What keeps me coming back is their late hours and their pricing. I recommend the mango milk tea, black tea, and their regular milk tea. I love their mango star jelly too :) Their drinks aren’t always consistent though… It depends on who’s making it. Sometimes their mango milk tea is way too syrupy and sweet bleh. Their boba is not as good as Coco’s or KF tea. Their black tea is refreshing and not too sweet and way better than Coco’s black tea! Another bonus now: no minimum for cards!

I come here a lot. Probably at least once a week(during school). I usually opt for a milk tea with large tap and no ice and the price is around 3 dollars. The milk tea has a really great flavor and creamy taste, unlike Coco’s which I find to be thin and too watery. Their boba is usually really good(sometimes, I can tell that they haven’t soaked them long enough in sugar water and the boba have no taste). They’re open late(till 12AM), but I tend to try to go before 10:30PM. Afterwards, it’s a huge gamble whether or not they have run out for the day. It seems like they portion out how much milk tea/boba they make everyday because sometimes they’ll run out of milk tea at 10PM and not have it for the rest of the night. Since this semester, there have been several times there they ran out of boba(big and small), milk tea(but not flavored milk tea like vanilla or caramel milk tea), food(all plates except for snacks), and large cups. However, I still keep coming back! The price is a little cheaper than Coco’s(enough to make a difference to me) and the food is solid(I always order the crispy chicken nuggets(level 3 spicy)). I love how when you get a boba with your order, they reduce the price of a regular milk tea to 1 dollar. The food comes with rice, a tea egg(so good!), green beans, and cooked bean sprouts.

Tried this place with a few friends the other night. They were out of everything. They were out of everything. They were out of Taro flavor drinks and regular boba when we ordered and had also run out of small boba by the time we left. The worse part is they have a sign that they turn around when they run out of boba so this apparently happens often. I ordered the thai tea with star mango jelly. The thai tea could have been alot sweeter but that’s just my personal opinion. The mango jelly was very good though. I’ll have to come back when they have boba.

Good selection of boba milk tea drinks and a little bit cheaper than the place two doors down. They also have some good Taiwanese food, one of my personal favorite being the fried pork chop over rice – it reminds me of Taiwanese bentos!

Come here for the food, not the drinks. My first time here I ordered a strawberry banana smoothie with boba. Explain to me why I saw the person making the drink pull out STRAWBERRYNESQUICK to make my drink. So the drink was very… gross. Second time here, my friend ordered a honeydew milk tea. It tasted like sour skittles. The food here however is pretty good; the calamari and rice plates are pretty good for a light lunch or quick snack.

This review is for Tapioca House’s boba milk tea and boba milk tea alone. My coworker saw me sippin’ away on Tea Haus one day and suggested that I give Tapioca House a shot. «What is Tapioca House? You mean Coco’s?» No, not Coco’s. Turns out that Tapioca House is just two doors down from Coco’s on The Drag, but I just never knew it existed until recently! There is no sign, and it’s located in this little crook right in between Chase and the Phở place. While I haven’t tried their food and Tea Haus still definitely delivers my favorite boba milk tea, I’ve found myself walking over for Tapioca House’s ¼ sweet boba milk tea at least weekly when I have a hankering.

Food is okay. I like the Houston better, but it’s a good craving pleaser if I can find parking to get to it. It’s horrendous that I have to drive around to find parking to just get to thiS. I will never go here again… would rather drive to Houston. GETCURBSIDESERVICEORSOMETHING!

First time visiting Austin, TX and was recommended to stop by this place after the UT football game for some grub. Our group of 9 called the restaurant and was informed the kitchen closes at 11:45PM. We get to the restaurant by 11:00PM and wait in line to order. 6 out of 9 people get their orders in, it is now 11:25PM. As our 7th person is ordering, the employee in the back whispers to the cashier that the kitchen is closed, and that he would be the last food order. There were still multiple people in line, and we had been waiting since 11:00PM. 2 of our friends did not get to order food, even though we all entered the restaurant at 11:00PM. Had we have known that not everyone would get food, we would have gone to another establishment. We ended up sharing our food with our 2 remaining friends, as they were starving as much as we were. At 11:55PM, while we’re trying to scarf down our meals, the restaurant turns the lights off on us. WHILEWE’REEATING! WHODOESTHAT?! We finish up and are out of their restaurant by 11:58, we express our distaste to the employees, and her excuse is «once the kitchen is closed, we can’t do anything». –Don’t tell us you close at 11:45PM and then close at 11:30PM –At least inform people that have been WAITINGINLINE since 11:00PM that they might not get their food, don’t just cut it off when they get to their register! –Don’t turn the lights off on your customers 5-minutes before the store closes while we still have food in our mouths. I’ve only written a total of 4 Unilocal reviews in my entire life, all 5-stars. This kind of ridiculous behavior warrants my coming out of the woodwork to put them on blast and onto my official ban list. I am never stepping foot into establishment again. It is a disgrace to Tapioca restaurants around the world.

