The Little Gym of Austin at Lakeline

We have been attending The Little Gym now for almost 2 years now and have grown to love it even more than when we started! I had to bump up the rating because TLG is just part of our lives now and we just adore the place. Here’s why:
1. The staff is amazing! My daughter loves going because she loves her teachers. She thinks of them as her friends and is always so happy when we go to her classes. The teachers really care about the kids and make them feel special. They work really hard to help the kids learn the skills and just make the classes so much fun. They are all just great!
2. Miss Andi, the gym director, really goes above and beyond when it comes to this location. She knows every kid’s name and greets them upon arrival every day. She also remembers details about every child and always will talk with them about whatever they want, given she’s not teaching a class. She also has all the answers to any questions the kid or parents may have. She is truly the heart and soul of this location. Andi a gem!
3. The class structure is so much fun. Currently, my daughter is in the gymnastics class. Every class has a different theme to keep it exciting. So not only are they doing gymnastics training, they also incorporate different learning skills for education, personal growth, and imagination. Sometimes the kids are super heroes or firemen or airplanes or even butterflies. It keeps the kids engaged and enjoying their classes.
4. They do fun extra activities throughout the year. We have attended fun parties with Santa, Legos, and Halloween, just to name a few. All of these parties are included in your membership, so it’s a fun freebie. They usually have something special every other month or so and they are quite fun.
5. They have a parents night out program as well. Every other Friday, for $ 30 you can drop your kid off from 6−10pm. They watch them, play games, watch a movie, have pizza, and just play for 4 hours. It’s a great deal!
6. The birthday parties here are a blast. My daughter had a party here when she turned 3 and it was fantastic! We have also attended a couple of other parties for her friends, and they were all amazing as well. It’s a great place for a kid’s party for sure.
We love the Little Gym and I would recommend this place to anyone with kids. It’s a great place for the kid’s to socialize with their peers, as well as burn off some of that crazy energy they all have. If you haven’t been yet, get over there now! :)

It’s brightly lit, clean and not cluttered. I like how no shoes are allowed (be sure to bring socks — bare feet are not allowed). There are a lot of different items to play on and I appreciated the seating for adults. They also have a table/​chair areas or eating. If you forget socks they sell them for $ 1.50.
Negative: the toys at the entrance. Within two hours I saw one family have to leave right after getting there (it was their first time there) and paying because they wanted toys. A friend’s child did the same after being there a while and they had to leave.
Thankfully my toddler doesn’t do that because if he did, we wouldn’t go back. It’s just too expensive to play there only to have to leave due to the toys for sale.

This business took down a photo I posted that I had taken inside the business of kids in a play date we were a part of because they claim it wasn’t taken at the business. Weird. A shame too since the photo was a good one of the business and had several «likes.» Whatever.

We had our son’s 4^th birthday party here and it was the best one I’ve ever been to. They did a wonderful job of making him feel special and making sure all of the kids had an amazing time.

I think the new owners, Jamie & Gina Gnewikow, were sent straight from the heavens above. I am pretty sure Jamie has real sunshine rays bursting from his heart as his warm, welcoming energy is evident the moment he greets you at the door.
The incredible coaches working with the children are fun, patient, funny. kind, and caring. I have witnessed nothing but happy kids and staff at this location and truly believe any child could benefit socially, physically, and emotionally from the classes offered. They have a range of activities/​lessons and certainly have no problem holding the kids’ attention for the duration of the class. This place ROCKS!

The facility was very nice and people were great. We liked the free play time in the class. The other sections of the class were instructor/​parent led: if you want to teach your kid how to do things the «right» way and don’t mind being instructed to move your child into different poses quickly (without asking their permission) and expect them to do certain tasks, (ex: count to ten) this is a class for you. We are on a different parenting path so it didn’t fit for us, just wanted to write a review that would’ve helped me decide if this place is a good fit.

We just had my sons 2^nd Birthday Party at The Little Gym, and it was great! The party hostesses are on it, helping with setup/​cleanup/​serving food and cake, having great attitudes and incredibly energetic throughout the entire 1 ½ hours. They kept the kids engaged and even initiated holding a baby or two when they saw a need. My sons party was a transportation theme and they had activities geared toward cars and planes, etc, it was great!
They definitely keep to the 1 ½ hours pretty strictly, but that was understandable to me, so know that ahead of time and don’t expect an exception because of this and that. Definitely recommend having a party here!

We celebrated our son 2 year birthday last Saturday and he had a blast with all his friends ., the staff over there are awesome ., they had a lot of fun activities for all the kids., i would recommend this place for my friends.

I was happy with the camp my daughter did here. it was for 3 hours and she just loved it. the place is clean and organized. its a mix between fun and structure, which was perfect for my 4 year old. would recommend it.

