Tommys Tree Service

Tommy always arrives right away, when I call. He lets me observe/​and help choose/​which limbs are trimmed. He takes his time, keeps viewing the trees from different angles, and is careful. The results are just fine, the clean up is quick and thorough, and the price fair.

Called Tommy on Fri. late re-​planting a 15 gal. tree in my back yard which has many rocks under the topsoil which prevented me from completing the job myself. Came the next day and with his helper Cesar quickly got the job done. Quick to respond. Gets the job done. Nice guys. Reasonable price.

Tommy’s an old school Texan who will get the job done right the first time. His crew arrived and took care of business, removing a 50 foot tree that was dangerously close to our house. Left the job site nice and clean and the price was very affordable given the quality of the work performed. Highly recommended.***update*** I’m sad to report that his crew did not clean up the pecans and branches that were on the roof after cutting down the tree. The next hard rain saw the gutters damming up and water leaking into the house. In addition, they did not put down a blue tarp in the front yard and now we have a million pecans on our hardscape. Our millenium cactus was also trampled to death****

I needed some stumps removed/​ground out in my yard. I live in south Austin, so I called Tommy, since his office is close to my house. I talked to him around 10am. He was at my house to give me a quote by 10:45am and the work was done by 2pm. Same day! The price was very reasonable. He even did more work than we agreed to, for no additional charge! I highly recommend Tommy. Nice guys, no bs approach and they do the work fast.

I had a tree fall on my house and Tommy was able to come out and take care of the tree and branches right away. He was cheaper than we expected considering how big the tree was thank you!

I keep using Tommy’s Tree Service, so I think it’s time to leave a review. Tommy is quick to pick up the phone and quick to come do the job. I’ve had him out on three occassions, and he has done right by me each time. Can’t beat his price or his courtesy.

Called Tommy shortly before noon today and he answered the telephone himself, which is rare indeed. He was on a job at the time, but as soon as they finished, he and his crew arrived at my home just a few hours later and had my tree removed in a very short time. They did a thorough cleanup and left everything pristine. The price was fair and the work was great. I highly recommend Tommy for tree removal. You can’t go wrong.

I called Tommy at eleven am, he came to my house for an estimate at two pm, and the tree branch was down by four — all in the same day.
Before this branch started threatening my power lines and neighbor’s truck, I had never hired a tree trimmer. I had no idea what to expect in terms of cost. I called a different arborist, and he was really cordial. He informed me that since power lines were involved, it was dangerous, and the city would likely do it for free. Otherwise, it would cost me a pretty penny. So I called Austin Energy, and they came out and took a look. Because the tree was dangling over the lines going from the pole to my house, and not the main lines, they wouldn’t do it.
Unlike most tree trimmers (and believe me, I called many), Tommy answered his phone right away. The quote he gave me was much, much more reasonable than the previous quote I had. And once the work was done, since the servicing was a little easier than expected, Tommy charged me less than the original quote.
It’s worth mentioning that what I payed Tommy was exactly half of what the other arborist quoted me. Fast, friendly, and affordable. What a great team.

I needed a tree removed and one trimmed up. I found Tommy’s tree service on Unilocal and was impressed with his reviews. He contacted me that afternoon about when he could come give the estimate. He was out the next afternoon and offered a fair price. He said he would be out by the next few days. He was here by the second day and they had the tree removed that afternoon. His team was very nice and cleaned up after themselves. Thanks for the great service!

Tommy was wonderful. He’s quite the «Bubba-​Joe» personality. for lack of a better way of describing him. But an honest, hard-​working man.
We called Tommy, he showed up the next day to quote us. It was $ 300 for him to trim our oak tree, remove a dead tree, and some minor trimming to a smaller tree. What?! That was a quarter of the price that other places quoted us for just trimming our oak tree!
The next day he came out with his crew. It took them about 2 – 3 hours to do it all. Cleaned up everything after themselves. including racking up small leaves and twigs.
He even lift us a pair of clippers (there’s probably a more professional name for them) to trim our bushes, since we asked if he could do it. And he said he doesn’t do lawn work like that. I thought that was really sweet of him.
We will definitely be using Tommy again and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a tree trimming/​removal service.

Called Tommy yesterday in the afternoon. Came out the next morning and had the job done by 2:30pm. Highly entertaining character and ended up charging less than the quote… when does that happen? Recommending him for sure.

