SOCO Pet Lounge

Just picked up my girl from another three and a half day stay and could not be happier.
She got a nail trim, a bath, and they went to so much extra trouble to make sure she was well cared for. Being as old as she is makes it hard for her to hold it sometimes so she needs to go outside like, once an hour if she’s gonna sleep through the night with no accidents, and no water 3 hrs before bedtime (vet recommended).
She also has a hard time getting going in the morning and you have to straddle the line between helping her too much vs not at all. If you don’t help her she can’t really get up and get moving, but if you help her too much it throws off the rest of the day and it’s like she’s still warming up all day. They’re so good about letting her do it herself without making her do it ALL herself.
I know she had a good time because when she comes home she sniffs around the apartment to make sure everything’s the same as she left it, then she goes right to her bed in my room and crashes out alllll day. She loves it at SCPL so much she doesn’t want to sleep and possibly miss anything! She’s been like that her whole life.
Everybody at SCPL is so knowledgeable and I just love them so much for taking care of my baby– she’s my whole world!

We’ve been taking orson, or 8 year old lab, to daycare for over 6 months twice a week. The staff is always friendly and knows orson, he is always excited to go and exhausted when we pick him up. A tired pup is a happy pup!

SOCO Pet Lounge has been a HUGE help for me and Virgil!
They have been super great last minute helping us out when I’ve had to go out of town last minute.
They are super responsive and respond quickly via email. Cate has been great over there giving us updates on Virgil while we were in Thailand.
They truly know and care for our pup and have given us training pointers, which has been really great.

I had a death in the family had to fly to California. I had to board my puppy, he was current with his shots and Kate assured me that I had nothing to worry about. I planned my trip I even called her to confirm she sounded so sweet, NOT!!! My husband dropped off the puppy for boarding and they wouldn’t accept him because he needed another shot which she assured me he was to young to have, and that wouldn’t be a problem. I had to fix this HUGE problem while in California. I will never recommend this place to anyone.
Anderson Mill vet took him in short notice and was much cheaper!!! Go to Anderson Mill they are incredibly nice and are so helpful

We have taken our two dogs here about 5 times, all for stays of a week or more. I have never noticed anything amiss. When they get there they trot in happily. When we pick them up they go crazy from missing us, but everything seems fine. The cages were clean on a surprise inspection. We have been using a boarding place closer to home that has a bigger play yard, but whenever we were in a pinch Soco has always been there for us with availability. The staff has always been friendly and remember us even when it has been awhile since we have been there. Our dogs have short hair so we have never done any fancy grooming, but we have had them bathed before being picked up and that was fine.

I take my two dogs to Soco Pet Lounge every time I’m out of town and they are always excited for their stay .The staff is very friendly and always remembers my dogs and I got compliments after grooming them here.

**After reading Todd’s response (see below), I decided to amend my review slightly since my limited experience with the facility might not have given me a full picture of the amount of supervision they provide for the dogs. My edited review is below**
I typically don’t write Unilocal reviews, especially less-​than-​positive ones, but I thought that I should share a little about this place for others who might be shopping around for a doggie daycare. I took my dog here for a trial day and was a bit surprised about the setup. I have taken my dog to other doggie daycares in the past and go in expecting that my dog will be supervised by a human at all times (of course, if they have to turn away for a few seconds to attend to another dog, that is completely reasonable) and that they will be entertained and have lots interactions with other dogs and humans.
When I dropped my dog off, I asked to see the area where he would be playing all day. Although there may have been more supervision at some point in the day, it appeared that the dogs were kept largely unattended in the fenced outside play area. The staff person said that they come out to «check on them» from time to time and that they will bring them inside if it gets too hot. Todd (the owner, I believe) has since responded to my initial comments and it seems like I might have been misinformed about the amount of supervision by the staff person I first met. It was my impression that there is no one consistently outside supervising them.
Also — in response to Todd’s comment below about their observation period and policy of grouping dogs with similar play styles: The person at the front desk never asked any questions about my dog’s play style nor did she mention (or seem to conduct) any temperament test.
If you’re looking for a place to drop off your dog for the day, it’s probably fine and they would be adequately taken care of. However, if you’re looking for a place where your dog will get lots of play and attention from humans, there might be better options out there.

Wow, what horrid customer service and I cannot believe they treat their customers the way they do. I dropped my dog off for service and when I picked him up they failed to do what I told them to do. When the groomer came out she said it was my mistake because I did not tell them exactly what I wanted done. When I made the reservation I told them EXACTLY what I wanted done. They failed to do this. When they told me they could hold on to my dog for three hours before they could correct the issue I told them this was unacceptable.
I am like everyone else out there and have a tight schedule. I told them holding on to my dog for an additional three hours would not work. The owner or pseudo-​manager came out and proceeded to get rude with me. I was a bit irate at this point. They proceeded to take their sweet time to charge me for the services they did perform.
The owner/​psuedo-​manager then started to approach me in an aggressive manager and proceeded to call me an A-​hole and a jerk. I told him I would NEVER come back to this horrible establishment.
What is worse? When I saw my dog, other dogs were in the kennel next to them and obviously soiled himself and they did NOTHING to clean the dog. They left him sitting there helpless.
There are plenty of other places in Austin that will treat you with respect. I wanted to get out of there as fast as I could. When I left my card at the counter the same guy yelled at me at the door and said «hey jackass, do you want your card» and when he handed to me he then pretended to lunge at me like he was going to punch me and told me to «get the F off the property!»
I cannot believe any business establishment would treat any customer this way!
I was not a happy camper when they did not do perform the services I ordered. Traveling all day to get home and to be treated the way they treated me is truly unacceptable.

