Can’t go wrong with the American Club, both cheeses, and Thunder Sauce! My fave sub shop. Wish Kyle had one.

Decent subs though this location has a rundown vibe and the guy making our sandwiches must’ve been having a really bad day, completely emotionless and monotone. The rest of the staff were really friendly and engaged.

Great subs and great location! As a vegan, I just made THESEXIESTSAMMICHEVAAAA. With the help of the awesome crew. I threw new guy Tannon for a loop lmao. Obvi not the easiest customer ever. But he and night manager Trey were awesome! Veggie Delight sub jalapeños for olives, added lettuce with the sprouts for no extra cost, hummus(instead of the cream cheese option), add thundercloud sauce, added red cabbage for 30¢ and a nada chicken patty for $ 1.35? Or something. SOBOMB! So sexy. It can get expensive if you’re adding a bunch of shit but Trey let me know that tomatoes, lettuce and onions added to anything are no extra cost. Word. I love me my red onions. So ya, I got extra.

I’ve probably eaten here the most out of all the places here in Austin as this is the closest place to work that’s affordable to eat on a daily basis where you can get a meal that fills you up without hitting double digits. This location allows for online ordering which I always utilize and it works well most of the time. They have a separate window outside for those orders so you can skip the lunch rush hour line entirely and skip the waiting. The problem is they get the orders wrong at a higher ratio than what I would deem acceptable. This has not happen to me when I’m ordering in person but using the online/call in to order. This is bound to happen, especially when I eat here on a weekly basis but I can count 4 – 5 times when I have gotten someone else’s food. I now check the bag to make sure I have the right items. Even if its wrong I probably wouldn’t care too much because I’m usually in a rush to go back and don’t want to wait further… unless it’s roast beef because I’ve actually gotten sick from the roast beef here. I would avoid that at all costs. They have very limited parking and it is a pain to go in and out so it’s best to walk or ride your bike there. I’ve also never had any issue with the staff and they have always been friendly and courteous, even during the lunch time crunch.

From work, we order from there at least 2 times a week, mostly out of convenience. Convenience is a funny word to use considering we always pick up and something is missing at least once a week. I’ll go with close proximity. They certainly don’t miss a charge on a ticket, such as a bag of chips, extra cheese or a drink, but regularly forget to make sure everything is in your bag. Today, I ordered a hot pastrami sandwich. It is ice cold wrapped in tinfoil. The staff is always friendly as forgetful and they are open during normal business hours. That is a two star plus.

Best subs I’ve had I didn’t make myself. Blows subway of of the water. Everything is fresh, and is sliced fresh daily. Besides the lettuce, they even wait to slice the veggies you want on your sandwich.

Lake Austin may be one of the most enjoyable strips to find family-friendly dining in Austin, with offerings ranging from the most iconic coffee shop, to lake-side patio dining, even to 24-hour eateries. Oh, and Tex-Mex. And… well, sandwiches and entrance into Westlake. Lake Austin Blvd. has it all. Thundercloud Subs, one of many – but this location specifically, fits right into the category of convenience at its finest. Cheap, something for everyone, and just all around consistent. One thing I am proud of is how the grub always tastes good, or at least as good as something that has no attributes about which to complain, regardless of how un-unique the sandwiches actually are. Whether you go with the make your own, one of the specials, or even a veggie. There isn’t much I can say about this that would knock it down, as there really isn’t anything you can go wrong with unless there is bad service. And the fact that this one is located in such a well-trafficed area is testament to how well and where the enterprise places their locations. Good job, TS. Never fail to impress me, or at least keep me simply satisfied.

HANDLING lettuce, MEAT and all other sandwich fillings with BAREHANDS, AFTERHANDLINGMONEY… NOGLOVES! I would give this no stars, if i could. I won’t come back here… not to this location… EVER. The guy who helped us at the counter was way too cool to be working at a sub shop. He was too concerned about himself than about making our sandwiches. He asked what kind of bread and didn’t listen to the reply, so my boyfriend had to say it again… only to realize he didn’t have what he offered. He was completely rude and then proceeded to fix my salad without gloves. GROSS! Just to let you know, @33hole, If you want a tip, don’t act like I just punched you in the face. Sorry for your depression.

