Spark Learning

We’ve been working with Spark since 5 and a half month. Kristen and her team are amazing. And I mean, AMAZING. We’ve seen huge progress in our son with his expressive communication skills, social skills and behavior. Not only that our son is a much more happier child but we’re a much more happier family working together to give him the resources he need and we have Spark to thank for that. When I first met Kristen, I did not want to look anywhere else and knew this was the place for our son.

We have been working with Spark since the first day they opened. To say they are fabulous isn’t enough! They have changed our lives, helping my son in so many different ways. They’ve worked with us, with school and on so many aspects of my child’s life. Their services go beyond traditional ABA therapy, as their approach is completely tailored to the child’s needs and their ever-​changing goals. Needs change over time and they are flexible and dynamic, changing the program accordingly. I don’t know where we would be without them! Kristen and her team of experienced therapists are caring, professional and knowledge. They are just awesome and I would definitely recommend them to anyone!

Our son was diagnosed with Asperger’s in 4^th grade. We were clueless as to how to handle this, so we looked online and found a therapist near our house who seemed to have experience with this. After about 6 months of (expensive) therapy things weren’t improving and I was at the end of my rope.
I used to dread mornings with my children — my son would often wake in a black mood which lasted through every interaction until it was time to go to school. At school, he exhibited inappropriate behaviors such as breaking pencils out of frustration. It was difficult for the family to enjoy spending time with him because he would get so fixated on his special interests.
I found Spark’s director, Kristen Rakun, on an Internet search. After my initial phone conversation with her I could tell that the ABA therapy was different from what we had been experiencing and I immediately scheduled an appointment for my son. He is now a 6^th grader and the work he has been doing with his therapist at Spark has literally changed our family’s lives.

After a year and a half with Spark, our son is an active participant in his middle school with As and Bs in all classes. He does not need a Behavior Improvement Plan anymore. He tried out for the school musical, got a part, and participated fully for the 3 months of rehearsals. And he has learned to observe how other people react to his conversations and adjust appropriately.
