History
Established in 2000.
The idea of The Arabic Bazaar began many years ago when Zein Al-Jundi, owner of our business lived in Syria and, even as a teenager, loved going to the Souq (Arabic Bazaar) to simply walk around and take in all the colors, textures, scents and sounds of one of the most vibrant places one can exist in. Many years later when Ms. Al-Jundi began producing her live music shows in Austin, she wanted to complete the Arabic atmosphere of the events by creating a small replica of one of her many loves of the Arab World, thus a market place that she called The Arabic Bazaar. That idea was elaborated on when, independent of the shows, she held the first Christmas Arabic Bazaar in Dec of 2000 @ Marrakech restaurant… many asked on that day if The Arabic Bazaar was located in Austin and the seed of a full time store was planted. Six months later, we took over the space we now occupy on 51st & Duval ST and in Aug of 2001, The Arabic Bazaar opened its doors full time.
