When I came here for breakfast I asked for a second serving of the refried beans, they were SOO good! I’m used to leaving the typical breakfast place feeling uncomfortably full so the reasonable portions were bittersweet.

Nice place, larger restaurant style setup with a full menu. I had 2 tacos steak fajita &2 tacos pastor. Pretty much the standard yum level of Mexican food; not mind blowing but satisfying and very good tasting. Didn’t give 5 stars because only places like El Paisa get that level rating. But, the food was delicious here, great in a pinch. The place was clean and super friendly and attentive staff, even at 1130pm! By the way, the chips and salsa are very good. Will def be going back for more.

This place is really great for breakfast, and super low prices. The tacos are inexpensive and wonderful, I didn’t particularly care for the menudo but tortas gorditas and tacos are definitely good here.

3 stars if you come here for dinner. 4 stars if you come here for breakfast. The breakfast plates and tacos are definitely a bang for your buck! I mean 3 tacos for $ 3.75? yes please! The tortillas don’t seem particularly homemade and the machacado was a little too beef-jerky in texture, but for the price point, I really can’t complain. The enchiladas were a little bit of a miss. For $ 7.50, that is only marginally cheaper than any other Tex-Mex place on S.1st that does it better. Enchilada sauce tasted straight out of a can, tortillas were chewy and rice was not flavorful. I think you would have a much better bet ordering something more authentic, like the carne guisada or caldo de res. I like this little spot but will only be here for breakfast from now on. Note: Margarita machine was switched off Sunday around 6pm

For 6.95 I got 5 filling mini tacos. Fast service, cheap food and totally worth your time as long as you are not expecting something fancy. Looking forward to my next visit and trying out the rest of the menu.

Tex Mex done right! I have visited Taqueria Arandas on occasion when in South Austin and this is some seriously good Tex Mex food. Their breakfasts are just like my mom makes, really, and being a Hispanic Texas boy – born and raised – I am confident that I know my tacos! The flavor is amazing. Good menu selection, and super cheap prices, but you get a lot for what you pay. The service is great, with a waitstaff that is friendly and attentive, but never overbearing. And fast! They have been doing this for a while and it shows all around. If you want a great Tex Mex breakfast and the best tacos around, this is your place. Highly recommended!

I didn’t throw up… like I did after El Rico(and I’d never thrown up more after getting food poisoning). I’ve eaten a number of types of Mexican foods. For me, this is about the worst Mexican food I’ve eaten, in my entire 50+ years of life. First, no English, apparently. But more importantly, very greasy. Plus the tortillas used for the enchiladas seemed old, like at least a few days old, dried up around the edges… The service was adequate albeit not particularly friendly. I will never ever consider going back to this place. For authentic Mexican, Jalisco or El Regio on Wm. Cannon. A I was walking to my car, I was thinking, note to self… I’d rather eat anywhere else than here, going forward. …and I LOVE authentic Mexican food.

Ordered to go, tortillas both flour and corn are straight from the package. We ordered huevos Ranchero and asked for our eggs over medium and they came out over hard, no run to the yolk at all which was very disappointing. Ordered a side of rice and it had absolutely no flavor. The best thing out of the entrée was the actual Ranchero sauce. Will not be going back.

This is my favorite Tex-Mex joint in Austin. It is also the best of the 5 Arandas locations. My favorites are the fajita beef tacos and their cheese(or chicken) enchiladas with verde sauce. These are some of the best tacos and enchiladas I’ve had. The price is obviously great and this location is the nicest with big wooden tables. I’ve been to the original location on E 7th many times and the other 3 locations as well but the food for some reason is much better at this location on S. 1st. They stay open pretty late but we always call to make sure they are still open because sometimes they seem to close early.

Best damn crispy chicken tacos in Austin. I like it simple sometimes and this place does it perfectly. The chicken has a great roasted flavor and is juicy. The ladies are always really nice even when I try to order in Spanish for practice(hope I’m not too terrible). Huge bonus: Price tag! Lunch for 2 people with a drink around $ 14 with chips and salsa!

Came in here this morning for some breakfast tacos… Meh… The good: We were able to sit down right away They brought our first chips and salsa quickly The owner /manager was friendly The final price The Meh…: The service was slow — took quite a while to get a refill on chips and salsa The breakfast tacos. We had a bacon, egg, and cheese, and it was basically slightly over cooked eggs(a little brown), with a strip of bacon on top, and shredded cheese on top of that(not cold, but still clearly in shredded form). It’s obvious that breakfast tacos are NOT their specialty. I also had an egg and beans taco, which was OK. The service was slow — took almost 10 minutes to get our check after asking for it. With SO many mexican options in Austin, I probably won’t be back.

I recently stopped in the Taqueria Arandas 5 for my first time. Even though I’ve lived just up the street from this place I had never been but there always seemed to be a steady flow of customers so I assumed it was a solid choice. Having now been there and tried it I would rate them as ‘fair’ but not much more. The food is decently priced and is the typical cuisine you would expect from your average Mexican food joint. The service was good, and the food that we had was alright, just nothing to write home about. If you’re in the neighborhood and are looking for great Mexican food, you might look elsewhere, but for the price, I suppose this would be an option if you’re on a budget.

The food is almost EXACTLY like it is at the other location(stassney) that I go to at least once a week. I thought for sure there would be some differences, but if I had closed my eyes I would have thought I was right back on Stassney. Good service, great food, and this building is really open and nicely decorated. It was a nice change of pace, but I’m glad I didn’t have to give up the great taste I love so much! You can’t beat this food as far as I’m concerned… amazing salsa, homemade chips, and a pork taco that makes me wish I’d known about them all my life.

$ 3.25 got me three fluffy savory scrambled eggs with bell pepper and chilli, delicious refried beans, home fries and 3 tortillas. Menudo needs way MORE chili(menudo should not be pink) having said that it was still good and I finished the bowl THEVIBE — Lots of OAs(original Austinites) from the neighborhood here… old Mexican American families that despite the rising taxes and influx of new people seem to be staying put and keeping 78704 old school. It was kind of cool and comforting to be amongst them listening to them greet each other in Spanish and English… old and young. I have to say that this is what makes South Austin so awesome the merge of the different food and cultures… THEFINALSAY — Good standard Mexican American food with lots of personal service

Shit, guys. Why have I lived next to here for this long and never been here before? We got SOMUCHFOOD for $ 14 and I’m legit about to have the last of the leftovers tonight for dinner… one full week later. I love the chips, but they’re obviously from a bag so I’m not sure where they get off on charging extra for more than one small basket, but at least the surcharge keeps me from gorging myself on empty carbs before I get the chance to gorge myself on fatty meat, fatty beans, and fatty cheese. Fatty. The food was delicious, but proceed with caution if you get chicken because I found a tiny bone in my pile of meat. Just big enough that I probably would’ve swallowed it sideways if I hadn’t happened to slow down my unbridled gluttony for like half a second. And because there are no signs inside telling you what to do, pick a seat and someone will bring you menus and chips. If you walk up and grab your own chips because there’s not an employee in sight, the guys in the kitchen will stare at you with a strange expression on their faces for most of the time you’re there. Next time I go, I plan on getting down on that al pastor because the pictures on here are making my mouth water. 99c surcharge if your food is ordered to-go.
