History
Established in 1982.
For 31 years our staff of professional, certified childbirth and parenting educators has taught over 24,000 expectant couples in teaching settings in hospitals, medical clinics, and physicians’ offices in the Greater Austin Area.
Our organization was founded by and continues to be managed by Nola Cottom, RNC, M.S.N., CNS, LCCE, FACCE.
Nola is a faculty member at The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing; has her Master’s Degree in Maternal/Child Health Nursing; and is a Lamaze-Certified Childbirth Educator, a Fellow of the American College of Childbirth Educators, a Clinical Nurse Specialist, and an American Heart Association-Certified Infant/Pediatric/Adult Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Instructor.
«The Childbearing Years» has provided professional, top-rated, highly credentialed educators and teaching materials for the Prenatal Education Program at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center since the hospital opened some 16 years ago.
