I hate going to the dentist – and especially getting major work done. I got my first ever root canal done here. all I have to say is Dr. Overstreet is amazing, calm and very patient. She has an excellent bedside manner, and I was very anxious before my root canal. She made me feel at ease and it was pretty much painless! I highly recommend her if you need a root canal. The nice thing about this office is that they also let you watch a movie while they perform the root canal so you can take your mind off the procedure!

Dr. Hom and his staff go above and beyond to make a root canal a pleasant experience. Mine took three visits because it was a complicated retreatment and I appreciated that he took his time and didn’t rush it which could lead to undesired outcomes. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Their office is equipped with the very latest technology. They have little comforts as well, such as soft blankets to cover you during a procedure and they provide earphones and offer movies to watch to help the time go quickly.
Dr. Hom practices with his wife Meredith and together they offer convenient hours and are in network with most insurance plans. No one gets excited about a root canal but when it’s necessary, you want the best. South Austin Microendodontics is a wonderful asset to our community.

I had a cracked filling and was referred here by my dentist. Thankfully, they only had to clean out the tooth, as I didn’t require a root canal. The experience from the front office back to Dr. Hom was awesome. I felt comfortable and at ease for the entire process! If I ever do need a root canal, I know where I will go!

My mother was referred to South Austin Microendodontics by a dentist in Corpus Christi. She had been in pain for over a week not exactly sure which tooth was hurting. Dr Overstreet was able to pinpoint the tooth that was causing my mother such pain and treated it with a root canal. She had such a great experience and was immediately out of pain!
Dr Overstreet is an amazing endodontist who takes her time and cares about her patients! Austin is lucky to have you!

My 11 year old daughter was referred here for a consultation. Dr. Hom said she needed a root canal and would have to be put asleep to do it. I got second opinion from an Endodontist who said he thought he could save the tooth and he did save the tooth. I think this clinic might be a little quick to recommend root canals. If there is an infection, sure, but if it just a deep cavity, you might seek a second opinion. I’m glad I did as I wouldn’t want my daughter to go through a root canal when she didn’t have to. Maybe they are just not great with children. I will say that the office staff and the person taking X-​Rays were very good and friendly and the office is neat and clean.

I was referred here by my dentist to get a root canal. The facilities are modern and aesthetically pleasing. All of the staff is friendly and seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs.

I echo with all other reviewers about the quality care that SAM provides to its patients.
My wife was expecting and she used to have a hard trouble sleeping with one of her molar tooth that was giving her the real hard time with the pain and severe headache on one side. We discussed with our regular Dentist and he advised to get the root canal done asap and recommended Dr. Overstreet… She made the whole root canal procedure easy and smooth for my wife in one go without any pain and all… Dr. Overstreet and her assistant were simply awesome and I can definitely say if on the way forward unfortunately I or any of my family members need a RC, we have our Dr. Overstreet to go to. Now my wife doesn’t have any headache\pain that she used to feel every day before the RC… Simply can’t resist in THANKIING Dr. Overstreet over and over again… God bless Dr. Overstreet and her staff…:)

I am very satisfied with my experience here in general. I am not a fan of dentist specially when root canal is involve but they almost made me one. I am still giving it 5 stars though because they deserve it. Thank you and I would strongly recommend this one.

Gotta echo the thoughts of the other reviewers; hard to get excited about a root canal, but I cannot imagine a better experience than what I had. Great bedside (chair-​side) manner by Dr. Overstreet and staff. Dr. Overstreet sometimes sings along softly with the Muzak; which is surprisingly relaxing. Bonus points that Dr. Hom is an Anteater!

I needed a root canal and my dentist recommended this place. Root canals are not fun but this place made it a pleasant experience. Everyone is nice, friendly, and professional. From the doctors to the front desk staff I was highly impressed with the knowledge, technology, follow up, follow through, and customer service. I highly recommend to anyone who needs serious dental work!

My regular dentist referred me here to have several root canals redone that were done incorrectly at a not very good dentist I saw for many years before I found my new dentist. Dr. Hom and his staff are awesome and go out of their way to be friendly and help make the entire process as easy as they can. Kelly is a fantastic dental assistant and the front staff are great as well. I will have to have several more procedures done here and I appreciate that Dr. Hom communicates with my regular dentist to ensure that I am getting the correct treatment plan and that I can meet my financial part of it. While having root canals never tops anyones list of fun things to do, if you find that you need one done and need a quality staff and facility to do it look no further!

I was so happy with the staff, facilities, and general experience. As terrified as I was to get a root canal, it was almost painless! And the next evening Dr Hamm called to check on me. Absolutely recommend!

I enjoyed my visit to South Austin Microendodontics. Root canals are never fun, but with all the technology today the procedure is quick and relatively painless. The doctors and staff at South Austin were funny and easy to talk to. It was clear my comfort was their top concern, they even offered me a movie. It’s kind of sad, I hope to never have to go there again.

