Texas Tree Tamers

We called Tree Tamers on the recommendation of picky neighbors, because we wanted pros to trim our trees. After nurturing these trees for over ten years, we didn’t want them butchered by a random yard guy.
The first appointment went fairly well; a salesman (a different one than any of the other reviewers have mentioned) came out and went through our yard, discussing what would need to be done with each of our trees. We wanted the canopies raised and to have them trimmed for shape and for their health. There were some trees he recommended waiting a month to trim. He gave us a quote for each phase of the work and we set a date for the first phase. The quote for the first phase seemed a little high to me, but I decided to go with it since these guys are supposed to be specialists.
When the salesman returned two days later with the two-​man crew, he seemed to have a nearly complete case of amnesia. I had to remind him of everything we discussed, and then he left the crew to do the work. I can understand if it was two weeks, but two days later? I was a little nervous.
Thankfully, the crew did a decent job. They were done a lot more quickly than anticipated, leaving the trees that the salesman had told me would be trimmed the following month. I heard them discussing in Spanish that it was an easy job, and I was thinking that I was probably right about the bid being a little high. They cleaned up and hauled everything away, and I paid the salesman when he returned later. I tried to schedule the follow-​up to trim the other trees, but he said to give the office a call in a couple of weeks.
I’d love to give Tree Tamers four stars, but I could never get them to return to trim the other trees. I left at least five phone messages and finally got a call back from the owner, who said someone had missed my messages, that she’d fit me into the schedule the following week, and would call back to let me know what day. When I didn’t hear back, I left two more phone messages, and then filled out their internet form, explaining again that we needed them to come finish trimming the rest of the trees.
No reply.
I could sit here two months later and wonder why Tree Tamers wouldn’t come back to trim my remaining six trees, but I would only be guessing. Maybe the owner thought the bid was too low? Maybe they’re too busy to make it worth it? Who knows? At any rate, it’s too late, and I’m going to call someone else next year. And I think three stars is generous. I’m just rounding up from 2−½.

Trimmed 3 trees and raised the canopies on them. They were well priced and great to work with!

I hired these guys because my neighbor had already hired them to cut the tree branches that were close to his roof. We had them come by and give us a quote. Their original quote was about the same as every other tree company, but after a few days, when we didn’t call them, I got an email saying that they would take $ 50 off of their price. So we called them. They had already finished our neighbors house and did a good job. The guys showed up, trimmed the trees, cleaned the debris off of the roof and took away all the branches. We were very happy.

Everything was so going perfectly until they showed up! The price was very reasonable and they responded promptly. And the man who did they initial quote was friendly and thorough. My one complaint is this, the crew that showed up to home to perform the service spoke a handful of words in English! One of the men asked me in fragmented English what service I wanted performed. I explained it and he looked so nonplussed. I gave him the paper with the overview detailing the specifics, and he looked at it with NO recognition. Now, I don’t care if people don’t want to learn English, UNLESS I am paying them a grand to trim my trees. Then I want them to completely understand me and be able to communicate. Then some lady showed up, who did speak English. She was rude and just told me the amount I owed. NO RECEIPT. She’s lucky I remembered the dollar amount. She left and when they were done the non English speaking crew leader came and asked me for payment. With few words and some hand motions. I asked how much I owed to clarify. No recognizable response lol. So I just wrote what the lady had briefly mentioned «it would be about $ 964.» Which I guess was right because they didn’t complain. The service itself was not bad at all. A definite improvement. But the experience was a hassle. Please provide at least one English speaker, what if I had had a problem with something they were doing or wanted to change the service? Unacceptable.

