Specialties
The mission of South Austin Community Tai Chi is to use the gift of this healthy activity to help improve the health of the community at a low cost, and provide scholarships to students to attend schools of healing.
History
Established in 2014.
South Austin Community Tai Chi started out by Adrian just practicing in the park. Over time others have joined in and it was decided to give it the mission of earning money for scholarships.
Today we stick with the tradition of practicing outside whenever possible going to beautiful venues across the south side of the city. In bad weather however an inside venue will be chosen.
Meet the Business Owner
Adrian A.
Business Owner
Adrian Abascal comes from a long background of various martial arts starting from the tender age of ten. He quickly developed to the level of an instructor teaching mostly external styles of Kung Fu in his own schools.
While practicing a showy kick he managed to twist apart a knee, ripping ligaments and breaking off a piece of the meniscus. A visit to the doctor would be most disappointing: surgery with two years recovery.
Unwilling to put his career on a two year hold he went and visited an acupuncturist who in six months, with the help of Tai Chi, managed to help him get a complete recovery.
Since that time Adrian has refocused his entire martial perspective recognizing the importance of practicing internal varieties of Kung Fu Including Tai Chi.
Transformed by the experience of the martial arts and chinese medicine Adrian started South Austin Community Tai Chi as a way to share the healing components of these martial arts at a low cost.
