The Spa at Plaza Cortez

Here today gone tomorrow. This Spa closed after many years. The couple started in a much smaller place on McNeil Dr.
They literally closed down in a week, not giving time for patrons to use purchased massage and facial packages. Robin said she would refund monies but have not seen a cent nor responses to my emails.
I’m sorry to see this close as I went there for many years, but now I want my money back.

I used to like this place, but they closed and are not refunding the money on gift certificates they issued. If there are enough of us who haven’t been given a refund, they probably should be prosecuted criminally. If the dollar amount is high enough, it’s a felony.

Ugh, I don’t suppose writing a review in arrears is beneficial but yea, like others, now that the y have closed and I had purchased a gift certificate, getting our $$ on those has been a nightmare hassle. I really loved Robin and her staff when I went there very regularly, but this is BS.
Unfortunate.

Had the exact same experience as LD. Was emailed in December that they were closing and asked to send in information regarding unused certificates for a refund. Received confirmation that I would be receiving a refund for one of them and was told they would go out by the end of the month. Followed up in January and was told within a month. Followed up again in February and received no response. Emailed again in March and was told they were having «difficulty» with the refund because we hadn’t been in the spa in 3 years even though one of the gift certificates was purchased within the time frame they initially set for them to refund. Total garbage and I’m sure none of us will see a refund for money they have received and was never redeemed.

The spa WAS wonderful — now that it’s closed, trying to get the refund for unused gift certificates is a nightmare.
I supplied all the information requested in December and was told it would be a «few weeks» to receive my refund.
Followed up in January and provided all the certificate information again (with copies) and was told refund would be going out in the next «couple months».
Followed up mid-​February and was told it would be a «couple more weeks».
Now getting very vague «they’ll go out soon» information.

I’ve been here several times for a few different services. I can honestly say that my experiences have been really good and really consistent. The place itself is pretty, clean and unpretentious (a plus in my book — I love a business that doesn’t try to look like something it’s not). The staff is genuine and friendly and care about your comfort — before, during and after your treatment (s).
I am not a fan of facials — really. But the microdermabrasion experience is helping me learn to love them in the best way possible… Seriously — it’s a complete experience. Cleansing/​Exfoliation/​Mask/​Hydration AND shoulder and scalp massage AND hand and foot treatment. Kari (sp?) is amazing!
So comfortable. It’s literally an hour where the rest of your life is suspended and your brain turns off. Go there and Enjoy!

I made an appointment for a brow wax and when I arrived, the lady who does the waxing had left for the day and they didn’t feel the need to call me to let me know. They gave a bleak and seemingly uncaring apology and didn’t even offer to reschedule. While I had liked to go here because their prices are great, I think this shows you get what you pay for. There is way too much competition in Austin for them to be treating customers this way.

This place is very nice. The staff are great and so helpful. I will continue with the facials, massages and possibly the wraps.
It is great to be pampered. Go for at least 2 hours! It is well worth it.

I took a friend of mine here for her birthday. We both did 3 hour spa treatments and it was really amazing. My friend was pregnant so she had to have a special massage which I arranged prior to our visit. I did the body scrub, massage and facial. All treatments were amazing and the staff was very kind and professional.
The environment/​rooms are very relaxing and quiet, the hard part is staying awake through the treatments! My sister is coming in a couple of weeks and I’m definitely going to schedule another ½ day of pampering before she leaves!

I hadn’t been to PlaZa Cortez in like 10 years and my girlfriend treated me to a massage and facial. What a fantastic jewel. Nina was ahhhmazing on the massage and Morgan did a terrific job with my facial. It’s a calm environment and you get robes and a generous amount of time between services to relax (with fruit, chocolate and cookies).
There was no uppityness, no weird, forced trite relaxation things. It’s just very very very good services in an unassuming, but relaxing environment.
Will totally go back. Can’t say I didn’t consider not writing a review to keep this place a secret. But that would be Unilocaly of me. So you may now all book services there.

The Spa at Plaza Cortez: FEEL ME, I’M SOFT!
I came home raving about my treatment at this Spa. So much so that I made everyone touch my skin to feel how amazingly soft it was. Possibly inappropriate? Yes. True? Also yes.
I am always labeled a workaholic and I have a hard time relaxing my body, not to mention my brain enough to enjoy treatments like this; but by the end of it I said, «Work? What work?! I’m staying here forever!»
I received the body wrap, massage, and facial 3-​hour package, and it was well worth it. These people have some of the cheapest spa rates in town, but manage to keep it all homey, comfortable, and clean. It’s your basic 1 – 2 punch of relaxing. If you don’t need trendy décor and just want to get down to the nitty-​gritty, this place is for you. Don’t worry, it is well-​appointed, clean and decorated well… it’s just not your trendy crowd you’d get elsewhere. It almost feels as comfortable as visiting your mom’s place (only without the soul-​crushing nagging).
I should mention — these people are MASTERS of the hot towel. Every single treatment, hot towel on the hands/​feet, hot towel on the face. Hot towels all over the place! It’s a good thing.
The wrap went well; it was something I had never received before. It was altogether uncomfortable and relaxing. It may not be my thing because of the constrictive nature of the wrap, but BOY did it work. My attendant was sweet, and told me what to expect every step of the way though, and it was much appreciated.
My favourite part was the massage. I’ve had a LOT of massages, and I also have a lot of stress. My masseuse was perfectly in tune with my body and adjusted her pressure to where I was tender and worked out probably a year’s worth of knots. I say bravo to her because I KNOW it was not easy.
My facial was fun, I liked learning about my face and got a good peel and exfoliation. This was the only time the hot towels didn’t quite work out, as I left with quite a few peely places on my face. I had to run to the store after my appointment and the cashier looked at me like I was some sort of peely-​faced monster. But otherwise, it was all top notch.
I highly recommend, especially if you’re new to Spa.

