SweetWater Landscape and Projects

New to Austin and bought a house that was empty for quite a while. Found some good reviews and decided to try these guys out. Sam was super responsive and came while I was in town to take a look. Talking through what we wanted, he started to give us all sorts of information about the trees we had, the different options we could think about and what we should do. We engaged them to do a bunch of clean up, new planting and put down quite a long decomposed granite drive. All was done in just over 2 days, and no surprises. Sam was honest, fast and he even personally raked out stone and mulch to make sure it looked «perfect». My wife and I are very happy and will continue to use Sam and his team to do a bunch of other projects.

These guys did a great job. We settled on a low price and they really delivered, while helping us think through ways to make our newly landscaped back yard more appealing. They finished the job quickly, and if the weather hadn’t interfered would have been able to move from getting an estimate to finishing the project in less than a week. As it was, even after the rain turned my yard into a mud-​pit they were able to come in within a few days and finish up. I will definitely use them again if we have more landscape projects.

There is no way I could express in a short review how great these guys are to work with, but I will say that the service, the project and the end result far exceeded our expectations. Rusty and the crew did a great job explaining how the project would run and even after we agreed to the project scope, they upgraded our original plans at no extra cost because they did not want to do a sub-​par job. They set high expectations, but exceeded them by leaps and bounds. I would highly recommend them and we are already in talks for the next project (s). It is great to see that there are still local companies that take pride in their work and put the customer first. Thanks Rusty!

Pros at quality high end fencing. Though I never had a fence installed before, dealing with contractors in the past has scarred me very much. When I needed a fence, other contractors bs’d right out of the gate. Sweetwater showed up with professional suggestions and very reasonable pricing. 2 weeks late we were done with a fence I completely love and endless compliments from my neighbors. Rusty and his crew are outstanding! We shopped many landscape companies for the best prices but didn’t realize we would get the best service as well. Everything came in at or under budget and the work was above and beyond expectations.
Rusty also is very knowledgeable and helped us find aesthetic solutions to what we were trying to accomplish. Additionally, they fixed the irrigation that the previous irrigation company had messed up completely.
Don’t waste your time — Sweetwater is the only place to go in Austin, no matter how much you’re willing to spend!

We spoke to a number of companies before starting with Sweetwater on our landscaping project this spring. We chose them based on their reasonable honest quote, and their friendly and knowledgeable people. We had a good idea of what we wanted, but weren’t sure how to visualize how things would look in the end. Sam helped us with that and with figuring out what plants to choose. He was patient, descriptive and always friendly and professional. The work was done in the amount of time he estimated, and it looks great! We’ll definitely consider using them again in the future.

Rusty and these guys are awesome. I just asked for a few specifics and let him decide on the rest of the plants for the flower beds. The lawn and the flower beds look amazing. He did a great job laying the new sod and it’s perfectly even with the grass that didn’t have to be redone. They are also super easy to work with, and that’s just what I needed right now.

We just had a fantastic experience with Rusty Bourland and his company. Our story is that my husband and I have tried in the past to deal with our front yard or, rather, dirt + weeds. We tried on our own, then we tried with two different experienced (individuals but not professionals). Long story short, back to dirt-​weeds each time. Those days are over. Rusty knows a HUGE amount about plants in general as well as natives, grasses, soil (etc.) and also has a great eye for design. He spent lots of time talking to us (at no charge) about our options. His rates are very fair (lower than other bids) and Rusty understands that some clients need to keep things low cost. About two weeks after putting everything in, that the crazy week of freezing weather came along. Rusty came by the house and told us what to do to try to save everything. Inevitably there were casualties. Although landscape company contracts include a «not responsible for acts of nature» clause, Rusty was incredibly generous with his time and resources to get us fixed up again. That’s because Rusty takes customer satisfaction seriously: he will go the extra mile to make sure you are happy with the results. Our front looks amazing! Oh, I should add that Sweetwater redid our crushed granite driveway and it looks brand new.

These guys (Rusty & Sam), are GREAT! About 4 – 5 months ago, I had them pour a 12’X17’X6″ thick slab for me. Added rebar & wire mesh. The price was significantly more competitive (meaning cheaper), than any others around. Finshed the whole project in a day & the job done was outstanding. Very friendly fellows, too.
Currently, they are adding a decomposed granite driveway and pea gravel in areas where the dogs run and also for some more Xeriscape-​type landscaping. The crew got here early this morning and by noon, I was amazed on how much these guys have gotten done. They figure on 2 days to get the job done.
And there is alot to be done but based upon my previous experience and what they’ve accomplished thus far, they will do it.
They spend alot of time in prep and plan things out well. The crew works well together and they do great clean up. I’ve been in Austin since ’76 and these guys are some of the best I’ve found. Their prices are very reasonable, too.
Recommend them highly without reservation. Will use them again for future work.
