University Co-Op

Love the Co-​Op, this is the UT mecca for whatever you are looking for. There is always something to buy and there is always so much to choose from. Parking garage behind it is great to get in and out, if you purchase they will validate as well so bring your ticket with you. There is a great photo spot with Bevo in the back, during graduation he’ll get dressed up too. There is a new Welcome to Austin sign that is very well painted and the color is much better than the original sign. There are a few food trucks in the back that I have yet to get to try. The people at the Co-​Op are helpful and friendly. There is a sale/​outlet section on the 3^rd floor. There are some things that you can find elsewhere for cheaper bur for the most part this is where you can get anything and everything UT.

This is the only place you should buy any UT gear. They are very unique and have lots to choose from. Started coming here as a freshman in 93 when I bought books but now come to get Texas fashion. We stopped here to get some new longhorn tees. The second story has a nice collection for women including Nike workout outfits and dress clothes too.
They also have a great online store.

So I only fave it three stars because its a cool place for students and their families. But has no appeal to me personally. With that said, they have adult (mens\womens) and kids UT everything. Upstairs they have a furniture area that is quite handy to get your giant bean bags and futons from. The store was clean and you can see that it is ran by college students (obviously)… If you need a UT dress, onesie, umbrella, rug, shorts or souvenir this is a great place to go. Plus they take UT bucks, which again for students is great.

This place is a mockery of a university bookstore and reflects poorly on the school’s academic integrity. It only carries coursebooks, and then often not enough and at heavily inflated prices. Their return policy is atrocious. Avoid at all costs, unless you want Longhorn condoms or disgustingly ugly $ 300 Longhorn-​branded boots.
I hate everyone having anything to do with this place.

Anything and Everything Longhorn’s! — If you want to decorate your house, life, car, and body in Bevo gear, then this is your one and only stop! Two floors, from dresses to Bevo chocolate bars, your life is complete after walking in and out of here. Only down side is that it was sweltering hot inside the store, in December. But, highly recommended to get your UT fix on. Just ask Brooke A. — and she will point you in the right direction, I secretly think she has the store layout memorized!

I have lived in Austin almost 5yrs and in that time I had never really explored the Drag or Campus. I came upon the CoOp after a friend was showing us around and said this was a place to see in and of itself (the amount of Longhorn gear in here is mind-blowing…you think you know, but you don’t).
We explored almost everywhere and I was in awe of all the memorabilia, the kitsch, and UT paraphernalia along with any and every item of clothing imaginable with a longhorn. It really is a sight to behold!
I did like that they do carry other things as well, such as music & tech stuff, student bric-​à-​brac, and non-​longhorn adorned tshirts.
There is this cool little tshirt corner that has some neat ATX specific tshirts (nice quality cotton) one of which I ended up buying because it has the «Hi How Are You?» Alien (which is one of my fav ATX icons). I was surprised that it was very reasonably priced ($ 16.99) for being a college store.
They also have an outlet center w/​furniture on the 2^nd flr and what looked to be a box office on the first flr as you walk out the back towards the food trailer park.
Definitely worth a look around if you are ever wandering the Drag, if you want a good on-​campus tshirt find, or want ANYTHING with a longhorn on it!
Fun Find: There are «mystery stairs» (only because I didn’t explore where they went) that have a really cool campus tower mural!

The Co-​Op is a love hate relationship. I love it because it’s one of the places where I can go for all memorabilia UT related. I come back periodically to see what new shirts have been released or who’s jersey is being sold. The Hate part stems from the prices. It’s probably one of the highest marked up places to get a UT logo tshirt. I do like the area they created behind the Co-​Op and the addition of the parking lot. Both pluses in my book.

This place has all the UT swag you could ever think of. I purchased my postcards and pint glass from the Co-​op and the staff was pleasant. It is also right across the street from campus as well as being right on The Drag close proximity to many restaurant and retail stores.

This place has everything burnt orange you can imagine.
I’m definitely a sucker at paying this place a visit and spending well over what I thought I would spend coming in to this place.
My only complaint is the prices are steep which then hurts my wallet. Other than that — happy shopping longhorn peeps!

Definitely a place monopolizing on the school logo!!! GEEZ…
You name it I mean anything and they have put a long horn logo on it and are trying to sell it to anyone walking through the door. I get school spirit but this place takes it to a whole different level. BTW I didn’t say its a bad thing just something I am not used to.
I went here as a tourist not a student so I can’t not testify as to the selection of textbooks they apparently have I didn’t even look at them. Prices are a bit on the higher end based on similar products sold in regular retail stores. But, what do you expect its a college bookstore right across the street from the campus of course your going to pay a few bucks more for everything.
The staff is not helpful or friendly at all. They casually «follow» you around the store not asking if you need help just «pretending» to straighten up but they are really making sure you aren’t stealing anything. Really? I am 6’4″ 30 years old in a store with my wife… what am I going to take that requires you to send someone to «check up» on me without saying a single word to me multiple times every few minutes. Why can’t you guys upgrade your crappy camera security system so you can spy on me without walking past me making the whole situation an awkward experience???
Would I go back? probably not too many other retail stores sell long horn merchandise at a more reasonable price that do not make you feel like a thief.