We went here last weekend. We ended up doing the «spa party» since it was my aunt and sisters birthday weekend. Since there were six of us, we expected that we would all go at the same time, that way we wouldn’t be waiting on each other all morning. If would of been great if they would of told us beforehand that they didn’t have enough people working to accomodate us at the same time, there fore one of us in our group didnt even get a massage; so we wouldn’t have to wait on her. If we had known that, we would not have gone there at all and gone somewhere that would have had enough staff.

Oh my gosh, where to begin! My friend and I did the «spa party» to celebrate her birthday. After calling several other, more expensive places in town that couldn’t accommodate us on a Monday (closed, staff off, etc) I finally came across Plaza Cortez, yay! … From scheduling, to pre-​paying for our services to surprise my friend it couldn’t have been easier. And, when the birthday girl ended up having a work crisis the morning of our appointments, the girls at PC very graciously moved our appointments back and accommodated us which was very greatly appreciated!!!
I will defiantly be back to PC– aside from being super accommodating the services were very good. The massage was one of the better ones I have had, and the facial was also great with the tech offering some good pointers for my misbehaved skin.

First visit was great, and you can’t beat their pricing… uuuuuber cheap!!! However, the massage recently was disappointing. The therapist was personally awkward, really made you feel like she didn’t want to be there. Second, she didn’t appear to listen to what my problem areas were because I had to politely remind her twice.

I purchased the 2 Hour Pampering Package for a co-​worker in my office. All I have heard from her is how fantastic it was and how I MUST write up a review. So, here it goes!
Regarding the transaction, it was super easy. I went to the website and purchased the spa package using my credit card. I printed out the gift certificate and gave it to my co-​worker. I had a hunch that she had never had any kind of spa treatment. Turns out, I was right.
Originally, the spa package included a facial and massage that was to last two hours. My co-​worker was having her hair done the day before (i.e., scheduled long in advance) and was very worried that the facial would cause her hair to «fall and go flat.» Basically, her hair would remain «flat» until her next hair appointment in two weeks. She asked if she could switch the facial with the another service and they kindly and quickly agreed. She jumped at the offer of a two hour body wrap and massage.
My co-​worker has raved non-​stop about her experience since receiving the services. She loved every minute of it! This was her first ever massage and she was very timid, but no more! Nope! She has informed me that she will be returning a few times a year b/​c it was just that wonderful! Everyone she encountered was professional, polite, and incredibly helpful. They all were smiling and making certain she had everything she needed in order to have an incredible experience.
We both highly recommend The Spa at Plaza Cortez! I’ll definitely be purchasing more services for people in the future.

This review is from my wife. I had given here a birthday facial and massage at this spa: This is without a doubt one of the best facials I have ever been blessed to enjoy. The massage was excellent as well. The service here is second to none. Having experienced several spas over the years that are two to three times more expensive than this jewel, I will never go anywhere else in Austin to be pampered again! Plush robes, chocolates, water, hot towels… its all part of your enjoyment at The Spa at Plaza Cortez. Enjoy ladies and thanks Don and the women of Plaza Cortez for my special day!

I like getting my eyebrows and lashes tinted, but i’ve been looking for a more affordable spa!
I dont want to pay $ 20-​$ 25 for a tint.
I came across Spa Cortez $ 12 for tinting!
Dont let the exterior scare you off it was a great experience.
It was very comfortable and professional.
My brow and lash tint was perfect and half the cost of other spas or nail salons.
I will definetely be going back to Spa at Plaza Cortez!

Best spa experience that there is — even compared to the fancy, pricey spas!!! I feel terrible because I have a good friend whose a massage therapist, but I just can’t imagine going anywhere but Plaza Cortez!!!
Some things that make them the best:
1) heated massage tables
2) hot towels for feet and neck
3) cucumber water before & bottled Dasani water after
4) excellent prices, especially when you do 2 spa experiences at once
5) plush robes/​sandals
6) Dove chocolates
7) fruit & cheese plate between spa experiences
Honestly, I’ve gone to places that charge twice a much that can’t even compare. The Spa at Plaza Cortez is the best!!!

Natalia was amazing at my facial, and I sat there between sessions thinking about how there was no way my masseuse could do as good a job. Guess what? Terry did! She rocked. They were both insanely great at what they do, and I am very pleased with their service. Between services, they give you a big fluffy robe and you go sit in this pretty room with water and some fresh fruit.
I would definitely go back to them the next time I get a massage or facial.

Went here for Jeanine P’s pre-​wedding spa day. Small group of us, which worked out well as this place is very small. However, it is extremely affordable and don’t let the location or the outside fool you… it’s actually very lovely and relaxing inside. Had a massage and a facial and felt that the service was incredible and very personalized to me. I would definitely return here for another day of relaxation. You can’t beat a little pampering every now and then… so add this place to your list as it is a diamond in the rough!
