I bought a house 7 years ago under terrible circumstances: the interest rate was high, my realtor/boyfriend was crazy and grievously under-informed, I had errors on my credit file — the works. I ended up hating that house. Why was I so blissful this time around? Apart from having an amazing realtor(see Delfin: ) I also had what I didn’t know was a real thing: a knowledgeable, caring and personable mortgager. Am I saying that you don’t have to do all the leg work yourself to understand the housing market? Or how long to finance your home for? Or how much is a suitable down payment? Or what paperwork to line up before you even start looking for a house? Yes, yes I am saying that: you don’t have to feel alone in the process, as I did with Amplify years ago. There’s someone on your side. And I say this a year out, after having recovered and received great reminders, emails, and paperwork relevant to my taxes in the mail. Before I even started scrambling last-minute to get things in order, Silvia and her team had already provided me with what I needed. It boggles the mind. I’m only sorry it took one of her periodic emails(about the housing supply and recommendations for homeowners) to write her up: she did a phenomenal job for me. More people should expect this solid level of service and compassionate reassurance when doing something as life-changing as buying a home. I know I’ll have a lifetime resource with Silvia, and would gladly use her services again in the future. Although: have you ever moved? Yeah, I’m not doing that again. It’s the worst.