To be honest, even though I can’t really give Tap House more than two stars, I will still keep coming back whenever I get bored of Coco’s tap. First off, it’s not bad. The exterior is pretty tragic, but they did some redecoration inside, so it looks a bit better than last year. There are no outlets, though, so not really a study spot. Decent place to hang out and talk with friends, though. Service tends to be average; nothing above and beyond, but it’s run by college students so it’s very relaxed and chill. Drinks are decent. I like their simple Honey Black Tea with tap. Their green tea, though, is not very good. Very very bitter. Milk teas taste okay, but something about the texture makes it taste a little weird, so I prefer Coco’s for milk-drinks. Food is eh. Spice levels can be arbitrary, and salt doesn’t seem to be very consistent. One time I went, and for some reason, my food was ridiculously salty. The next time, it was fine. Very random. I like the House Special Fried Rice and Pork Stew with Potatoes. Honestly, no one screws up fried rice. The Crispy Chicken Nuggets(snack or meal) are decent, but very very greasy. Be prepared. Overall not a disaster, and as a bobaddict, I will be back, but I wish they could improve the ambiance, milk tea texture, and general food quality.

I went around 9pm and their earl grey milk tea was out! Never knew it was such a popular drink! I love how they do punch cards. Their drinks are on the cheaper side for boba and it doesnt taste as bad. I got the jasmine milk tea. It was more on the milkier side but still tasted great! Their tapioca was also a little on the hard side but then again, I stopped by late so they could have just made a new batch. I give it a

i used to stop by here very often bc i’m a milk tea kind of a girl– but their tapioca pearls have been too inconsistent lately. several times i went it wasn’t cooked through all the way(hard in its core) and the last time i went it was way too mushy(felt almost like i was chewing on sticky mucus!) their jasmine milk tea is always inconsistent– I feel like they need to get a thorough check with the workers on how long you should cook the tapioca and the recipe of the drinks also. their food is always way too salty for me and the level of spiciness(1 – 5) is way too inconsistent. one day the 5 would taste like a 3 and the other the 3 would taste like a 5. also they keep it too hot in their store i’m not sure if the air conditioning system is broken or they just like to keep it hot. so sad for a place w lots of potential! only positive thing i can say is that they recently renovated the place.

I understand why some people gave T-House some bad reviews, but I’m giving it a 5 because it does well what it should do well. It’s not the shiny new gourmet or fusion place. This place is a fantastic Asian food dive on the Drag. It’s cheap, simple, and spiritually true to a street bar restaurant in Asia. Some of the things on the menu are great, and totally unique to this part of town. For me, complaining about the service or the cracked seats is kinda pointless. I’m happy to pay dirt cheap prices and revel in the fact that the frat kids are skeeved out and headed elsewhere.

My partner is from southern China, and Tapioca House is exactly the place to satisfy his hankering for spicy chicken tenders and milk tea! To date, this is his favorite place in Austin for pearl drinks.

This place definitely needs a revamp for its décor, staff and food… Dirty floor, tables and seats. Seems like the AC needs to replaced(or they are not willing turn it up). Staff do not show any signs of any emotions. Unpleasant & unfriendly service. A smile or an acknowledgement would go a long way! Decent priced drinks, but mediocre food. Had the fried chicken nugget combo that comes with rice and two sides. The bean sprouts side was the only thing that tasted good. Otherwise, the chicken nuggets were way too breaded(barely any chicken in each nugget), and pork shreds on rice tasted dry and old.

Coco’s café may be the exciting new girlfriend, but Tap House will always be the first. Tap House is the first restaurant on the Drag that I’ve eaten at and is responsible for my first bubble tea. It’s nostalgic to finally review this place after first eating there 6 years ago. Yet, there’s really not much to say. Their food isn’t spectacular or fancy, but it doesn’t have to be. With restaurants coming and going on the Drag, Tap House is consistent and holds a firm stand. My entrée of choice is their Curry Chicken w/Rice. A savory texture, the chicken is always cooked just right, soaked up the curry, and the bean sprouts are full of flavor. Chop up the hard boiled egg, mix it around, and just enjoy the meal in its simplicity. Honestly, I still cannot say that I like bubble tea. But one that do absolutely enjoy is Tap House’s Hazelnut Milk Tea, and I’ll get it whenever I can. Never watery or too sweet, I’ll sip one up over an overpriced Starbucks frapp any day. The pearls are consistently soft and tasty, something not every tapioca café can boast. Is it the best chinese food on the Drag? Definitely not, head over to Coco’s. Is it the best tap drink I’ll ever have? Nope. But one thing it is is consistent and dependent. Sometimes, it’s nice to go back to where everything is just as you left it.

A to go place for quick snacks. Recommend: fried mushrooms, fried chicken nuggets, fried fish cakes. I feel like this place is a hit or miss… sometimes the fried food are delicious sometimes too much breadings. i always get to go because the dine in area is very disgusting, doesn’t seem like people that work there care that much.(They are always on the phone or laptop…) ooh the bathroom… do you want me to describe it? i guess not. save your appetite for better food.

Tapioca House is the go-to place for a cheap lunch or dinner. It even closes late so its convenient for a light meal after a night of studying. The combo meals don’t taste very good, but they do have a decent portion. I have tried the majority of the combos, and my favorite is the grilled pork chop with rice. It is cheap and it comes with bean sprouts, and a boiled egg. They even give you a green tea or black tea. The majority of the other combos are very salty and unappetizing. In addition, the workers at the front are not very good at their job. They are more concerned with playing on their computers or phone than providing good customer service. Overall, if its late at night, and you have no where else to go, Tap House is the place for you!

I love the crispy fish cakes!!! I normally get my drinks from Coco’s. I tried some lavender milk tea which my niece loves, but I’m not a fan. I haven’t tried anything else on the menu just b/c whenever I’m in the area, I hit up Veggie Heaven. $ 5 min on Credit Cards.