I toured SOCO Pet Lounge earlier this week and I am in love with this place! The girls at the front desk were super nice and the facility is beautiful. The dogs all seemed so happy outside playing together and there was this sweet pup in their playroom lounging on the bed like she was the center of the universe! Check this place out, you won’t be sorry!

Silly me, I bought a coupon for a hair cut for my dog with this «outfit». I called and made an appointment for a day when I had lots of other appointments scheduled. I took my dog into the «joint» and the receptionist had no record fo an appointment and made no effort to help with the situation. It was one of those really, really hot days and I did not want to leave my dog in the car while I did my errands. The receptionist called the owner and they offered to allow me to leave my dog — -for a huge fee — no offer to reschedule the hair cut appointment but your typical «bait and switch» program. It seems to me that the coupon groups need to screen these companies and make sure that they are on the «up and up» and not just another scam!!!

I took my dog to get groomed recently. When I picked her up at first glance everything looked good. The groomer made sure to tell me that they accidently brushed off a scab on her paw when brushing her. Being a guy I don’t pay super close attention to the details of my dog so I didn’t know my dog had a wound on her foot so I said whatever and went on my way. Over the course of the last few days my girlfriend has found four different scabs on my dog. We have a very prissy girl dog. She doesn’t wrestle or fight other dogs so there is no way she would have four separate wounds on her body. I might be making assumptions but everything adds up to the groomer cutting my dog multiple times. Add to this the fact that it was just a very poor grooming job. There was a lot of long missed strands of fut on my dog’s paws and legs. For $ 50+ dollars I can get a thorough dog grooming elsewhere where they won’t injure my dog. No thanks.

I toured this facility today. The staff was friendly. The kennel areas were neat and organized. For a kennel it was surprisingly clean. The kennels were spacious and not crowded on top of each other. There area the exercise the pets was well maintained and grassy. I left special feeding instructions so I will see if they follow through.

The location is fabulous, but alas the groomers I used was not. The front desk was not very friendly… ok, I thought, who cares?
The groomer was friendly and my pup went happily with her. But, when I picked him up, he was unhappy. My Bichon had become a Poodle and boy did he know his famous mustache was GONE! In addition, she did nothing to his tail (Poodle in face only, apparently) and his nails were barely touched (maybe not at all)
They just don’t know what they’re doing.
Pros – location, speed!
Cons – breed cuts not known, nails not trimmed adequately, cost is high relative to better places

i have been having a great experience with SOCO pet lounge. i’ve been taking my dog there for day care and highly recommend it. i know my dog is playing outside, compared to other daycares in the area where they spend most of their time inside in caged in areas. the staff is friendly and bring their own dogs in, which i like a lot. also very reasonably priced.

I thought my dog had a great three day stay here when I picked her up. The lady at the front desk said she did great, got along with the other dogs, everything went well. I threw her blanket and food bag in the trunk of my car and went home to drop her off before work. As soon as she got in the door, she gulped down 2 cups of water in one sitting. Mind you, she is a 20lb dog so that is an insane amount. As soon as I brought her food out, she whined like crazy and ate harder than I had ever seen before. I thought she just had been playing really hard over the weekend.
Two days later, I went to get her stuff out of the car to wash. The food bag felt heavy, so I looked inside. Out of the 6 bags of preportioned kibble I sent, only 1 was gone. In three days, all she had to eat was ²⁄₃ a cup of food. No one mentioned this to me, I never got a phone call or email saying she was refusing to eat. Then I remembered when I picked her up, the lady at the desk checked me out while another girl went to get my dog. This other girl was told the food bag was above her kennel. I should have picked up on that, but since I always leave an extra bag just in case, logically thought she was referring to that. Why would she have to be told where the food is?
Extremely angry and disappointed. I don’t care the circumstance, there is absolutely no excuse for this. If this was neglect, it’s animal abuse. If my dog was refusing to eat (she loves her Orijen kibble and goes crazy for it, so unlikely), I should have been told.

Owner contacted me and said there was a miscommunication with the staff and she was being fed the house food. Given that my dog is sensitive to food changes, changing cold turkey has caused her to have ugly diarrhea problems. Added one star back in for them explaining the situation.

Another lucky find for me, thanks to a Living Social voucher. My husband and I hate to trim our sweet dog’s nails. We can’t bear to get it wrong, so I jumped on this Living Social opportunity for grooming.
First of all, our Minnie, a 40 lb mixed boxer, is timid with big dogs and people she doesn’t know. When we first got there, a HUGE black Great Dane came out to greet her. When I expressed concern that Minnie might suddenly react, especially since Minnie was still on leash, they put the Great Dane away, who was perfectly behaved by the way, without making me feel embarrassed. Then the groomer came over to greet Minnie, and within seconds, Minnie was letting her pet her and touch her head, which is so often not the case with her as she tends to be very hesitant with strangers. And, most of all, Minnie wasn’t clingy which is usual for her. She felt very safe very quickly. In other words, Soco Pet Lounge has very good vibes.
When I picked her up, she was beautifully groomed. After talking with them about their doggie day care, I scheduled a visit in a couple of weeks, so she can become familiar with Soco on a regular basis. It gives me peace of mind to know that we have a place like Soco Pet Lounge to take care of her when we have to go away for a few days.