Do not recommend for birthday parties for children under the age of 3. A large amount of rules which is a good thing, but 2 year olds are not able to follow the «so called rules» and were scared of the mechanics, yes these are all children that had been socialized in previous situations as this. Easy parking.

We just had my 3-​year old daughters birthday party at The Little Gym at Lakeline. We booked in advance and there were very good about answering all of our questions about the event and our requests. I can say they do all of the parent-​coaching in advance so we knew exactly what was going to happen. This is important because once the event begins they are 100% child-​focused. For 2 hours they focused on safety and fun including all children (we had 20) not only on the games in the gym but also on the food, cake, drinks, presents, cleanup, etc. It was so hassle free for us that we were really able to focus on the birthday girl and talk to the other parents. I would have my event there again in a heartbeat. We are now checking into their weekly classes as the space is significantly larger than our last baby gym and she really enjoyed the various gym stations.
The place is great but the people working there were focused on the kids which made all the difference.

My daughter, who just turned 4, has been attending The Little Gym at Lakeline since she was 2. We started in a parent and tot class, led by Ms. Leah (who is now at the Round Rock location), and we both loved the activities the 45 minute class provided, the superb instruction, and the chance for socialization.
When my daughter turned 3, she «graduated up» into a one hour class where the children participate independently from their caregivers. It took some adjustment for her to separate from me, even though I was still watching through a window. The instructors were very patient with all the children who were making that big transition, and allowed caregivers to sit to the side in the gym to provide comfort.
My daughter is now enrolled in the Dance/​Gymnastics class with Ms. Christina and Ms. Michelle. She has a few classmates who we’ve known since the parent/​tot class. Again, the instructors are awesome! They provide constant positive encouragement, seem to have endless energy (amazingly!) and ALWAYS have smiles on their faces. They seem to genuinely enjoy what they do. My daughter LOVES attending, and I LOVE to see the progress she has made over the course of the couple of years we’ve been going. Her confidence has blossomed, and she enjoys practicing what she’s learned at home (and even remembers the names of moves).
Before making the decision to enroll my daughter in The Little Gym, we did a trial at an area Gymboree. The location was dark, the class was a lot less physical than The Little Gym (I will give them that they were training a new teacher that day and they offered another free trial), and I was a lot less impressed with the process. I went in liking the idea of what seemed to be a stress on incorporating some academic learning, and was happy that they offered «open gym» time (which The Little Gym does not), but in the end was much more pleased with the level of physical activity and energy of instructors at The Little Gym.
I have encouraged all of my friends to check The Little Gym out! We love it and hope to keep going at least until my daughter is in school 5 days a week, and perhaps beyond!

My son started at the Little Gym when he was about 3 ½. Here are the reasons why my son has had so much fun and flourished in their care, and why I’m so impressed with that business:
1) Classes: first of all, you should know that I’m a teacher and I can’t help but be very observant of other teachers especially when it comes to my own child. The Little Gym is not a place that your child runs wild among fun gym toys with a few «babysitters» around. They have a well thought out lesson plan for the whole term, appropriate to the developmental age of each particular group. Within this plan, each month has a particular theme. Within this theme each class session is carefully divided up in thirds: the first part builds the group confidence and sense of team work and whatever cognitive aspect the teachers are working on (teachers lead the whole group into different activities). In the second part the kids go into separate groupings and work out the different physical skills with the gym equipment. The 3^rd part is free play. At some point one of the teachers will come out to the room where the parents are sitting observing the class through glass windows — she/​he will explain what they focused on and tell the parents what they can do to reinforce the concept at home.
2) Teacher training: I don’t know this for a fact, but from my own observation it looks like these teachers get training and feedback on a regular basis. I have seen new teachers come in and grow in confidence and ability in a rate that wouldn’t be possible without adequate training or constructive feedback. Teachers that have been there longer are absolutely amazing in handling a group of wiggly energetic kids — they really understand about not having a quiet child be left out while another is loudly asking for attention — that’s quite the skill!
3) Birthday parties: BY FAR the best place for the buck — you are not only paying for the renting of the space, like most places, you are also getting the TEACHERS with all the fun and games that they can offer. IT IS QUITE THE BLAST!
4) Summer camp: again wonderful, fun educational, thought out summer camps. In addition to that, as I was working all day long and could not pick up my son, the staff was kind enough to walk him to a near by drop-​in day care, after each camp was over, free of charge! My son looked forward all summer long to his camp day!
5) Parents night out: again it’s not just mindless babysitting, they have meaningful activities, the kids look forward playing with the equipment as well as with the teachers.
6) The owner: way back then I did have a major issue with them, but the owner took her time to thoroughly listen to my concerns and made any changes necessary. She didn’t take me for granted. She showed a great amount of care for her costumers, parents and kids, just the way I think a business about kids should be run, or any other for that matter. Otherwise my son and I would have never experienced what a great place the Little Gym is.
7) Price: yes I know it’s up there, but in this case you get what you paid for and it’s totally worth it.
My son and I HIGHLY recommend The Little Gym at Lakeline.