THISISONLYREGARDINGTHEGLUTEN-FREEBUNS! I love Thundercloud. I’ve been going to various locations since I was like 5 years old, back when all I wanted was turkey with mayo on a white bun. I’ll continue to go there because they rock! That being said, my foray into the gluten-free buns has ended no bueno. I try to eat gluten-free 90% of the time. It usually works out since Austin has such awesome specialty diet options. So today I got me a Cali Club with sliced jalapeños on a gluten-free bun. Yum, right? WRONG. Everything about the sandwich was fine/normal, but that bun was so disgusting. 1. I’m pretty sure it’s a lot smaller than your regular«small» size bun. 2. It’s dense and soft/gooey, almost like undercooked bread. Becomes glue-like when chewed. 3. It completely drowns any flavor of any other item on your sandwich. I’m not saying don’t go to T Cloud, because you SHOULD, just not if you’re going gluten-free.

This 3-star review is for the service, not the food. I came in here with a toddler on Saturday at 12:30p for lunch. She got the kids turkey half sammie and a cookie(which one did she eat more of?) And I got a Roast Beef/Avocado salad. I’ve been cutting out gluten and dairy so i wasn’t super sure what my options at TC were. I arrived at the salad decision when I saw the gluten free bread… It seemed like a good idea but it looks heavy and not nearly to par as the gluteneous bread. I’d venture to say if you can’t/don’t want to do gluten, skip the bread option and go for salad. The salads are actually pretty great. The girl that took my order was full of ‘tude and made it seem like getting a salad was a big inconvenience – but the base of vegetables are all pre-made, so it’s pretty quick.

Pretty basic subs at good prices. Like most places nowadays(sadly), the«help» doesn’t exactly make me want to rush back. + value: sub of the day is usually under $ 6 for a large. a couple bucks cheaper than most sub places. — customer service: if this girl asks me the same question and makes me repeat myself one more time i’m gonna go apesh*t. — cleanliness: it may just be that the place needs an overhaul, but i dont get the feeling like its very clean in there.

I love this place, kind of an addict! Every sandwhich ive had there has been great! Cali and Austin Clubs being my favorites. Sure the sandwhiches are a bit small and not the standard 1ft sandwhiches everyone is used too now. But they are good really good! I dont know if its that thunder sauce which makes it so good or what but they are extremely addicting. Even there salads are very fresh and delicious! My only real complaint is i wish they has more varience in soups, ive been going here for about 3 – 4 months now and i dont think the soup of the day has changed once… just the same broccoli and cheese and some like southwest veggiatrian i think which is great. but would like some more options. Overall i cant complain I love the food and have never had a bad experence there, HIGHLYRECOMMEND

I haven’t been here in years but we stopped in yesterday hoping for find something to satisfy our hunger and we did! The hot Roast Beef sandwich was great. Actually it was way better than I expected. Service was super fast and friendly. My friend had never been here but was delighted to find a decent place to grab a sandwich on the go when working in this area.

Thundercloud is where I turn to when I’m going for quality, not quantity. I’m not going to lie, I’d like their sandwiches to be bigger, but when I’m trying not to overstuff myself like usual by going to Subway and ordering a $ 5 footlong, I frequent Thundercloud. Do I sound like a piggly wiggly? I’m so glad my friend made me start going here again this year. I had a bad first experience a couple years ago, believed it to be awful and hadn’t been back. But alas, I was turned back to the good side, returning from the dark side. For the most part I think I’m giving it 4 stars because they have fresh guac and its offered on a ton of their sandwiches which I am no doubt in love with. Hard to believe 2 years ago I was not a guac eater. I guess we grow up and our taste buds change? Evolve maybe? In any case, their options are vast, they are local which I love, and they always have some special that is pretty darn cheap that I love to try out. However, how many people really buy the half sandwich? Because seriously that looks like snack size to me. Or as I like to say, «Fun size.» Another plus is that although I don’t drink soda very often, my soda of choice is Pepsi and they have it there, yippee! O and I can’t begin to tell you how much I love their thunder sauce… The only thing I wish is that they had a selection of breads to choose from. But I guess we can’t always have what we want now can we? Maybe in a perfect world where sandwiches meet Ashley standards. Until then… I shall enjoy my sub sandwiches on french bread!

Why does a small club sandwich plus chips and a drink cost $ 8.30 here? Come on Thundercloud, you’re not that much better than Subway.

I am a sub snob, hailing from the east coast. While I appreciate their sammich types(I am eating a Chicken Nada as I type this), their bread is too spongy for my tastes. So: A note to my east coast compadres: Don’t get too excited if you’re looking for a NJ-type sub on NJ-type bread. Your heart will break. But the service is great, the folks are friendly, and the food seems fresh. I feel kinda mean giving it three stars, but three stars means«A-OK» in Unilocal-ese, so I guess it’s not so bad.