Man this place has been a pain in my arse lately. My Dutch textbooks that I ordered before the semester began came in late apparently (they are more obscure and this is the only place to get them in town). They told me they would notify me when they came in. Great. Never got a notification. My money was refunded and I was so confused because I still wanted those books!
Turns out this happened to several people in my class but everyone else got their books. A lot of frustration and inconvenience all because someone couldn’t do their job and notify me like they said they would.
The people working in the basement are always pretty rude as well. Just an unpleasant place.

Co-​Op has GOT to be one of the top 5 places for me to go when in Austin, as sad as that sounds.
I tried to avoid going here during my ATX trip this year, but alas could not peel myself away. The minute I stepped into the store I was greeted with the warm fuzzy feeling of Burnt Orange mania. And I love every single second of it.
HOOK EMMMMM.

Ah the ol University Coop where I went to as a student to burn all of my lunch money on those textbooks that costs more than a months worth of food.
I recently visited the Coop and found out with all of the clothing they sell, they only have one fitting room on the first floor. Very interesting but the coop does have everything longhorn related which is a haven for any UT fan out there. I love this place but I know it gets ridiculous on game days and when school starts.
Furthermore, for all of you old timers, there is a parking garage for the coop now located behind it.

After spending the first twenty plus years buying textbooks and Longhorn swag here, I must say I love this place. Don’t get distracted with the money grabbing post bowl win shirts that they start selling the day after a big win. Pay attention to everything else they do!
When you are a student, save all of your receipts on textbooks! They will give you money back at the end of the year. Sure it was a pain in the ass to spend a couple hundred dollars on textbooks each year, but it was nice to get a gift card for 70 to 80 bucks after the rebate process.
It was like Longhorn Santa was visiting me every year and giving me all kinds of burnt orange goodness.
If you are coming to this location, park in the garage behind it off of San Antonio street. Parking is free with purchase. Plus you can see the crazy Bevo statue they have in the back.
The only thing that is a bummer, is that they don’t have much academic stickers for your car. Sometimes you want a window sticker that says College of Engineering or College of Liberal Arts. They don’t have those kind of items here. (I haven’t found them yet anyways)

We came here to find some items for the 2012 football season and always amazing all the items they have with the Texas Longhorn emblem on it. There is a parking garage on the street right behind it where most cases is free, but sometimes you just have to get the parking slip validated in the store. They have a wide range of products, but you are looking for high-​end apparel then you would have to visit another store like Longhorn Ltd. This place is always packed and they always have new items for sale at the front of the store. I never walk out empty handed and if you have a Texas Exes membership then you get a discount at purchase.

Wowza. UT is all about school spirit. this is your one-​stop shop for Longhorn gear. there is something for every man, women & child. and pet. and car. and… well, you get the picture.
something at every price point & taste (classic, tacky, hoochie mama, gangsta, etc.)
if you don’t find a souvenir, you are doing it on purpose.

Its a love-​hate relationship.
This place is great! The Co-​Op has the best inventory of Longhorn gear! Gotta love all the top name brands on all the clothing.
Of course theres always the downside. The Co-​Op is always over-​priced… Still, even then I wouldn’t go anywhere else for my Longhorn gear.
Now for those buying textbooks… look elsewhere!

I can see this as being an awesome place for school pride if you come to UT. Having visited a few times just to check it out, see the school spirit, I almost wish I went to UT so I could buy the gazillions of cool things that are UT branded and at stellar prices!
To compare, perhaps this is unfair as I went to a private school, a tshirt for example for my school would be a whooping $ 34.99. At the University Co-​Op it’s only $ 15.99 at best! Sometimes even $ 9.99. shocking! I’d wear my school stuff all the time if that was the case.
Same thing with other items like fleeces, I loveeee my university fleece but it cost me over $ 60! Here you can buy fifteen variations for around $ 20. Unheard of… seriously.
Totally worth checking out, even if you didn’t go to UT. Highly recommended.

This is potentially my favorite place in Austin. In fact we came here 3 times in 2 days and spent probably a total of 4 hours here.
I came to visit Austin with two other girls from NYC and we absolutely fell in love with the UT spirit! All three of us went to school at NYU where our football team has been undefeated since 1942 (aka we haven’t had one since then) and our mascot is a purple flower (violets). One of the girls I was with was also a cheerleader in high school and I guess you can say we went a LITTLE craycray with our UT/​Longhorns/​Burnt Orange love.
Upon entering the store, everything is legit the color of burnt orange. You can find enough things to furnish a house (beds, chairs, socks, wreaths, etc.) My friend and I each picked up 3 things while there (nike running shorts, cheer shorts, and off the shoulder shirt for me; cheer shorts, tshirt, and sweat pants for her). We were also lucky enough to be there for this fashion event where we received 20% off our purchases along with some snacks and wine!
There was also this Burnt Orange Tailgating guy at the event that gave us a free t-​shirt if we wore it, got our picture taken, and allowed them to post it on the Co-Op’s Facebook page. So yes, there are two NYU alumni in a UT Facebook album.
Although we love our school, we have to say that we envy the spirit UT kids have for their school and the massive amount of cute options to sport the Longhorns logo! We’re proud to be sporting our UT gear in NYC! \m/