A seemly healthy tree was uprooted on my property a few weekends ago. It fell into another tree and was in danger of falling onto the garage. Being the weekend, It was hard to get anyone on the phone. I called Tommy as he advertises a 24 hour service. Not only did he answer, he was also enthusiastic about coming over to check it out. He arrived shortly afterwards and assessed the situation. He gave me a reasonable quote and said he could start the next day. Around 9:00am he arrived with his crew and within 20 minutes had the tree on the ground and ready to be hauled. He said he had to dump his trailer from the previous day and then he’d be back to clean up. I had to leave for work, so on good faith I went ahead and paid him before the job was finished. Tommy called me at work to say he had returned and everything was picked up, he even managed to get the stump out of the ground!
Overall, Tommy is an honest straight-​shooter with affordable rates and will get trees removed from your property. I’m am very happy with the services he provided. Thanks Tommy!

We called Tommy’s Tree Service one evening when a tree fell on our house. Tommy sent Edmund over to take a look that night in the dark just to reassure us that removal could wait for the morning. They came the next day and quoted us a price. We checked with other tree services and a contractor friend and found their price and availability were the best. They cleared the tree efficiently in just a few hours, painted the stump and even chopped up the tree for firewood! We were very impressed.

I called yesterday morning and an hour later chainsaws were buzzing in my backyard. Tommy came over right away, gave me a great estimate and him and his crew did a great job. Removed one dead tree and I can’t even tell now that a tree had been there. They also removed a live tree, trimmed a huge tree and shaved down some of my stumps. Tommy kept asking if I was pleased by the job and I was. They used a blower to clean off my roof and porch when they were done and raked up the little sticks and branches from the yard. It was all done within two hours too. Great customer service. I will hire them again for any tree trimming in the future.

I called Tommy at 4:00 PM on a Friday afternoon, expecting to set something up for next week. He answered the phone himself and drove from the Lake Travis area to central Austin; arriving at my house by 6:00 PM that same day. He gave me a very reasonable quote and wanted to get started the next morning. I had some dead trees and some less desirable trees that I wanted removed, plus a big pile of brush in my backyard…
He had his crew out early the next morning (Saturday) and they were finished by about noon! Also, they were very careful not to mess up any of my landscaping while dealing with large dead trees.
Overall, I was very impressed with the price, speed and quality. Tommy is my tree guy from now on.

I had a huge tree split in half and it was about to fall on my house (and new roof). I called Tommy about 10:00 am, and he was there by noon. He gave me a reasonable estimate and the tree was down and hauled off by noon the next day. Great work again from Tommy and his crew.

I called Tommy’s Tree Service to help deal with an old growth tree that was in dire need of pruning. The tree is on a hill that leans over far enough to make it a risk for splitting. I was impressed that Tommy answered the phone himself and was very polite. I told them that it was somewhat urgent, and he said he’d get over as early as he could. He had other jobs, which I respected. We agreed to meet much later in the afternoon, but I got a call an hour later saying he was on his way.
Tommy came with a young helper and another older gentleman who appeared to be the «arborist» of the operation. All of the gentlemen were very nice & friendly. They looked at my situation and immediately recommended that I «top» my tree!
Topping is absolutely not recommended by any licensed arborist. A tree that needs topping may as well be permited for removal since topping the tree ends up killing it later down the road. Google «topping a tree» and see what you discover. I was shocked & disappointed that they were so quick to suggest this at a cost of $ 1,200. They even tried to convince me that the tree would quickly grow back with new sucker growth even stronger than before.
They seemed in a hurry to get started on the job, but I politely declined and sent them on their way.
While I can’t speak to the work of Tommy’s Tree Service, my advice is to be very careful with their recommendations. If your tree needs simple pruning, these guys might be a good value. I don’t know. But if your tree needs a careful, professional approach, I could not in good conscience recommend Tommy’s Tree Service.

If you are looking for a hard working man who will get the job done, then Tommy is your guy. We had him cut two trees down and clean up three and all this was for $ 400. We gave him a little extra because one of the Pear trees was a beast to take down. We have also recommended him to a few of our friends and as we speak he is taking care of one of them now.
He is an old man trying to make a living in these tough times, but he is honest, local, and hard working. I would for sure use him again!
