The Texas Ophthalmological Association is a non-profit organization founded in 1956 to promote and advance the science and art of medical eye care.
Current membership is approximately 800 physicians.
TOA was named a «Model State Society» by the American Academy of Ophthalmology 5 times and received the Academy’s «Special Recognition Award» in twice for political action and public affairs work, respectively.
TOA provides continuing medical education programs to members.
TOA provides representation to various legislative, regulatory, and associative bodies, including:

Established in 1956.
TOA was established in 1956 to promote and advance the science and art of medical eye care; to encourage the study of relationships of the specialty of ophthalmology to other branches of medicine; and to encourage the study of social and economic problems peculiar to the field of eye care.

Manager
Michael is the Executive Director of TOA. He has been with TOA since 1996 and became Executive Director in 2001.
