacuumed, my cup holders looked clean, but when I ran my finger inside, they were still dirty. Lastly, the inside back window was still a little cloudy. Small things, yes, but when I pay over $ 100 for detailing, well, I expect for those details to be done right the first time. I should have popped the trunk while I was there, but I didn’t even think to do that. I e-​mailed Wash & Run, and Thomas got back to me promptly, apologizing for the inconvenience, and told me to come back to have them correct the mistakes.
2. As I mentioned above, the work was done on time. Actually, it was done ahead of time. My appointment was at 4, but I dropped it off about 15 minutes early, not expecting that they would start before 4. Thomas told me they might be able to start earlier because they had a mini Cooper in ahead of me. He called me about 5 to let me know they would be done in about 5 minutes. Kinda surprised that work that was supposed to take 2 hours actually took half the time. But, I do drive a smaller car. Given the oversights, though, I feel like they just did a rush job on my car.
I’m ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ on returning. I’m VERY picky about work being done well the first time, so only time will tell if I return. Based on the other reviews, though, maybe they were just having an off day.

First time using wash and run —
Good experience all around. It was easy to make an appointment, and I just dropped the car off and it was done 2.5 hours later.
They did an awesome job! I got the marathon package for my car that hadn’t had a good cleaning for 10 years, and they got it to look almost like new. I didn’t even know the true color of the leather until they got done with it.
I’d gladly pay for the marathon again!
