Why did this location close? There are hardly any decent options for lunch in this area despite it being filled with office parks! We saw the«closing» sign but thought it was an April Fool’s joke because the closing date was April 1st. So disappointing.

I don’t have many options by my office, but I’m glad that that’s a Taco Shack nearby! The chicken fajita taco was awesome. The chicken was juicy and the hot sauce was perfect. I was not a fan of the jalapeño ranch though. Of course it couldn’t stand up to Chuy’s, but I expected it to be better than it was. I would have rather gotten the chips and salsa opposed to the chips and jalapeño ranch. But it’s good to know for next time! :)

The food is okay… nothing spectacular. I got the burrito special and I was almost scared to eat it because the meat didn’t look cooked, but it was okay.

First time, $ 6.50(con tax) for three tacos beans and rice. –Place is cool they have power sockets for computer or phone charging –Tacos were alright nothing special not a whole lot of flavor and on the small side. –Beans and rice we’re also pretty bland and flavorless. Summary: unless their enchiladas are amazing, think I’ll stick to hole in the wall Mexican restaurants And Taco Bueno.

How can you go wrong with a breakfast Taco that has a huge full thick slice of bacon in it? I am addicted! Service is always quick. Tacos are always made fresh to order.

Got the crispy taco plate for $ 6. Three good sized tacos served with rice and beans. Perfect lunch! Love the green salsa!

Three stars for the breakfast tacos and fresh salsa… but I really feel gypped every time I come here for lunch. The tacos and burritos are just pricy and pretty much meh. Started going to a taqeria around the corner, eating tastier food and am saving some serious coin.

The food at this location is just as bad as the other Taco Shack’s. There is a very loyal Austin following for this place… and I just don’t get it. Two greasy, bland soft tacos with beans and rice and a drink for $ 9. Taco Cabana, hell even Taco Bell, beat the hell out of this place.

I arrived at the drive through this morning at about 8:25, watched two cars order in front of me then the time for the cashier to take my order was minimal(2 – 3 min). I watched the two cars ahead of me get their food within 3 minutes. I was happy thinking that I hit the jackpot because I was already running late but I was crazy hungry. I pull up my car to the window, I ordered 2 tacos(the Shack Taco and the El Nino taco). I ordered the«specialty» ones thinking that they would be crazy fast because they were on the menu and«normal» tacos. 1 minute passed… no big deal… 2 minutes passed… 3 minutes passed… 4 minutes passed… I see someone walking behind the counter… 5 minutes passed… 6 minutes passed… A friendly gentleman who I’ve seen walking behind the counter tells me my total and takes my money. He says«be right back». 7 minutes passed… I start to wonder if they had to run to the store to buy the eggs for my tacos… 8 minutes passed… I look around… The guy who took my money is standing beside the register talking on the phone. 9 minutes pass… I stare… 11 minutes pass… 12 minutes pass… A new person delivers my tacos to me and I mention to her that there should be coffee with my order. She gives me a blank stare and says«coffee?». My reply«Yes, coffee». Blank stare continues and I say«I need a cup of coffee». She turns around and walks away. I continue sitting there thinking that she’s going to get my cup of coffee. I restart the countdown. 1 minute. 2 minutes. 3 minutes… 4 minutes… 5 minutes… Then the guy who took my money comes back to the window«may I help you?». «Yes, I still need the cup of coffee I ordered with my tacos». His reply«Oh, I didn’t charge you for it»(honestly, I didn’t look at my receipt to see if he did.). I say«I’d still like it. I’m happy to pay for it.» I think to myself, why didn’t I drive off a while ago? 2 minutes later my coffee arrives and it’s a $ 1.50 charge. I have to give it to them, their tacos were good. But the fact that it took 12+ minutes for tacos PLUS7 minutes for coffee is a bit ridiculous. That’s a total of 19 minutes my car was parked in their drive through at the drive through window. I’d go back again if the service was fast but I just can’t wait that long for that.

While I can’t speak for other Taco Shack joints, I can say that this place truly is amazing. The location is great, the service is always quick/friendly, and the food has always been great. My only possible complaint is the price. It’s just a little pricey, but in the end I’d say it’s worth it. In terms of recommendation, I’d say you can’t go wrong with the Burnet Road Burrito for breakfast. It’s huge and filled to the breaking point with fluffy eggs, melted cheese, a strip or two of bacon cooked just right and the potatoes, the potatoes are cooked just right. Nice and firm/crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. I’ve had many a co-worker try to recommend other places, but if you get the chance, check Taco Shack out. You won’t regret it.

Food is not so hot, and Kens Tacos are just north of Rundberg on Cameron/Duval which is way better tasting and huge volums of food. Taco’s at Kens are 2.05 and are much larger than the Taco Shack Burrito at 4.99.

Taco Shack is good for a solid breakfast burrito or some pretty good Mexican fast food later in the day. This location is pretty much like all the other taco shacks in town, except it’s never busy and it has a really convenient drive through. The food is pretty cheap and consistent. The only downside to Taco Shack is that they’re closed on Sundays.

Texas does know how to eat… Size matters here. You get your burrito with meat, bean, rice, CHEESE and salsa… for only $ 5. This is not fair to be a food critic to judge something that your tummy is happy about. Just enjoy it. It’s only $ 5 and only in Texas !!

A recent transplant to Austin, I’m new to this world of breakfast tacos. But I’m learning… This location is very close to where I live and isn’t busy at all in the mornings when I’ve been there. Service is very fast and staff is friendly. The location is a plus for me and they have a drive-thru. Food is fast. I like that the eggs aren’t runny or wet. I think it’s a good deal for 3 or 4 bucks in the morning when I haven’t made time for breakfast. The Shack Taco keeps me full most of the day and don’t even think about lunch until after 2. I do think the tacos are bland, but I like LOTS of spices when I cook. 2 kinds of salsa to choose from.

New Taco Shack location on Crosspark Dr.(just off 290 near the 183 interchange). If you’ve ever been to the Austin US Post Office Main Branch, this is right near there. This location has a drive thru which makes things extra nice for a quick morning taco on the way out of town. So. about the tacos? The breakfast tacos are consistently good from store to store and are reliably tasty. I usually opt for Bacon, Egg and Potato tacos and i like that they give you two nice strips of bacon and that the potatos are not mushed in with the eggs(like another taco shop I frequent). FWIW — they charge a little more than other taco joints(esp. for a 3 ingredient taco) so I’m only going with 3 stars on the price/performance axis.