My son (15 months) has been taking classes at The Little Gym for about a month now and we love it. I have been really impressed with both the teachers and teaching style/​philosophy. The lessons focus on developing coordination, strength, mental development and interpersonal communication/​interaction. They use music, games, baby signs and physical activities during class. It is a fun class for both child and parent. I am amazed at how much coordination my son has learned in such a short time. It is also a great place for active children to burn off some extra energy! Our teacher Christina is awesome. She is so positive and sweet with all of the children. The staff at The Little Gym is great at making you feel important because they remember everyone’s name & face. I have been super impressed with the business as a whole.
Tuition is a little pricey, but they have several payment plans that make it more affordable. They also have free Explore More times for Parent/​Child classes — it is basically like an extra class (soon to be two) per week. So if you go to all three times per week it is a much better deal!

As a mom with a preemie, The Little Gym has been an answer to prayer for us for many reasons…
One, I can tell a major difference in the speed of Noah’s motor development since we started going to the Little Gym. He went from being wobbly sitting up by himself to army crawling within a few weeks.
Two, it was a great outlet for me to connect with other moms and gave me great ideas of activities Noah and I could do at home. We both love the social interaction!
The staff is incredible, and we look forward to going to The Little Gym every week.
Sure, it might be something you have to work in the budget, but to me and every parent I know who goes, it’s worth it.

We signed my daughter up at Little Gym after our local Gymboree moved unfortunately this wasn’t the best decision. Although my daughter really enjoyed her class the cost is excessive and more importantly they are horribly pushy about signing up.
We paid in advance for two months however, my daughter missed two classes which they allow «make-​up» classes but I was told she couldn’t have those make-​up classes unless we «re-​signed» for the coming month. After receiving two phone calls in one day trying to «re-​sign» us (never ever had this happen with Gymboree) – I think we will find somewhere else to walk the balance beam and hang on bars.

My son adores his time at Little Gym. He asks every morning if we get to go that day. The classes are even fun for me! The instructors are all very friendly and enthusiastic, making it a great learning environment. Yes, it’s a little pricey, but the results are priceless.

We been going to the Little Gym for years, and there really isn’t a program they offer that I can’t recommend. There are a few that stand out, though. The «Parents Survival Night» is an excellent resource to drop your kids off on a friday night for 4 hours to go catch a movie or get some dinner and reconnect with your spouse, or find a new one :)
Their summer camps are also great, and while there may be some cheaper programs if you look hard enough, the LIttle Gym is competetive with comparable camps and their facilities are better than most. Plus if you go the cheap route, the camps are usually overcrowded and the staff isn’t very well trained, I’ve discovered.
I can also suggest Little Gym for birthday parties, we’ve been to quite a few of them here and they are always well done, private and entertaining. My 7 year old still enjoys it every time he goes, not sure when he will get too old for it, but I’m thinking he still has a few years left.
The Little Gym is not a full service gymnasium, they don’t have trampolines, rings, climbing ropes and some of the other stuff that actual gymnasts train on, but that’s not what this place is for. Its to introduce your little ones to gymnastics, give them a place to expend some energy, and enjoy a well trained staff and excellent facilities.

I wanted to get my daughter used to being out with other children and have some time to use up extra energy so I did an on-​line search and found The Little Gym.
I checked out their webpage and you could sign up for a free trial class. I signed up for a class and started searching for gym fees in case we liked it– they hide the fees well on the web page.
We went to the free class and it was pretty much what I expected. A lot of little munchkins and moms (a few dads, caregivers and a grandma too). The gals that were working there were very friendly and did a good job running the class. They were very good with the group of kids below 19 month old. My daughter did like the class. She did a good job socializing (she is usually very shy).
The reason I gave the Little Gym only 2 stars was the price! As soon as the class was over they gave us the fees for more classes. You can make a one time payment or break it up into two payments. There is a yearly $ 40. membership fee also thrown in the bill.
There are only 8 classes left in this Spring/​summer session. When I broke down the payments into sessions it came out to $ 21. and change per session! Maybe it’s just me, but that seems crazy-​expensive. (each class lasts 45 minutes).
I did an on-​line search and found much better priced classes at the local community center and the local YMCA.

My friend organized a birthday party for her son in this location. We all liked it. They also provided gym classes for toddlers too during regular hours.
They have balance beam, horizontal bars, uneven bars and etc.
The place is not for infants and teenagers, but good for 2 – 7 years old.
