«Taco Bell is not real mexican food». It gets the job done for half the price, what’s not real mexican about that. And in the case of the new smothered burrito, it gets the job done handsomely. This particular taco bell was clean(looked to be recently remodeled), and not busy. One taco assembler on the line was new and didn’t know yet how to make the food, but his trainer did so while it took a few seconds longer than usual all was good.

Food was ok, I asked for Jalapenos, and I was given 3 slices ! and charged extra for them??? 3? are you kidding… ok then we asked for Verde sauce and give 2??? Then we asked for more, for three orders of food, they looked at us like we were from Mars. I mean are the employees paying for the condiments themselves…

I have a deep, long, loving history with Taco Bell. We go way back. Remember when you could get a Mexican pizza with green onions? Oh yeah. I’m an OG. This Taco Bell is pretty good. The food is always good and the restaurant is always clean! I loved the old staff a lot; they were personable, nice, and just really good people. It’s different, now, which is why I’m giving this location 3 stars. Tonight, the girl taking our order was rude. She stood at the register with an «Are you going to order or what?» look on her face, instead of asking if we were ready to order. This is becoming a thing with people lately. I might be getting old; where are their manners? I digress.(Another phrase of the Elders.) I told her my order, a steak cantina bowl, and she typed it into the keyboard and just stared at me. I looked at Husbae, because I was done with my portion of the order. As he began to answer, she kept looking at me and interrupted him by rudely saying, «Is that it?» It was a very awkward experience. The food was good. I just miss the old staff.

Why did I go here? There were only a couple people in there when I went in. I had a small family in front of me and they ordered quickly. After they ordered we walked up to the counter and the cashier disappeared for almost 5 minutes(without saying anything to us). There were at least 5 people prepping food, none of them are trained as cashiers? We finally placed our order: 3 calupas and a drink. It took almost 20 minutes to get our food. I wasn’t even going to eat there I wanted it TOGO. The food tastes fine, but it shouldn’t have taken 20 minutes, even the people in front of us were waiting for ever. No one stayed at the counter and people coming in were stuck waiting there for at least 5 minutes. One kid was standing there for almost 10 minutes waiting for someone to come forward. Absolutely terrible.

Since they reopened the quality has improved drastically, now instead of 100% certainty that the chalupa flatbread will be cold and not toasty like all the other Taco Bells in town it’s more like 50% chance that they will be good, I was so shocked when I went back and the chalupa was just perfect like the first time I had them 13 years ago in Chicago. Obviously something happened and they are under new management. Service is better too.

«It didn’t make me sick» haha, I love it! Just what you want to see in a food review. Exactly, Michelle and Michael, if you live in Austin(or honestly anywhere) then you have literally no excuse for eating at Taco Bell. With delicious taco stands on every corner at all hours of the night, the only thing sickening about it is how addicted you may become to these affordable AND deliciously authentic treats! Last night, er this morning, I found myself in my car driving to my old neighborhood haunt for some al pastor and puerco verde. I woke up smiling today, and none-the-broker! And hey, no hepatitis!

People were rude and snippy. Bean burrito was not right(seriously…). My little cherry limeade sparkler was good, sonic is better drink wise. Otherwise it was taco bell. Didn’t make me sick! :D

If anyone in Austin visits Taco Bell and orders the new«Cantina» tacos, please send in your Austin, TX citizenship card. Mine is in the mail. The carnitas«Cantina» taco was a soggy piece of crap. Seriously, just go to one of our many taquerias. And Justin, Taco Bell cashier, here’s how it works. I come up to the counter, you stop whatever you are doing and greet me with a friendly«Welcome to Taco Bell! May I take your order!» or something along those lines. What you should not do, is glance at me, say nothing, walk to the back, and when you return give me a creepy yet vacant stare while holding the cash register with both hands. That’s how people mistake you for a sociopath! Got it? OK, great. Work on those people skills, buddy. Two stars because I am forever enamored with the bean burritos + extra onions — my college drunk food of choice.

Even for Taco Bell, this place is one of the worst. The interaction with the employees is just fine. No one is rude. However, the food is terrible(yes, I know, even for Taco Bell. But if you’re reading this, you, too, eat there!). The beans are runny, the burritos are smaller than tacos should be, there is rarely any«meat» on whatever you order, the nacho sauce is always less than half filled, they get your order wrong every time … etc, etc, etc. This is a Taco Bell location to avoid.

I’m fairly positive that my boyfriend and I both got salmonella from this location during the great tomato scare of 2008. I haven’t eaten at a taco bell since. 1 order of nachos supreme = 5 days of disgusting misery. Run for the border? No. Just run. Get away from this place as fast as you can.

«On Oster, On Waring, On Hamilton Beach…» There is the occasional frijole, grain of rice, or scrap of vegetable that narrowly escapes the clutches of the blender, but they are few and far between. Don’t bother looking for the meat, because they are still chasing it through the woods behind the restaurant. I think if there ever would be a market for Taco Smoothies, this place wouldn’t have to change any of their food prep to add them to the menu. The place is really not that bad, it’s just that the food barely passes for, well, food. And, when you peel back the wrapper and open the tortilla, no matter what you thought you had ordered, the guts inside are pretty much all the same mushy goo of ingredients. When it comes right down to it, all the Yum! Brands franchises are very much the same in terms of quality and satisfaction. You eat there because it’s fast and convenient, not necssarily because it’s good. I shouldn’t take it out just on this location, but it’s the closest one to my house.