Excellent customer service and care! Very nice and exceptional staff and office. They use technology to collect your information beforehand and they use email which I think is awesome (paperless). My 9 year old was scheduled for a root canal but she ended up getting her tooth extracted. I was very nervous about the procedure but everything turned out fine and I felt the doctors were both honest and sincere. I even got a house call after the procedure. This was well worth the drive from Pflugeville. Hopefully you don’t have a kid that needs a root canal but if you do I would go here :)

I had to add my praise to the other reviews here. As painful as having to go to the endodontist may be in theory, you will have an amazingly pleasant experience if you come to South Austin Microendodontics. I first met with Dr. Overstreet and Josh when they worked me in after I had an excruciating night of pain. I already knew I was going to like and respect Dr. Meredith from overhearing her patiently explaining a procedure and options to another patient without any judgement or bias — as in she was presenting the options and giving a recommendation without pressure (as I feel all doctors should.)
When we spoke she explained what was happening and actually expressed compassion for my pain! Giving timing, I had my procedure with Dr. Hom. The procedure was comfortable, even for a non-​fan of anything dental related. The whole office is great and clearly very close. They reminded me several times that if I had any questions or pain to just give them a call anytime.
Plus they even put Halloween decorations outside the windows! To me, that is the best illustration of their devotion to their patient’s experience. :)

I am only confirming what all the other reviews have said. I had a root canal this morning, and from Megan the receptionist, to Gina the dental assistant, to especially Dr. Overstreet herself, I don’t believe I could find a more professional, pleasant, and comforting atmosphere to have such a horrible tooth procedure done. It was as pain-​free as possible, and Meredith made absolutely certain I wasn’t feeling even a pinch of pain as she checked often. She even called the next day to make sure everything was going well (and it was).
I’m sure there are other good dentists in the Austin area, but as long as we’re within driving distance of South Austin, this is where I’ll take myself and my family.

Today I went to South Austin microendodontics as a referral for the dreaded root canal. I only have excellent things to say about them.
Lets start with the reception and office management: When I initially called to schedule I spoke with Megan who was able to schedule me within a few days. Then i had to callback and reschedule and she was super accommodating. I was then sent an email with information/​instructions regarding how to fill out the electronic paperwork online. Which saves a lot of time, especially as a new patient. The date and time of my appointment along with the copay amount was also included in this email. The day I had my appointment I got lost, being somewhat new to the area. I called and they were really helpful with directions– even though now I was running late. When I finally got there the whole initial «new patient thing» was painless and streamlined. Even though I do have dental insurance– my copay was several hundred dollars, which I did not have. The office manager quickly filled out an application for me for carecredit– which I was approved for. So I was able to get the work I needed without having to pay for it all up front. That was a big help and big relief.
Procedure: I was called back right away, and Gina, the dental assistant was very professional, yet friendly, and very comforting– I was nervous that I was going to be in pain– but she was very reassuring and helped relieve my anxiety. Some X-​rays were done, and Dr. Hom came in, introduced himself and was extremely knowledgeable about everything. He took extra time to answer questions, and reassure that I would be comfortable. (I’m an ICU RN– so I have a ton of medical background, so I was probably being annoying!)
The whole time I had no pain, nothing was uncomfortable at all. During the root canal both Dr. Hom and Gina explained everything they were doing as they did it, which was awesome. Afterwords, Dr. Hom showed me all the pictures and X-​rays of the procedure. Gina walked me out and gave me some Advil and a bottle of water.
I have had a lot of dental work– some good, some not good, and this was the best dental experience I have ever had. I felt that everyone actually cared about me as a patient, were professional, yet super friendly and «normal». It’s been about 6 hours since the root canal and I have yet to feel any pain. I also received a phone call this evening from one of the office staff to check on me.
I would highly recommend this practice to anyone who needs any endodontic work. You will not be let down in any way.

If you are in need of an experienced dental professional I recommend
Dr. Overstreet and her staff, you won’t find a higher quality practice with a group of people who are friendly, compassionate and highly trained. They will calm your anxiety, make you feel comfortable and complete your dental work with the greatest of care.

So let’s face the facts, needing a root canal seriously sucks! If your reading this its likely that you have a painful tooth and probably need a root canal and you want to punch me for reminding you of that.
I came in and discussed my options with Dr. Meredith Overstreet, she was very informative about options I had. My tooth had some gnarly roots, but as I leaned back with my mouth stuck open like a large mouthed bass. Dr. Overstreet demonstrated excellent bed side manner, frequently checking on my comfort level and giving reminders that if I was in pain to let her know.
Another thing I liked was that she was super nice to her assistant, I don’t remember her name but she was also great. There are some awful sounds and smells involved in a root canal, but that’s the nature of the beast and she did a great job of taming the beast (explaining sounds, and what to expect with different dental tools) Fortunately the pain didn’t feel tortuous like the sounds.
The business is Meredith and her husband and I thought it was great that he stopped in to look at my freak show root and give his wife congratulations on getting to the root of the problem.
This was awfsum (awful + awesome). Root canals suck, but… Great Dr… best bedside manner I’ve ever experienced from any medical professional I’ve interacted with…
