Great late night food after dancing! I was visiting from California and I know good Mexican food. This chimichanga rivaled some I’ve had before. It looked like a family run operation and I was greeted with a smile and quick food.

I should preface this with a note that there was a different food truck in this usual spot tonight. I’ve been coming here for years, but tonight I was stunned to not receive the usually amazing service that I’ve become used to. Tonight someone cut in line and threatened to stab anyone who stopped him. I let the owner know and was surprised that they did nothing about it and still let the person order ahead of everyone after others complained as well. I’ve come to this food truck because the owner is great at handling crazy drunk people which is a real skill after the bars close, but tonight some new workers/owners were running things and I’m not happy about the way things are being run now. The food was still awesome though, so 2 stars.

Four friends and I waited in line for near an hour when two random guys walked to the front and were served by the staff and NOT sent to the back. Wasn’t really impressed with the menu items while in line and woefully disappointed with the customer service. This place has absolutely nothing going for it… nothing.

The food is very good. However, sometimes not consistant. There has been a few times where my order was incorrect. However, it never stopped me from returning. Breakfast Tacos were delicious and came with«homemade» salsa. From a business stand point this company was almost always late and never called when they were not able to show up. Very unprofessional. I am a coordinator for a local business in north Austin and tried to accomidate this food truck with a flexible schedule and emailed our company and suround corporations of their presence. Mucho Mas would chnage their time without notification and not show up on days scheduled.

So good. So, so good. The Original Mucho Mas Baja Taco Wagon is an updated version of the typical food truck you see pull up to construction sites and businesses. There is a full kitchen on board just like you would expect at a trailer. There are no pre-made, plastic wrapped, sketchy sandwiches here. Just fresh, made-to-order food from a menu which has both Mexican fare(tacos, burritos, chilaquiles, etc.) and ‘Merican(burgers, fries, sandwiches, etc.). All of it is good — I’ve had a wide variety of stuff from them and I’ve never been disappointed. In the mornings and afternoons you can typically find Jesse and his cook in North Austin, making the rounds at Harte-Hanks and then the Pecan Park business park(10800 Pecan Park, 78750). During the weekend evenings they are usually downtown, helping the party people get their burrito on. My favorites are the 5 Speed Burrito for breakfast(big as your face; the five speeds are cheese, hashbrowns, scrambled eggs, bacon, AND sausage), the Chilaquiles which can be so hot they will put you on your kiester(in a good way), and above all, his fish tacos. I’d put his Baja Fish Tacos up against anyone’s in this town. Jesse, the owner, is a friendly guy who is always happy to have a conversation about food. He really cares about the product he puts out and the quality of his ingredients. He frequently adds daily specials to keep things fresh and updated, so there is little chance of getting board. No, they are not doing cutting-edge trailer fusion, so don’t expect to get a kimchi and bulgogi burger breakfast burrito on a gluten free mushu pancake. Just expect to be very, pleasantly surprised.
