Working with Les was absolutely perfect and I can’t recommend him highly enough. I was a first time house buyer and with his patient guidance I was able to get my ideal house, at a great price. He’s had a long real estate career in Austin and he worked as an appraiser in the past, so he’s very good at spotting potential issues when viewing houses. He’s also a strong (but professional) negotiator who will work hard to get you the best possible deal. Just call Les. :)

Les Sherman is an excellent realtor. I think he has been licensed for 40 years now, so he has seen it all. He was able to shed light on every aspect of the selling and buying process for us … the kinds of things only experience can provide. One benefit we enjoyed by working with Les was that he is a terrific negotiator. Another is that after so many years in Austin, he has an extensive network of contacts like tradesmen, structural engineers, etc.
Les worked hard for us over a long period of time, and was always very timely and responsive to our many questions, extraordinarily so in one particular case. Even though neither the house we were selling nor the one we were buying were «top dollar,» he never made us feel that way. He has a nice, friendly, attentive manner. My wife and I experienced first-​hand that he truly believes in serving and advocating for the client as a matter of principle and is not in it for his own interest. It’s hard to imagine a better option for realty needs than Les Sherman.

I can’t believe there is only one other Unilocal review of Les Sherman. This guy should have 100 reviews, and they should all be 5-​stars. We found Les based on recommendations from friends, who said Les was probably the best Realtor they had worked with and who made finding a new home in Austin anything but stressful (full disclosure — that friend is Dana B. of the previous review).
Les worked with us every step of the process (including steps we didn’t even know were IN the process) and walked us through all the various minefields that can pop up. He was never intrusive but was so helpful we ended up asking his advice on all things move (and all things SW Austin). He showed us homes that met our criteria and never tried to steer us in any particular direction. When we found the home we liked best, he worked hard to get us the best deal possible (which we think turned out very well indeed).
After the sale, every recommendation he gave for various service contractors has panned out spectacularly, especially the moving company (see my other review for more info there). Les might be old-​school Austin, but in a town that’s changed its personality too many times to count, Les has remained true to himself and to his clients. I can’t recommend him highly enough.

Les Sherman is a hard-​working, honest, and intelligent person with a calming and enjoyable demeanor — all the qualities one should hope for in a realtor. My wife and I worked with Les this spring when shopping for our third home, and he did a wonderful job of helping us focus on our needs and home-​buying capacity in a competitive market. We chose him based on a friend’s recommendation, and we were not disappointed at all.
The only bad thing about buying our house with Les is that we’re done now, so we won’t get to see him nearly as much as we’d like. If you need a realtor in Austin, give Les a call!