Wow. you are an Angies List Awardee. Sorry but I do not see it. These guys finally came out after giving me the run around. I almost told them not to bother because I had sent them pictures of the tree I had questions with and wanted and arborist to call me. I finally got a guy who called me and came out 3 weeks later.
I saw their ad in a local magazine that gets mailed to my house with coupons. When the guy came out, he tells me, «We are an hour and a half from your house.» Gee, how slow are you driving? I can get to NW Austin in 45 minutes. He made me feel like I was wasting his time because he had to drive out so far. He had visited another guy in Buda and was going to give me a «big» discount if he signed on with them. Excuse me, I do not think a discount should be based on whether or not someone else hires you. My tree is only about 20 feet tall. You can get 2 guys out and get it taken down in no time. He quotes me a price over $ 600 for a tree removal. I really do not see paying $ 600 to remove a tree I paid $ 15 for, even if its dead.
If you are going to run ads in Magazine, make sure you service that area. Do not make me feel like I am wasting your your time for you to come and service my area. The guy that came out was nice. He was a little on the curt side. Secondly, I am not sure what kind of phone system they have at the office but they need to dump it. If you call after hours or get their machine, its a crap shoot if you get a call back or if you do get a call back and need a follow up call, getting them to call you back.
I am not really sure how you even got the Angie’s list award. Apparently people like your service. I just did not see any rave service here.

We were incredibly pleased with the service that Texas Tree Tamers provided to us. We found them on Angie’s List and used their $ 60 off deal. Lloyd was an absolute pleasure to deal with! He came out and talked to us for quite a while and looked around our property. We found him to be knowledgeable and friendly. On the day of our service, he showed up several times, even helping out the tree trimmers and went the extra mile to put our wood chips in our back yard, bring in our trash can and put our wheel barrow back in the garage.
I would completely recommend this service, it was some of the best service from any service company we have ever received — thank you so much!

Great service, great prices! Texas Tree Tamers is awesome! They did a great job on all of our trees. We live in Lakeway, so Oakwilt is a major issue and they actually have an Oakwilt specialist/​Arborist on staff that comes out with the crew to ensure that everything is done for the health of the trees. Finally someone professional and knowledgable in the business! And the prices were very reasonable. Dale is great, the crew is great, highly recommend this company. They do landscape lighting too!

Grooming a couple of relatively young oak trees in our front yard was much overdo so I started looking for a local tree service for the job. From my first conversation with Dale through the completion of the job, this company’s commitment to good work was apparent.
While at the property to provide an estimate for this job, Dale spotted ball moss and dead wood that needed to be removed from a much older oak tree in the backyard so we included that in the initial estimate. The price was reasonable and all the trees look great. It feels a little silly to be this giddy over a tree trimming. My front yard, however, had two oak trees that were overgrown and resembled something closer Chia Pets than oak trees. Today, there are a couple of fantastic trees out front and you can actually see the sun filter through the branches. They’re beautiful.
I also can’t say enough how easy it was to work with Dale and his team. We discussed filling a wound in the old oak tree and removing a giant cedar tree from the backyard as follow up jobs. In the end, we felt so confident about Texas Tree Tamers we added removing the cedar tree to the first work order. It drooped over the back fence so I thought for sure some piece of the fence would end up being a casualty. The team was so careful about every branch that fell and the eventual topping of the trunk. Turns out there were rotted voids throughout the trunk. It certainly would have eventually fallen and taken *at least* the back fence with it. We’re very happy to have found a tree service we trusted so we were confident enough to get that job done sooner rather than later.

We called Dale and he came over in less than 10 minutes and then was back the next day with a crew to clean out our backyard. In addition to being incredibly responsive and fast, they were reasonably priced and did a fantastic job clearing out our prickly yucca, shaping the oaks, cutting down the cedars, pruning. We’re getting estimates now for some planting because they did such a good job. I don’t recognize my backyard right now and that is a very good thing! Awesome job!

Great job by Dale and his team. We recently bought a house with several oaks that have not been maintained in over 15 years. The trees were covered in ball moss and had several bad cuts from previous owner.
Dale came out and gave a free estimate and had his team working 3 days later. Dales team worked hard for 2 days and removed 99% of moss and pruned all 15 big trees of dead limbs and overgrowth. They also removed some cedars that were in crouching on other trees. I will use TREE TAMERS in the Spring for some additional jobs.

These folks took down our large 40 year-​old ash in a day, with no damage to our property. The climber/​cutter was conscientious about his own safety, which I found reassuring.
One particularly difficult section required roping to their truck and putting some tension on the branch to make it fall properly. It worked.
Toss in the stump grinding of a 45″ diameter tree, and we’re quite pleased with their work. Their bid was realistic, and the work was performed well.
PS: 4 stars is now my highest rating, with 5 reserved for the miraculous.
